Got to do the Cellar Aged Tour. After the initial barrel matures, it goes into their limestone cellar for the next 5-6 years. Tasted it against an 11/12 years matured just in the rickhouse and it was astonishing how much better the Cellar was. Said to be an annual release that should become more available in a few years and hopes to get to a 13/14 year.

I do like MM, I have several of them from basic to 46, 101, cask strength & private selection, but I have never seen a bottle of cellar aged on any shelf in any liquor (upstate NY) stores & when I look online the cheapest, I can find it is $399.99 and from their it skyrockets? I do understand that 11 & 12-year juice doesn't come cheap but my god that's a lot of money.

Aged to regular makers then put in their cellar they cut in the side of the mountain in stays at 53 all year . Got to try it next to a straight 12 yr makers not in the cellar it was wasn't even close the straight 12 was I'm sure intentionally way over oaked and too much tannins . Got to drink from the still as well it was awesome .

    • @Vortex1988

I don't even know which Maker's Mark offerings still use a screw top. Maybe just the regular Maker's Mark and Maker's 46? I know that all the private selects and wood finishing series used synthetic corks. I think their cask strength offerings do too. I would imagine their oldest and most expensive bourbon they've ever released is using a synthetic cork too.

This and ECBP aren't even in the same universe from a complexity standpoint. The last ECBP was a single note and still $100 in most places. This isn't meant to compete with ECBP, it's meant to compete with true limited releases.

Stop glorifying dusties. A dusty maker's mark is just as average as maker's mark is today. The flavor profile might just be slightly different. The reason Cellar Aged is superior is because it's the oldest bourbon that Maker's Mark has ever released. It's a blend of 11 and 12-year-old bourbon. That's a big jump from the 6-7 years the rest of their stuff is aged.
