I don’t even turn the wheel. Drain the oil first, let it stand. I always use the OEM filter seeing that it has the best fluting for a quality wrench. Bosch filters are supposedly very efficient when considering filtration, but the fluting is horrible. I slip a hose over the funnel and drain that to the pan. No mess.
Nice do you add anything to the O rings and on the plugs? As they say on the instructions. I'm afraid to use anything that gets socked in on the intake.
@@ranger8729 i assume he means heat soke on oem piping which on mine is collapsed due to heat. Its just like that driveshaft vibration that no dealer will accept l. Its there, but no one puts it at the front of the line..
I've had the same experience trying to put these on, with the provided clamps. Micah - On the cold side, I'm having trouble fitting the new pipe into the space and locking it on the intercooler, because of the new boot being so long and stiff, I can't get the aluminum charge pipe straight enough to clamp to the intercooler, so that I can get the boot on the throttle body. Did you have any issues? Any tips? Thanks!
Did you notice any difference in performance smoother throttle through out the lower rpm ranges? What was most impressive about this change in how your ranger operates? I am curious…weighing cost vs improvements? gas mileage?
Should be ok on the warranty as long as you aren't changing internal motor stuff.. plus have an ASE mechanic put it in to keep it under warranty (I'm sure you know that). Ford offers the tune for the ranger and still keeps it under warranty.. I feel they wouldn't offer something like that if they knew it would blow the engine quickly... I did a ton of research for my 2020 ranger before I made any changes to it cause I didn't want to fuck anything up.. I went with the ford tune because the others didn't seem trustworthy to put on it. (I know 5 star is good I just wanted the best for my ranger, engine health wise). I put the mishimoto intercooler + pipes, mishimoto cold air intake, and ford tune and let me tell you it's soooooooooo much better. I still change my oil every 3k miles but man I'm so glad I did all these things to it. It drives way better. I rarely get on the gas but when I need to, it's ready to go!
It's been months and thousands of miles now since I have installed most of these upgrades, some as long as 3 years ago now, and I have not had any issues. I love my Ranger, it always runs great!
I've had a couple issues with mine with installation. On the cold side I'm having a problem lining up the tube with the intercooler. On the hot side 1 of the 3 holes for the blow off valve was stripped where I was unable to mount blow off valve. And to top it off, I'm having a problem with no boost pressure, the blow off valve is leaking or my connections to the intercooler are leaking. Trying to get this all straightened out with AFE.
Neat kit...but...$405 (March 2024) is...WOW! Can't make your performance THAT much better for the money. And, you can't even use half of the fancy (definitely expensive) clamps.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I got the CV fab ones. The actual Pipe slide in perfect but the hose clamps and or rings were a nightmare.
Oh yeah, my knuckles and hands still remember all of the scrapes!
Nice I might get this for my 2021 Ford ranger. But I want the over sized intercooler too I heard the heat soke is bad on these trucks
That's quite an investment, but let me know if you pull the trigger on it!
How are you defining "heat soak" and where have you seen reports of 5th gen rangers suffering from it?

Oh yeah, I had the same problem. It was a major pain in the butt! You just have to muscle it in there! But it will fit eventually!

The acceleration does seem to be a bit smoother. But if I could only do one upgrade, I’d do the intake mods instead. (Go see my Ranger playlist)
Curious about what all these upgrades do for warranty, and engine longevity. Only thing I'm hesitant about

The aftermarket sensor ports. Are those for a boost gauge?
I think so, but I'm not 100% sure.
Looks like my truck from the front. I have a 2022 in white w/black package lol
It's a sexy little truck. Not so little actually. I'm always surprised when I pull up beside an F150 and I'm almost the same size.
@@MicahMartinDIY Yes, I just got mine and was surprised at how large it is.

Ouch. Good luck! I had a lot of trouble getting it installed, but I prevailed and have had no problems since.
How much more hp did you gain? 0?
I don't have a measurement, but it is a noticeable improvement in power.
@@MicahMartinDIY how does a pipe increase power? I want to do this to my ranger but not sure it is of any benefit?
Only improvement is reliability. Pipe does not increase power
Hows mpg after install?
Very good! But I have a few mods that all most likely affect it.
@@MicahMartinDIY do you think intercooler lowers mpg?
Did you have gains from this upgrade?
Yes, I believe so, it did feel better afterwards, but I don't have any test results to prove it.
So you didn’t upgrade your intercooler?
No, just the tubing.

I like the mod, unfortunately I don't have any data to support it though, other than feeling before/after.
Noooo I just checked and I can’t get this in CA 😭
Oh man! That sucks!
I just ordered some from CVF. They mailed them to me in California.
