Note the two tones, that's what makes it so powerful. The first tone is questioning surprise, as he's reacting to what he just discovered, the second tone is final and accusatory. I reflect on that scene a lot.

This is so very David Cronenberg. Brilliant. No-one else has vision like that which takes place in his dark plumbings. The brief, horrific exchange of deaths, so to speak, with genius Colleen Dewhurst as Mrs. Dodd! Wow! Great great great 👍 Can’t thank you enough for airing this .

Cronenberg is so skilled at creating a sparse yet hefty palette in scenes & sets. To me he collages “Canadian-ness” northern North Hemisphere climate, art, history, myth & edge of terror of the night. I note this with all due admiration.

Damn, Colleen Dewhurst. When they were casting this movie, they didn't skimp on any of the parts. Every role played to perfection.

When Johnny whispers, " I saw his face...I saw his face " at 1:43, the goosebumps rise! I noticed throughout the movie that Walken would repeat a line and give a different inflection every time. Great acting!

0:12 growl of a contra bassoon was always a great creepy sound in old TV and movie soundtracks from the earlier 1970s to this film, then they changed the musical ideas.
Now it's all flash BANG, whallop!

Who knew Marilla Cuthbert could be such a sharp shooter but poor Marilla; she didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to Anne Shirley

At 5:49 when Tom Skerritt hits his head on the door the music and sound affect is straight from the movie "Alien" in which he also starred...maybe a nod to that film?

The boy had his service pistol with him, yet he killed himself in a way where he could have easily screwed up and lived a life of pain. What an ass. Lmao

I think that Stephen King is an amazing writer and he opened up the world 2 psychic abilities!! But what people do not realize is that we all have that power we just have to learn how to harness it and use it properly
