  • Today we're unboxing and temporarily fitting a Delkevic 4-1 exhaust system to the Honda cb750 Cafe Racer. We need to do this to check the positioning of the potential exhaust mount before we remove the engine from the frame.

    that is a good looking exhaust ! on my cb750 nighthawk, its a 4-4 exhaust, a total nightmare because im trying to transform that into a good looking 4-2 using the oem exhaust . keep on the good work and ,as always, have fun doing it .

    4 to 1 was definately the way to go on this. Looks really good! I have a question regarding my first build. I have no idea what to do with the crankcase ventilation system! Should I buy one of those filters that just clamp on to a hose and leave it at that? What have you done for the GS550 and CX500? What do people do, generally, when building cafe racers or scramblers? Doesn't seem to be much info on the internet about this. Thanks so very much!!

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what they're there for but as for when I'm not 100% sure. The best thing I stick to is if your bike has ventilation pipes don't block them, use filter pods, if the ventilation holes are bolted up, I leave them

    That exhaust looks fantastic! I do have a small suggestion for ya though from my days working at a car factory. There are silicone ring covers you can get to wear over your wedding band so it doesn't scratch or dent the metal and/or paint. Cheap and really worth it in my opinion and that way you can keep your band on. I can't wait to see where you go with this build though!

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks and thanks for the suggestion, I'm always paranoid that if I take it off I'll lose it.

    • @kbowen2251
      @kbowen2251 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the feeling! I have a tungsten band myself and with some of the work I do I keep a silicone cover around just to keep from scratching or denting something. Should be able to find something on amazon and then you can keep a baggie of them in the shed haha P.S. electrical tape can work for now as well

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      good thinking, hadn't thought of electrical tape.

    • @kbowen2251
      @kbowen2251 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only thing about the tape is it will need to be replaced frequently. That's why I still recommend the silicone cover.

    Hey when you paint the engine, you should polish the tips of the cooling fins and put some really thin masking tape over the polished tips. That makes the engine really pop.

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That and functional also, it's pretty much a must do if you're painting air cooled engines as the heat needs to escape, undecided yet with what to do to the engine. Waiting for the customer to decide.

  • @chrisbruins21
    @chrisbruins21 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks great ! I'm building a 82 750 F. Just curious if the exhaust leaves room for a nighthawk oil cooler from the filter cap? Was leaning towards carpy's but after seeing this one it looks great and seems like a little more affordable price point ?

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good question. Not sure about the post 80 models. In fact not even sure about this one yet. I’m fitting the exhaust this week again with the oil filter on. I’ll let you know.

    • @chrisbruins21
      @chrisbruins21 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awsome thanks I know I asked delkevic but they didnt really get the question. But they did say the 900 and 750 are the same and I think the CB 900 stock came with oil cooler.

    Is it designed for just a straight pipe or does it take a silencer also? After watching this I bought it also, but only a straight pipe came with it. Is that the way it is designed. I then ordered jets from 6sigma.... 120 main and 78 secondary. Plus running pod filters.... it needed jets to match the air flow.
    1982 cb 750 k

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s designed to take the delkevkc 63mm silencer too. Only thing I’d say is to use K&N pods too. Any cheap brand is just like adding water to your fuel

    • @Mstrndizguyz
      @Mstrndizguyz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      are you saying a silencer instead of the straight pipe, take off the straight pipe and add the silencer?🙃 And by the way , you are an inspiration to my work on this bike. Its my first attempt and I'd be honored if you would look at a couple pics and add input. I can email if you like with my thought line and the direction of this build.

    In Brazil, this Bike is very rare and expensive. But, the engine is the same as the brazilian CBX 750. So I bought one and am now buying some parts. The project is a bit more difficult to execute because the CB is more "ready" to become a cafe racer than the CBX. But I'll be starting the tear down proccess this week. Would you mind take a look at the CBX 750 and see if the original gas tank will be a problem or will do? Thank you very much, apprecciate your videos. Since my bike is monoshock I already bought a dual shock and will install.

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're pretty rare and expensive here too to be honest. Good luck with yours. Without actually measuring I couldn't say if the gas tank would be an exact swap, but you can fabricate frames etc to fit.

      No hair dye, just a different light and a new black painted wall behind me to cast a shadow.

    Hi,
    Why do you not take the full kit with the muffler ?!
    I'm already customising my 1979 cb750 kz ( insta: Oliv_lag) if you want to communicate for tips for this bike!!
    I fitted spoked wheels on her;-)

      We weren't sure what muffler to add and the ones they had on their existing kits were too long for the look we were going for, but we might get the 12" muffler so it doesn't poke out too long and have the removable baffle for the straight through system.

    Spring arrives in February in the UK?? Not fair, we don't get spring weather until mid/late April in east coast Canada... in fact, the worst is yet to come from winter. Brrrr

      I think it's the forever optimist in me. We can get bad Februarys but towards the time March is here is can be warm-ish.

    The original wasn't a 4 into 2 it was two 2 into ones . You could have modified that into 4 into 1 and did a wrap.

      It’s on the proper exhaust fitting video in the series. The engine wasn’t in a fit state to start in this one

      @@forthebold I don't see a video with that name. Oh well. I guess I'll find out when I install mine. But I'm curious if you know where the silicone gel that comes with this kit goes... ??? And if there are any special rules to apply it (like, let it dry first, or "glue" the parts together with it)?
