Loved your table and easy to follow instructions. I made one modification to use two x’s on each end (one for each shelf). Couldn’t be happier with results. Thanks for the clarity of directions that even a novice woodworker could follow.
I’m doing this one tomorrow. I have a handyman business. But I am venturing into the idea of doing this for money. I live in West Virginia and most people love this stuff. I enjoy this. I like to use my nail gun to pin joints together when using Kreg screws, or if I am countersinking screws. It helps prevent the screws from "walking" on me- even when clamped. Makes an extra strong joint in my opinion. Love this project, I've sold a few already, and built one for my wife for our house.

This is not a critique, it is maybe a preference because I have some weird quirks I love how it turned out but I would have lowered the middle shelf so it is centered on the X. However very beautiful pieces and I picked up a tip with the urethane sealer so thank you.

cant see if you have plans for this one on your website, definitely want a set to go with my table and bench please. Might also try and make a console table like this but in the sides looking more like the table and bench so it all fits together. The console table could go up against a wall or something...
19 and 52 are the angles based on other dimensions. For each triangle you would have 2 19 degree totaling 38 and 1 52 for a total of 90 degrees for each triangle. Hope this helps. It eliminated that tiny bit of gapping he had on the ends
one recommendation, as you are cutting the boards for the top where you are going to use the z clips, I wished I had ran it through the table saw, to create the groove the z clips fit into. I found router was to tall after the fact and I don't have a biscuit joiner.

I really like this table. Thinking of making one for our kitchen to hold a small toaster oven. The question I have is why do you use the level on your table saw between the fence and work piece?
The level moves with the board, thereby giving the board a straight edge to reference. If you just use the fence, the edge being cut is referencing the other side of the board. Which is typically never truly straight.

I have tried the half laps multiple times, they are very difficult. especially when all i have at my disposal is a skill saw and a miter saw.... but very nice table!

Approximately $50 in lumber. Paint, stain, and clear coat will depend on brand and quality. I use higher quality paints and clear coats so my coat is higher.

The ones used to attach the shelfs are 1 1/4" Kreg has a size chart you can use here: www.kregtool.com/about-us/news/kreg-tool-tips-joining/choose-the-correct-screw-length.aspx Since I was using 3/4" thick shelves, I used the 1 1/4" screws to attach them. Hope that helps.

Hope you don't mind me asking but how do the flush mount shelves hold up to seasonal wood movement? i didn't know if the frame would help keep it from moving to much or if the wood was stress the joints to the point of cracks forming. Generally curious no disrespect intended, i know some people are a bit uppity about the wood movement topic. Thanks man great content keep it up.
Hello! I haven't had any issues with any of the items I've made. Some are 3 years old at this point. I've made several of these tables. I think one thing that helps is I'm using 1 by spruce wood on the shelves and not yellow pine. Hope that helps.

+731 Woodworks - hey thanks for the reply. a general question of i may? how does the temp you are working in effect the final product? if i build when it's cold, how does the piece behave when it gets warm?
As long as it is indoors it shouldn’t have too much effect on it. Obviously the wood will naturally expand and contract with moisture and temperature but this should be minimal if it is indoors the climate should be controlled. I build all of my furniture in my garage and temps range from very cold to very hot depending on when I build the item. However when it is finished they are moved and kept indoors.

Have you heard of 2x4 this are studs use for framing walls and even a house he uses regular wood from your local lumber store

I use pine. If you can get good hardwood it is better but for farmhouse style pine works fine

Thank you. 731 is my wife and I anniversary. July 31. If you paint, it’ll likely cover up the wood grain unless you distress it or stain.

If it was significantly smaller I would make smaller legs. But if it was only slightly smaller i would leave them this size. Hope that helps.
+731 Woodworks - hey thanks for the reply. a general question of i may? how does the temp you are working in effect the final product? if i build when it's cold, how does the piece behave when it gets warm?
As long as it is indoors it shouldn’t have too much effect on it. Obviously the wood will naturally expand and contract with moisture and temperature but this should be minimal if it is indoors the climate should be controlled. I build all of my furniture in my garage and temps range from very cold to very hot depending on when I build the item. However when it is finished they are moved and kept indoors.

Do you have a sketch up plan for this or any type of cut list or anything? It would be greatly appreciated :)! Also where did you get that extension for your drill to drive screws in?

I’m using water based paint. Sherwin Williams Pro Classic. For the primer I’m using Sherwin Williams quick dry, stain blocking primer.
