- Dear friends, I hope you’re well and I’m very happy to share this new video, where I’m playing with great musicians one of my favorite violin pieces, introduction and Rondo capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saëns !
Saint-Saëns composed this work in 1863. Like many composers who write concertos for instruments they do not play, Saint-Saëns welcomed the advice of the great Spanish violinist, Pablo de Sarasate, when he composed music for solo violin. They met when Sarasate was just fifteen and Saint-Saëns twenty-four, and at the famous violin had approached Saint-Saëns hoping that he would compose something for him to play. « As if it were the easiest thing in the world, he had come quite simply to ask me to write a concerto for him ». Saint-Saëns, like Bruch, Lalo, Joachim, Wieniawski, and Dvořák in the coming years, was flattered and charmed by Sarasate’s request, and agreed at once. The first work he composed for Sarasate, completed that same year (1859), was his A major violin concerto. Four years later, he wrote this Introduction and Rondo capriccioso, a brief work with a reflective opening, almost like an operatic recitative and a dazzling aria full of fireworks, tailor-made to show off Sarasate’s famed technique. It immediately became standard virtuoso fare.
Many people already arranged the piece for clarinet, but I decided to do my own arrangement, trying to make it sound as natural as possible, and after long hesitation (I first tried Bb clarinet and D clarinet), I chose to use an A clarinet to respect the original key.
Let me know what you think about it ! And if you like it you can already order the arrangement on www.clarinet-edition.fr/partit...
Of course I would like to thank Mathilde Calderini (flute), Hélène Devilleneuve (oboe) and Marie Boichard for joining me with such talent on this video ! 🙏🙏🙏✨
Have a nice Sunday and take care ! - เพลง
Why doesn't everyone stop what they are doing and binge watch this channel?
Thank you so much! If you look for a community manager job 😁
And Saint-Saens is in the audience! 3:33
Bravo for noticing !!! 🤩🤩🤩
!!!!!
yes, I saw him too! Thanks for pointing him out!
This is to good to be true,I meen Fantastic playing…nothing more to say from me…Yes,the cloning and the arragment is also on the sublime side..
The thing I like the most about Nicolas is that he seem like he practice every second of the day but he cares a lot about his fans and always like their comment also comment on them this guys is such a nice person 🎼🎼🎼😀
Thank you so much ! I’m really grateful for these nice comments and try to answer as often as I can 😊🙏🏼
I think we are very fortunate to have people like Nicolas Baldeyrou who are constantly pushing the limits and boundaries of the instrument, and bringing it to never-before-seen heights! Truly the Paganini of Clarinet! :)
Thank you so much!
I know, cloning of humans is ethically problematic, but in this case is totally justified.
😂😂 thank you Benno ! Especially during lockdown !
3:33 Saint-Saens è in sala che ascolta😲🔝
Yesss ! Bravoooo !
I'm pretty sure you are the most amazing clarinetist in the world
Did Andi Ottensamer die?
Absolutely
@@swaglord5909 Not yet.. fortunately, he did not see this video. But if he would, who knows !
Amen. You make it sound so effortless. And all the musicality is all there. TwoSet should give you a subs bump. Clearly a LingLing clarinet level here
Thank you so much Victor !
I mean for me he’s not a ling ling, because I associate the concept of ling ling with only playing Paganini and Wieniawski at a blazing speed, being very technical and a show-off. He’s more like a Hilary Hahn. An impossibly good musician who uses their flawless technique merely as a tool to achieve the musical results they envision.
@@FranciscoCunha2004 Ling Ling can flex Paganini's or any pieces with the Perlman's effortlessly and Janine's intensity with Hilary's speed, all at the same time
Nicolas! You're the best clarinete player ever and outstanding musician! And Your friends too!
I wish I could like this every time I listen to this piece, it amazes me each and every time.
Thank you so much :-))
Your arrangement is so solid, flawless and beautiful. If I hadn't known the piece is originally written for violin I'd have thought this rondo is for clarinet. Amazing as always. Thank you for your hard work!
That’s a wonderful compliment for an arranger, thanks so much Raúl !
Excellent performance...
Fantastic: Nicolas BALDEYROU and friends (all friends are identical...) Bravo..!!
it's very impressive, it's great on La Clarinet, I never imagined that this piece could sound so fantastic on the clarinet ! bravo! Especially I love the music of Saint-Saens, especially the organ symphony.
Thank you so much !

Got to love you, Nicolas, for your musicality, technique, humor and enthusiasm. Your channel is one of the best things that came out of this corona crisis.
Excelente!? Bravisimo!
Ah...If only I had grown up understanding that double-tonguing would be "of course" on the clarinet. If I had TH-cam growing up, I might have grown up knowing the level that humans could reach in musicality and technique ("You can play the Nielsen Concerto? Bah! So what?!"). You are amazing and inspiring. Much respect.
You are AMAZING!!
Awesome playing. 🙂
