    IMHO 3" or 3.5" is the best size for a starter. It's less finicky than a tiny whoop, flight feel is pretty close to a 5", but it doesn't have the mass to damage you, others or itself during most crashes.

    • @AlexGFPV
      @AlexGFPV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yep, thats pretty much what i concluded after this. You get performance and durability. Unless sub250 or indoor is super important 3.5 is the way to start!

      i think 2inch is better tbh. a 3 inch can still have a lot of power and depending on the location can still be a bit sketchy to fly in small areas or around people.

    • @AlexGFPV
      @AlexGFPV  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      agreed that 3.5 is a bit too big around people (especially for beginner). That being said 2 inch will be underwhelming in open spaces so depends on location for sure.

    I started on the Cetus X kit and now I'm flying a 3" from AvionRC. Mostly got a 3" for the size. Its just small enough for my own yard and the transition from whoop to a 3" freestyle felt great.

      @AlexGFPV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great! Love to hear it. Do you think the whoop step was worth it or do you wish you went right to 3 inch? Curious if it saved headache or felt like an unnecessary step

    • @orlinn3
      @orlinn3 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AlexGFPV the whoop was definitely worth it for me, and I'm glad I did it the way I did. First, I got a sim, then the whoop kit, and then I bought everything else separately once I knew I was into the hobby. I even learned how to solder due because of this hobby, so once I felt more comfortable learning everything I did on cheap equipment, and now im more confident flying more expensive gear with the knowledge I've learned along the way knowing when something breaks I should be able to fix it and trouble shoot things.

    My Djinn on 6S 650mah with Quicksilver firmware is s little breast. I just got the Flywoo baby nano 20 with walksnail i love the 3.5 inch more than 5 inch. Cheaper too. My Armattan BEAVER is my favorite 5 inch as my arms just came in today and the 3D printed LED feet by FLYHIGH FPV is my only 5 inch that is loaded with LEDs plus the included Armattan racewire that comes with the frame is the final touch

      @@AlexGFPV I love flying the nano but if you crash it's really hard to find in tall grass. The warranty on the beaver doesn't replace the arms and other parts for free IDK what the warranty covers. I had to order another arm and top plate from a battery exploding after take off. But everything else was just fine. I just reprinted some parts for the drone and now I'm still rebuilding it and getting it back in the air again.

      Hello. I suppose it depends what your goals are. If you would like to have one pair of goggles for everything you could do the V2 goggles with an analog module. However, those will probably not work with O4 and would limit you to O3. If you are set on getting O4 i would say your best bet is probably the goggles 3 as many are unsure about the compatibility between o4 and the older goggles.

      I started out on the included Emax remote w/ a Tinyhawk freestyle kit. I switched to a Radiomaster Pocket. It costs $20 more and it's like a 300% better radio.
      Check if it comes with the 18650 batteries. Some do and are priced accordingly, but mine didn't. The top USBC port is used for sims, the bottom can charge the batteries. No external charging required.

    • @AlexGFPV
      @AlexGFPV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had the pocket to start! It is a great controller if you dont want to worry about throwing it in a backpack. The throws are pretty short (the sticks dont move very far), which is fun for freestyle but makes it a little trickier to fly very smooth if you have fast rates. Both controllers work excellent with the simulator - its really a size difference and battery life difference. The pocket gets good battery life, zorro bad. The zorro has longer throws, pocket has short throws. The pocket is small, zorro is a little big with that screen sticking up.

    Why do we go from inch to cm when we talk about whoops

    • @AlexGFPV
      @AlexGFPV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You know I’m not really sure haha. It seems like most people refer to 2 inch drones and above based on the propeller size, whereas whoops are often measured in millimeters diagonally from motor post to motor post. Couldn’t tell you why off the top of my head - maybe someone else could tap in…
