Can't wait to finish mine. I bought the plans and have been building mine with 100% black walnut. We shall see how it turns out. I've also added 12 inches to the length for a longer entry.
Oooo that’s going to look awesome!
Hello John,
The timber you used is very clean and beautiful. nice design. We call it the "hall table". You showed the details well. I also like that you created a room with nylon curtains for painting. Gave me ideas. I should try something like this in paint jobs. you did a good job. Congratulations. Thank you for showing the details. See you anytime. Take care of yourself. Big greetings. Your friend Mehmet
I appreciate it thanks for watching!
@@JohnBuildsIt you're welcome mate. see you anytime.
Thanks! I love the look and simplicity yet professional look of these pieces
Thank you!!
You are still at the top of my list of who to follow when I want to make something. I like how you keep it simple and use simple tools to complete the job (even if you do upgrade once in a while :) ). Thank you for sharing your process!
I appreciate that man thanks for watching!!
Beautiful! While I love the finished product, I always enjoy all the jigs you create to make you work more efficiently. I always think--how ingenious!
Thank you! Always glad when people can pick up and learn something new!
Love the basic design mate. There’s definitely a few elements that I may just. Orrow from this when I pull my finger out and make my own.
Thank you!!
This is my new favourite entryway table video !!!
Well done and thanks for sharing the plans.
I appreciate it!!
I love that your success is leading to newer and better equipment in the shop. The one thing that I liked about your collection of Rigid tools in your older videos was that it made it obvious that most DIYers cold make similar things in their shops with the less expensive equipment. I know that is still true juts not as obvious but the new equipment is really nice! Congrats!
I wrestled with that, but at the end of the day I’m a carpenter first, and I make some TH-cam videos when I can haha. So ultimately the bigger machines and tools are better for my business. Atleast you understand they’re not necessary for everyone! A lot wont and will just use it as an excuse haha
Oh, and I got plenty of negative comments with the Ridgid tools anyways so I figured what’s the difference! Haha thanks for watching man!
@@JohnBuildsIt I didn't realize you were a carpenter by trade. That certainly changes the equation. Productivity and efficiency become even more important! Thanks for the time and effort spent on your videos when you have time to make them!
Excellent build. Lots of details on your methods
Thanks for watching!
You make it look so easy
Some go smoother than others! Haha thanks for watching!
I love your work man, you never disappoint.
Thank you!!
Nice build!
Thank you!
Very nice project and nice build, I don't know how you turned up the drawer stops with the top on, but maybe you could put them on the inside of the draw.
Reached underneath and rotated them up👍🏽there’s several ways you can do it this is just the most hidden
I've always heard that the tapers go on the inside, but it seems to work fine this way too. Perhaps with a fairly shallow taper it just doesn't matter. Nicely done!
Yea just a design element, no right or wrong. Thanks for watching!
Great job buddy!!!
Thank you!
Really like your drawer fronts nice detail thanks
I thought so too! Thanks for watching!
def jelous of the laguna tool set up. nice vid
Thanks! They’re a quality set for sure
Thanks again for another great piece of furniture for our beautiful home that you help build! I think this table completed my orders for now! lol! I absolutely love it and you did amazing beautiful work as usual 🥰
I just realized who this was! Thanks for requesting the things he builds on his channel. You guys make a great team!
Looks so nice
Thank you!!
Nice work John. Looks great.
Thank you!
Nicely done as usual!
Thanks Matt!
This is a great looking design! 👏🏼
Thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
Such a beautiful table loved the video
Thanks man!
I am building this, this will be my second one. The first was nice but l know I can make it better.
Awesome! 👍🏽
Regarding the rabbets on the false drawer fronts matching the dimensions of the drawer exactly so that the drawer recesses into the frame... Couldn't you have just used a thinner piece for the front and attached directly to the drawer?
Thought about it, but material that thin would be way more likely to cup or something over time, plus there’d hardly be any depth to screw into when attaching it to the box
Always love watching your builds! Inspires me to get out to the shop and get building
Awesome man glad to hear!
Yet another great build!!! Shop looking awesome!!!
Thanks I appreciate it!!
What a beautiful piece😍. Flawless woodworking skills. New subscriber here so I will be following in hopes that one day I can become this skilled to produce furniture at this level. Thank u so much for ur content
Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for the video, you explain everything very clearly hard to find with wood working. Only thing I suggest is getting yourself some proper tools to push your pieces through the table saw all it takes is one slip and boom there goes your finger or hand. Just just looking out for you bud.
I noticed that you used to use BIN oil-based primer, similar to the one you linked to in the description, but later changed to the Kem Aqua surfacer. Any particular reasons for this? The BIN is easier to obtain for me, though I don’t look forward to cleaning my gun after using non-water paints!
I just try different products sometimes. BIN is my usual primer
@@JohnBuildsIt Thanks, John. Would the water-based version of BIN primer be sufficient, or would you stick with the oil-based one? It's twice the price and I'm not quite sure if my spray gun can handle the oil version.
Looks really nice.
Thanks!!
That looks so great! Thank you for posting!
Thank you!!
So when painting the edge of the MDF, do you just sand in-between coats of primer to get the little fuzzys to look smooth?
Yep! 👍🏽
@@JohnBuildsIt have you ever tried a product on the edges called sanding sealer? I've been told it works better than recounting and resanding over again
This is a beautiful piece my friend.. I love the look of the Poplar. Did u use Poplar, don't know if I spelled it correctly, for the top of the unit? The grey is really sweet looking man.. I was wondering how u got that groove cut into the legs.
I'm a wee bit envious of ur machines u have in the shop. They are real nice bro.
I don't have the spare reddies to blow on something so nice but we gotta work with what we have so I have enough tools to get something like it.
Poplar is a lovely wood. Is that one of the softer Hardwoods? I ;ove the look of the grain in this wood.
U built a stunning looking piece and the face frames with Pocket holes are real nicely done too. This is where pocket hole jigs really shine imho.
Thank you!! The top is Ash, then the rest is poplar
What dimension square were your legs?
Great video. Is there an alternative less expensive topcoat similar to General Finishes Enduro Poly at the big box stores? The closest i've come up with is the poly stains but I don't think those have good coverage. Any thoughts?
I’ve used the Minwax polycrylic before and it’s pretty decent
I’m about to do the same type of upholstered top to a playroom bench. Debating between a regular staple gun and a narrow crown stapler. The length of crown staples worried me. Would a regular staple gun be a massive mistake?
Not an upholstery expert but I think any kind of staple would be just fine 👍🏽
Great build John! Can you provide part info for the telescoping supports you used for your plastic sheets
Yea they’re already linked in the video description! Zipwall poles. Kind of pricey but worth it over time with all the time saved
fantastic dude.
Thanks!
Great job as always looks great 👍
Thanks man!
Good job 👏
very nice!
Thanks man!
I love the title of this haha! Great video and build as always!
A couple more names for it have been recommended too! Haha
Here's a random question. Why do you refer to the drawer fronts on this build as 'false drawer fronts'? I'm still pretty new to woodworking, so hopefully that's not a dumb question. It just seems like any other drawer front to me, so why the 'false'? Another awesome build. Cheers!
In a lot of styles the actual drawer front is the front piece of the actual drawer box. Here I’m adding a second layer “false” front
amasing!
Thank you!!
That looks really good where you put it!
Thank you!
Awesome as always. I think with that space under the bottom shelf would be a great "secret compartment" for an AR or something like that 🤣. It's prob the Texan in me thinking about this 👌🏻🦅🇺🇸🔴⚪🔵
Haha good idea!
What are the poles that you used to set up the painting 'room'? I need some of those for the same purpose
Zipwall. They’re linked in the description 👍🏽well worth the cost
@@JohnBuildsIt thanks!
Great piece! Nice job but now my wife wants one. Looks like it will be my next project.
It’s a pretty quick fun build!
What were the components you used to put up your spray booth?
Zipwall poles. They’re linked in the video description 👍🏽
@@JohnBuildsIt sorry, I didn't see them.
How much does a planer like that cost? Beautiful work btw
It’s gone up quite a bit since I got it unfortunately, I believe it’s around 4500 right now
I love it!!
Thank you!!
Nice
*Pleaseeee Tell Me!! Why do all Entry Tables from (Amazon walmart other funriture stores)say that they are 30" Height but look taller?? In pics i measured and seems like they are short if they really are that tall are they not mesuring right????
bravo
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Darn niceeeeeeee
Thanks!
Foyer table?
Oh jeeze I feel like that is another name for it! 😂haha
Wow
Today is not that day. LMAO
😂😂
Beatutifu
Thanks!!
It’s so much easier with a $100,000+ shop to work in lol
Wouldn’t know, but I’m sure!
Maybe I don't in this world, if I make something I pass it forward at no charge as in ''more power to you if you can build it''' Now if I make the piece, that piece can be sold, which is a different story.
Not sure what you mean man!
@@JohnBuildsIt I made a Korean joinery table, one of a kind since no one has made but me :) If you want I'll send you my draft for such or nice domino tables . Right now I'm doing my living room table. I can send you the plans for free bro, that's what I'm saying. (for yours plans you want $10.00.)
John, learn what it's called before you build it.! Awesome job with an amateur title..!!
It’s called all of these things, that’s why this is the title haha. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Should have been an A++. But, as my Jr. High Shop teacher would say:
"I saw you spreading glue with your fingers so you get an F"
I cannot believe that someone with $10k in top of the line Laguna Tools would do such a rookie thing. Spend a couple of bucks on a box of flux brushes if nothing else.
Wow, a 16 minute video of a build and all you got out of it was a negative...you should be so proud
I have several brushes. Sometimes I prefer this and find it faster and easier. Don’t see anything wrong with that lol.
So, that “F” that you got in shop all those years ago is still eating you up? Bummer, man …
It’s a great build @John Builds It
