The Roush filter is nearly twice the surface area as stock, less restrictive which adds about 5hp. Otherwise the rest of the factory system is already "cold air", no need to swap parts that don't need swapping.
If you want hp Ford has a tuner setup for $825.00 will give you 45 more hp and 60 ft-lb more torque it includes cold air intake optimized shift schedules it does not void your warranty. The only downside is premium fuel only.
LUV all of the stories. I ALWAYS wondered how Cali life was in the 70s /80s. Reading the magazines from back then gave.me.a idea but always left me wondering.
how is this called a 'cold air intake'? the air is still coming from the same place as the factory setup, it just has a different shaped filter now with a little window to show it off.
The engineers of most cars already try to get the intake far away from the engine (unlike older cars or cars with extremely small engine compartment). As I under stand it, modern 'cold air intakes' just figure out how to get a filter with a larger surface area on filter to allow MORE air in.
The performance is in the larger filter which is almost twice the surface area as stock. The factory system is already cold air no need to reinvent the wheel, just need to let it breathe better.
When I came to the crossroads of the best $400 performance mod to put on my 019 Ranger I was faced with the Roush CAI or a BullyDog/SCT tuner .... the plug and play tuner won. If you want performance go for the Roush ECU recalibration for similar money with real performance and a warranty for your 19/20 Ranger

I like this Ranger and the mods they've made. I would skip this one though. It looks nice but I doubt it does anything for you. Go with the stock setup and maybe buy a better quality air filter and you're good.
Why is it so expensive? I want a cold air intake but I feel the ranger gets the apple priced products. The F150 has affordable CAI's I know it's a newer model but still doesn't seem worth it
I'm picking up the Airaid intake, it's $100 less, replace the entire system instead of being just a lid, and Airaid makes really good products. My friend has one of their intakes on his mustang and loves it.
What happened to that "coolant line" you disconnected on the back of the original air cleaner box??? You did not show reinstalling it... What happened???
Great video! I must say coming from spending thousands on tunes and APR software, intakes etc. This is a waste of money by a long run! Tuning, take your chances but from my experience with one blown engine save your money. I am just here to share my knowledge and do what you want with your toys.

I'll concede that aftermarket "cold air intakes" don't honestly offer much in the way of actual performance gains, but tunes on a forced induction engine do significantly improve performance. The one thing to remember is that a quality tune doesn't reduce engine reliability or integrity. You're not running at 100% power all the time so when you're not really getting into it, the tune isn't actually putting any extra stress on the engine at all.

This seems absolutely pointless you're still sucking air from the same damn spot you going to spend $300 $400 for an air box lid with a plexiglass window and a shiny intake tube
$99 for the new plastic parts and K & N Filter, $300 for the Roush decal.

That is a cold air intake. The oem intake location is getting cold air
Travis J Avery so it’s more like a free flow intake? Seems the smooth “snorkel” is where all(if any)gains would be made

It's just a wire that had a clip that went into the old air box, nothing to be worried about.
You never showed what you did with the coolant line you disconnected, what was done with that?
It’s just holding the line it seems not even connected to the air intake

@Scotty Kilmer so you’re saying i can’t use this??
That's not a MAF sensor.
that air temp sensor most people dont know that
Does this add any engine noise to this extremely quiet engine or is it just for looks?
How much HP increase can we expect from this?
Don’t expect much. Most likely like 5
Did you see improvement in power and gas milage?
Only "big" improvement is usually a better intercooler, but that's dependent on how hot your engine gets. Cooler engines tend to be more efficient.
