- I’m really happy to share with you my new arrangement of Mendelssohn Scherzo from a Midsummer Night’s Dream for clarinet quartet ! And the best way to check how it sounds is to try it at home 😄😄😄😄✨ If the music is absolutely fantastic, it’s also a fantastic piece for pedagogic purposes, working on the clarinet orchestral excerpts, on staccato speed, precision and lightness, on tempo stability, on left hand etc. Hope you’ll like it ! It is absolutely fantastic. The speed, sound color, tempo , clearness of the staccato and then to compile the quartet sound. Bravo very creative!!!! I’m a clarinetist too, and adore it. This is beyond beautiful sound and joy of Mendelssohn on another level. Bravo Nicolas!!!!!!
you've arranged this piece so well. this is normally a very difficult excerpt for me. clearly not for you cause this sounds so smooth yet accurate and precise. i aspire to be as good as you oneday

how do you make these? the rhythm is so precise and the 4 Nicolases do rubato together too, but I don't see an earbud with a click track playing or something. do you just have that good internal rhythm? amazing!
Jeffrey Hodes I record only the audio and then make a video lip syncing to that. But it is possible that Nicolas is just THAT good

This sounds exactly like Vienna clarinet connection's arrangement and style. Assuming you didn't use their audio, you sound like them too. Very impressive

Congratulations. An amazing clarinet player, talented player as well as arranger. Here is a challenge: next time you do a quartet (or other size ensemble), with this place setting, try to interact with yourself. Overall, very, but very well done.
Waving the horns around causes phasing, ala Sabine Meyer.
What kind of mouthpiece do you use? What do you think about Vandoren BD5 mouthpiece?
