Here I learned a trick from a kid after 35 years and never gave it a thought. I love the corner blocks. Those corner block aesthetics truly set these cabinets off. Really good job kid. You earned a subscriber...
Love the toe kick. My buddy have been a professional trim and cabinet man for 30 years. He builds his cabinets in place fully custom and he does that toe kick detail. It’s awesome
This is the first video of yours that I've seen, I have to say that you are indeed a skilled mechanic. Your idea for the toe kick has actually found its way on a project of mine, so thank you for the idea. I always try to find different designs to use and this one clicked right away. I look forward to seeing what else your minds eye creates.👍
All the "thumbs down" votes are actually cabinet makers who are upset they didn't think of half of the tips John uses in his videos. Nice work, John. I learned a thing or two and am glad I watched. Subbed as well. Looking forward to your other videos. (used to work with a cabinet maker and you have some good tricks of the trade that even I haven't been taught).
I agree with you.... I am a cabinet maker and was impressed with all the little measuring and placement techniques he uses... end result is great! nice work. Not everything has to be hand milled walnut and hand cut joinery to be a good build.
Thanks for showing the steps clearly & concisely with shortcuts to completion that don't compromise the structure of the cabinet! Your finished project looks great. My family has many custom woodworkers, including myself, & there are way too many DIY shortcuts that end up being horrible long term "solutions".
to help keep the foam insulation on the table when cutting down the full sheets, use some of the command strips for hanging posters. They're removable and hold well enough to keep it from slipping around.
The thing I love about TH-cam is the wealth of knowledge and experience at your fingertips. I would've never thought to save scrap blocks of wood for future use to adjust ANY of my tools. Looks like I got a project for the week. Subscribed and followed on the gram.
You make it look easy! However, you also do a great job explaining everything. And you show some tips and tricks that are absent in other woodworking videos. Thanks! Subscribed.
watched this video over and over. finally woke up and bought it this morning. bought plywood $36 per 4x8 and poplar $1.75 sq ft yesterday from lumber yard. starting the build today!
Imagine being able to just build any furniture you see instead of buying it 😮I'm just getting into carpentry myself, built a pump house and deck so far 👍
Excellent work! These look better than the expensive cabinets in the big box stores and are clearly built stronger can’t wait to do this type of work myself!! Inspirational!
Wow! I am a cabinet maker by trade and your attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness is great, man! Inspiring! I can learn a lot from watching guys like you!!
@@JohnBuildsIt And a good quality square. Everything turns out right and falls into place if you get it all square right from the very beginning. And lots of clamps or you will have to wait a few hours in between drying times if you only have a few.
Awesome build, nearly flawless! Because the vanities will be exposed to moisture, and will definitely get wet at least once when installing the sink plumbing, better protect the raw surfaces with poly. Also, a trick to trimming off the edge banding quickly is to just straight up sand the excess with a random orbital sander. No need to fuss with razor and sanding block!
the little tips and tricks are why I like woodworking videos. like the spacer block usage in this one. most people don't think of those things even if they use them.
Been on TH-cam for years but just found your channel this week. I’ve really enjoyed your videos. I’m a home woodworker myself and have made many cabinets, so the only reason I clicked on this one was because I noticed the toe-kicks in the video thumbnail were different. Otherwise, I’ve seen to many cabinet build videos and have built PLENTY myself. I wanted to watch your video because of those toe-kicks. I love it, they look great. So much in fact I think I’ll use them on my next cabinets. You do very nice work, you’re very professional and very detail oriented. Nice job. You have a new subscriber.
Let me start by saying that this was easily one of my favorite videos on building a cabinet. Simple, paced nicely, explained very well and the little extras were amazing. Just subscribed and can’t wait to see what else you’ve done. I. Also curious about the tops, where did you get the countertops from? Links?
I've got to say, John. Amazing job. I love how simple this build is, yet gorgeous, elegant, and truly would look great in any bathroom. Yep, new subscriber here!!!
Bro, when u say u will post links to everything u used, u really mean it! The only person I have seen be this thorough in posting the links! Good vid, good build!
John Builds It how do you like your rigid jointer? I do a lot of cabinet work also and really need one for the rough cut lumber I use to build the doors with but haven’t been able to decide on brand yet. I’ve looked at rigid and it seems like it’s well built but have never used a rigid yet. Thank you and take care
Don Pfeiffer I have no complaints with it, works perfect and the price was right! I’ll eventually upgrade, not because it’s poor quality, just because it’d be nice to have a bigger one for a lot of the stuff I make
@@JohnBuildsIt The tools list is great. Any chance of adding a materials list? I love the eye catching title "2 for the price of half" but I'd like to price what you used and I'm not even a full beginner yet.
You had me at toe kick! Watching at fast speed is a little well very intimidating, but I'm a rookie dreaming of a well made vanity. I have to SUBSCRIBE. Who knows I may get the guts to try! Very good video!
This was about the best $8.00 that I ever spent! Since I don’t have a router table, I built the drawer fronts out of solid maple(gluing required). I really like the look. The Kreg drawer guides worked great instead of using scrap spacer pieces. I used 1/8” Strips of scrap wood under the drawer fronts as spacers. Because this was a first for me, I didn’t glue as many parts as you did, figuring that I might need to some steps over. GREAT PLANS AND ACCOMPANYING VIDEO! I’m a subscriber!
