Thank you. I just installed that Ram Air and the AFE Intake pipe this morning. Your video was a big help. I also installed the Ford Performance ProCal pack all together. Huge difference in pickup. Really woke up the engine.
Totally awesome to hear!! I've just ordered a Gen 4 for my 2020 Ford Ranger XLT Super Cab 4x4! I already have a full aftermarket Mishimoto enclosed cold air intake with their built-in air scoop similar to your AFE scoop. My cold air intake has the non-oiled "dry" cone air filter so no over-oiling or fouling of sensors etc. I also have a custom Livernois Motorsports tunes which I run the "towing" tune for my daily driving due to the fact that this tune emphasizes low to midrange torque. I also have a Mountune Performance heavy-duty, high capacity intercooler to combat the heatsoak issues of all Ford EcoBoost motors + for more consistent performance. I also added an AWE Tuning 3 inch stainless steel exhaust system for some more power + a deep, subtle exhaust note. On my stock (non-FX4) 30.1 inch tires (255/65/17) I consistently get 22-25 MPG in nice weather in everyday mixed/work driving. I've gotten as high as 28.5 MPG (hand-calculated) during highway driving with the cruise control set at 70 MPH. I look very forward to the nice, noticeable power increase you state as well as the 1-2 MPG increase Velossa Tech claims!
Good to hear Kris! You're going to love it! I'm taking a road trip to the beach today and I'm looking forward to seeing my MPG increase! It also makes it more fun to drive, if you can imagine. I love my Ranger, as you can see by my videos.
Hey! Great video Micah. Love your honesty. We are super proud of this one and so glad the community really understands the product and enjoys the benefits. Let us know if you have any suggestions or new products for the Ranger :)
Thanks so much VelossaTech! I did really enjoy the simplicity and ease of installation on this Big Mouth upgrade! If you have anything that you'd like me to test for you let me know via e-mail. uprootedyankee@gmail
Hello Micah. Thank you so much for the great content! Now that it has been months from all the mods you have done, would you do a video on which ones have been most beneficial in value over cost and which mods are you thinking of doing next?? Big fan of your videos teaching us step by step how to install mods. Again, thank you!
Thank you so much! Feedback like this is why I continue to fil how to videos. I love helping people, especially with things that save them money. I did an update video a while back (it's in my Ranger playlist). I can do an updated one soon as well though.
Installing the screw on the left bracket was a pain. The directions it came with didn't help but your video pretty much got me there even though you couldn't film it. As you said remove the 10M screws from the grill so you can get your hand down there. Install the screw on the left first and try to get it through the bracket and line it up so you can use an allen wrench. It took me 15 minutes just to get it lined up to screw it in but I finally got it done.
Very nice. I've modified almost everything on the outside of my 2020 Ford Range XLT FX4 off road so now I'm going to do some more. I like this truck. The turbo is cool and the engine has some bight. Going to order this. Real easy install now I'm wondering about the ram air using the stock hood and air infiltration strips. Looks like a winner. Looking forward to you next and my next purchase. Well done
I watched your videos when I installed my afe intercooler pipes and now I have another great how to for the intake I just ordered yesterday, you the man 👍🏼
Very interesting. It kinda reminds me of the intake scoop on the WWII P51 Mustang with that big scoop underneath. But in this case the scoop is hidden.
Just bought one, wish it wasnt so much though, and still waiting on the mail. I wanted to get it on before a long trip because that is where it should have the best effect. Ill post how much mpg it increases.
I just see fractionally more pressure at moderate speed. The grill is diffusing the ram effect. The plastic guard has the same diameter intel. Marginally you could get cooler air and high pressures. I like how it directs smoothly into the the weird hood piping but there are a lot of restrictive curves.
Complete honesty here. The turbo will pull more air then the ram effect from driving speed. Only thing I can see, is that it actually blocks part of the air path to your radiator.
Hello! Yes you are right, the turbo will 'pull' air, however giving the turbo an easier way to 'pull' air by increasing inlet dynamic pressure is what allows the turbine to run at a lower speed for load targeting tunes. This increases mass flow for boost targeting tunes. Let us know if you have any questions, aero design is our thing :) Also, no worry about blocking the radiator, we tested this product for months in the scorching humid heat of Florida and no issues with cooling at all! The truck loves it! Stay in touch.
Just put this in, if I paid attention to the different length of bolt’s it probably wouldn’t have taken me so long to put in. 😅 me over here wondering why the bolt won’t go back any further 😂… then dropping both bolts into hard to get out areas.😮 there were also lights installed in my grill witch I had to move out of the way to use the extension through the grill, since I didn’t unbolt that part.
I JUST INSTALLED MY WIDE MOUTH AIR SCOOP. THE ONE ALLEN BOLT IS OUTRAGEOUS TO INSTALL WITHOUT REMOVING FRONT GRILL. IT FITS LIKE IT SHOULD ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS WORTH $139.
I am not the Gospel on this, but I don't see how it would. You're just letting more air in. I've been running mine for several weeks now and the truck loves it! Improvement in mileage too!
At the very least you can use the full 80cm wadding ability more safely with a snorkel fitted that Ford allows for the Ranger,🤔 As far as I see fitting this just allows a larger air intake for any bow wave of water 🌊🌊to be ingested then its and possibly a new engine
I'm sure it would. Not so funny story: I ordered the Roush kit and they sent the wrong size cone filter. They gave me such a hassle I would up just sending the whole kit back for a refund.

hi, is this compatible with the new gen ranger?
Hi @VelossaTech
Would you be interested in letting me review it t for the UK and European market?

Yeah it was a pain, sorry for not being able to film that portion of it well. But I'm glad you got it done!
Just did this to my ranger what a difference
I'm glad you like the upgrade! I was suprised when I got a noticeable difference!
Sport mode changed the most in my opinion

Very interesting. It kinda reminds me of the intake scoop on the WWII P51 Mustang with that big scoop underneath. But in this case the scoop is hidden.
Yeah it works great!
Just bought one, wish it wasnt so much though, and still waiting on the mail. I wanted to get it on before a long trip because that is where it should have the best effect. Ill post how much mpg it increases.
Sounds good, I do like the product! It for sure makes a difference.
Fun video! I'm putting one in this weekend. Thank you for play by play, appreciate it. Keep on keepin on, brother
Sean, you're going to love it. Super easy to install and totally not a gimmick!

I just built one with a piece of cardboard and $2 worth of Black Gorilla tape. Lets see how it goes.
Wow! Cardboard and gorilla tape! I'd like to see a picture of that.
Complete honesty here. The turbo will pull more air then the ram effect from driving speed. Only thing I can see, is that it actually blocks part of the air path to your radiator.
Well I can for sure tell the difference in power. So I'm happy with it.
@@MicahMartinDIY Always a good thing to be happy with your purchase. A B testing would be needed to see if there are really gains.

@VelossaTech I have not purchased yet for my ranger just concerned on how much rain would get sucked into the air filter.

Oh yeah, it can be tought to get in there for sure!
Get that ford performance tune! Truck wakes up significantly
Who did your tune for you?
I JUST INSTALLED MY WIDE MOUTH AIR SCOOP. THE ONE ALLEN BOLT IS OUTRAGEOUS TO INSTALL WITHOUT REMOVING FRONT GRILL. IT FITS LIKE IT SHOULD ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS WORTH $139.
Good to hear Roy! Yeah I had that same issue with that silly bolt!
did you check your mileage? better fuel economy?
Heck yeah! It went up nearly 2mpg! I made an update video on this. Check my Ranger playlist.
I wonder if I can install it on my Roush Ranger. Will it mess up the Tune?
I've driven almost 3,000 miles with it on and haven't had any issues! Go for it!
@@MicahMartinDIYhello!! Thanks for sharing! Is it required to get a tune if I get one of these things?
Any idea if it affects the ac/heat at all with less flow through the coils?
I've had it for months now and driven over 20,000 miles with it installed and have not had any issues at all.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Ordered mine about 5 days ago and they haven't shipped it out yet. How long after ordering did it take for Velossa to ship yours?
I'm pretty sure mine took around 5 days. Good luck!
Wouldn't this block some if the air going to the intercooler and radiator?
No it won't block it!
I have a 2021. Does this affect the warranty?
I am not the Gospel on this, but I don't see how it would. You're just letting more air in. I've been running mine for several weeks now and the truck loves it! Improvement in mileage too!
Noice! Now pair it with GFB diverter valve VTA :)
Thanks! I have upgraded my factory blow off valve already. (video is in my Ranger playlist) Does this do the same thing?
@@MicahMartinDIY yes and better. search on here for 2020 ford ranger with gfb vta. Someone did a review for it.
have you installed an oil catch can ?
Yes, I have! You can see the video on my Ranger playlist.
Would a snorkel do the same thing?
I doubt it. Because the snorkel has a few bends that would not "ram" the air straight into the filter box. I don't think they face forward either.

Do you have k/n filter?
Yes I do!
Great video as always!
Thanks Brian! It was a fun one!
no need of tune up?
No tuning required.
Can a roush intake increase my mpg
I'm sure it would. Not so funny story: I ordered the Roush kit and they sent the wrong size cone filter. They gave me such a hassle I would up just sending the whole kit back for a refund.
Next mod nice video 🙏
Thanks Jswerve! Glad you liked it!
