I found a one room liquor store in GA, behind a gas station. They had ER for 39.99. I talked about how that's the best price I've ever found that for. Lady told me it was bc the distributor came in and saw they had it priced at 80. They said come down off that price or they'd stop giving it to them.
Agreed, keep a few to enjoy but not that many !!!

I looks like he is keeping 1 and selling the rest if he gets multiple. Buy the looks of it a lot of those he probably got at least 1 case or multiple. Its not like he has multiple of the same bottle. He has different releases of the same bottles but not the exact same bottles.

I know you skimmed right past that Jeffersons beside that knob creek 15 but, that's a old sourced whiskey from Stitzel-Weller distillery AKA OG Julian Van Winkle. Low batch numbers command a mint. Cheers!

I live 20 minutes from that store in Aynor. The owner and son are complete know it alls, will never spend a dime in that store.. absolutely is indeed a bourbon prison

Excited to see what you do for a barrel pick!!! I just got back from a trade! I traded a guy two blantons an eagle rare and 50 bucks for a M10 bourbon, well because I was not too far from downtown louisville I stopped at michters and me and the old lady were able to do a bottle your own and I got bombergers. Then I hit a store on the same block and snagged an old forester single barrel barrel proof! Such an awesome day! Expensive one but a good one

Those comments you posted about Knob Creek’s wax are 3 years old. They’ve fixed the wax. Comes off in one piece now.

I just stopped at the second store for the first time the other day passing through. Guy was nice, but contradicting himself saying its a ridiculous bubble but theyre selling stuff at secondary values. I get needing a profit but 400 for stagg when retail is 65.

For everyday stuff, total wines always has the best prices. Just cant get the special stuff. (Usually)
That Jack SBBP Rye special release was my unicorn until they just start making it a mainstay for $65. So Whatever that shop is asking for is nuts because all you're paying or is the special release insignias because the barrel selection criteria are the same (at least that's the company line).

I had a bad experience with a Woodinville store pick. Was excited about the proof and it being local distilled and aged. The nose was nothing special. The taste was way too harsh, and had the worst finish of any whiskey I’ve tried. Ended up giving it to family who will use it in cocktails, even in an old fashioned it’s nothing special.
Dude that's his FJB retirement collection. Taxed to death but drinking like a king in retirement.

Found my first bottle of blantons in the wild & it was $200 & buffalo trace was $60 💔💔
They both taste the same honestly. Pay for a pour at a bar then if you really want one for display pick up and empty and fill it with cheap stuff.
Maybe this store owner should ask Buffalo Trace why they haven't increased their MSRP, even though their products are in such high demand. I bet he'd change his mind on hoarding all of those Blanton's.

I have not and I have never heard of that brand. Is it one of their spirit direct brands?
@@Bourbon_Hunter yeah it’s a spirits direct brand which might be a turn off because they normally aren’t that great but Old Emmer Cask Strength definitely does good on my Palate.

found my first 1.75 buffalo trace and 1.75 weller special reserve this weekend and had to get them never seen the big bottles in person before and both at $50 was a heck of a price

A lot of allocated bottles get sent to you based off of how much lower end stuff like fireball that your shop sells.

There’s no bubble hate gonna be bursting. The problem is MSRP is too low relative to market demand and that consistently been the case for the last decade. Every other market this happens in, MSRP eventually just creeps up. Exactly what happened in scotch whisky
honestly 130 for that blantons at second store isnt that bad if you order it online its like 160 plus the shipping and if you like it and want to get it at a store in nc here where i am its already promised to buddies of the abc stores at least it wasnt 200 like i see often
130 for Blanton's is in fact bad. That stuff isn't anywhere as good as that price

This might be an unpopular opinion but I don’t hate a smaller “museum” store like that once in awhile. Kinda fun to see the rare bottles. It’s either that or not see anything cool since the likelihood you’re gonna be the one who gets to buy it at MSRP is virtually zero
100% agree. There's a gas station liquor store in my home town with an amazing selection but horrible prices. When I was in the area last year I stopped in and it was just cool to see everything in one place

It’s a shame that these are just collecting dust. Would like to see decanters make a comeback. My father collected them and I can’t say how many he had but it was a bunch mostly sportsman related or firearms related and unfortunately after he died they disappeared. Second wife had control.

I found a rare in my area a bakers 7 for 63 or 7+ tax. Is that a good price? I've only been to 1 allocation drop am a beginner. I don't see it anywhere else but this one store has 3 bottles. 😊

They push certain brands onto new people to the bourbon world. (Total Wine has “house” brands that they push extra hard vs good bourbon)
Don’t be too hard on Total Wine. The big box stores less likely to gouge than dear old mom and pop. Shelf space is everything to them. They put it on the shelf so it can come off the shelf so they can put another on the shelf. They don’t want bottles sitting around waiting for daddy warbucks to come in. And if it’s behind glass, they are overcharging your ass.

I got a driftless Glen bourbon pick from total wine in Columbia and it was overwhelmingly clove. I hated it. I thought maybe it’ll open up with some air so i poured a 2oz sample for a friend. Still terrible

7:20 Crown Royal cask 16. Some of the best bottles I have are due to me trading CR Cask 16 bottles. Regret opening 2 over the years knowing what I can get for one.

I legit can't wait for the bourbon bubble to bust. I live in NorCal and these greedy shop owners are just blatantly charging secondarymarket prices when they are the primary market is criminal behavior. Also legit screw flippers, what theyre doing is literally illegal, if people had more common sense than money they would just be reporting the flippers to the authorities.
