it really is. I'm pretty confident that no one else could give a line like that the gravitas that Chris Walken just did.
The entire sketch is flawless as a written and performed piece of comedy.

Walken gives more intensity and truth to a comedy sketch than most actors do in a serious drama. He could read the phone book and scare the bejesus out of you.
Seems like he had a bit of a hard time hitting his lines. He got out of character a couple of times also.
@@Refreshment01If he did slip out a little it’s only because he was genuinely amused by it all. Walken is famous for his sinister offbeat mind warp roles but he’s actually a naturally humorous guy in real life and loves comedy.
The best hosts always give 110%. He just goes all in for every skit, and I love it.
For the past 35 years, every single time I’ve gotten an ice cream headache I think of this sketch

I will always have a fondness for Christopher Walken's shaken "Dead Zone" stare when he grabs someone's hand. My mom used to impersonate his shaken stare when she grabbed my hand. It was something that always made us laugh. I miss her and her goofiness so much. 😔

@@colonelkurtz2269 The story gies that Phil's wife was a recovering addict and Andy Dick got her back on drugs and alcohol. She had been drinking and doing coke when she murdered him. Jon Lovitz (Phil's close friend) slamed Andy's head into the bar at a restaurant because of it.
There wasn't any better guest host on SNL than Walken. Every single episode he was on was comedy gold. Dude carried every skit on his own shoulders
What a classic. Great premise, so well executed, Walken's delivery. And the 6 seconds of complete dead air as Walken searches for the line "you're gonna leave the coffee in the cab!" I laughed several times, usually it's just a smile or a chuckle with SNL.
Best line is at the beginning 'I..DON'T...KNOW!" as only Christopher Walken could deliver it.
The sketch, the MAN, the sound effects....undeniable perfection!

"Ya gonna get an iiiicee cream headache." Its the most Christopher Walken line of the sketch.
That line was so weird I knew it had to come from the man himself!

Funny to see Walken lampoon his Johnny Smith character from The Dead Zone. The movie itself was one of the best adaptations of a King novel. Excellent actors and Cronenberg's direction made for a quiet horror tale. No one who saw the film will ever forget Walken's delivery of one line. " The ICE is gonna BREAK! " A real winner!

Walker is a national treasure. Anytime he’s on SNL, he just lights up the screen and delivers the laughs 😂
"The Trivial Psychic" is one of my favorites sketches!
Mine too. Another favorite is This Old House starring
John Larroquette as Bob Villa in a haunted house. But I haven't been able to see the clip in ages, just the transcript. This cast's episodes don't seem to be available for streaming, and they got short shrift when they did the SNL by the decades as they were part '80s, part '90s.
Tom Hanks' no short term memory guy is right up there, too.

I remember watching this the night it came out and laughing so hard. There's so much going on. I love how they all jump when he jumps and how he clutches the people while he's having his visions. The final punch line with Chris Rock was perfect, a perfect way to end it. No one breaks, no holding back laughter, all pros.
The demented look on Walken's face makes me laugh every time!
Plus the sound of when he gets a vision.
Dead Zone is one of my favourite movies of all time. So glad SNL used it as a basis for a skit.
I miss this time in SNL. Grew up watching these.

The Carvey/Hartman/Hooks/Myers era crossing into the new guys of rock/farley/spade was amazing. I know some love Farrel, but 1988-1996 was gold
The fact that this man is in the most powerful scene in cinema history(Deer Hunter) yet is completely able to have a tremendous sense of humor just goes to show how absolutely cool he is.
Fell in love with him in Deer Hunter and have loved him ever since, what a great actor!

This sketch is such a classic. Rob Schneider and Julia Sweeney's genuine fear for the worst always gets me 😂 That and the cleaning lady being "annoyed" haha.. the good ol days of SNL!
I think he is one of the best SNL repeat guests. Everything I see with him...just fantastic.

One of the cleanest sketches on Saturday Night Live, good clean humor from the very first second to last.
A rarity for SNL. Thinking of all the past stars that were on SNL, Eddy Murphy, John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase. Clean is not the word I would use to describe their humor.

oh MAN, memories unlocked. Walken on SNL was always my favorite and theres so many great quotes from this skit.
"I see a large stack of papers on your desk and I see you finishing them by 5 o'clock."

I get the impression that Christopher Walken comes from this old school performer tradition where people were trained so well in the fundamentals that they could do anything. He's been the lead, he's been the support, he's been hilarious, he's been serious, he's danced, and sang, and hosted, and been a guest, and the whole time he's been amazing.
1:53 kills me, his delivery and ability to stay in character is hilarious.

Walken is so awesome, was great to see Phil Hartman again, that guy was hilarious and extremely under rated

This SNL cast from '91-'94 or so was absolutely loaded with future superstars and others who went on to very bankable careers. Phil Hartman and Chris Farley are comedic legends who died way too early.
Yeah, I watched this sketch for the first time and was already excited that it features Walken but every time a new character enters you'll see another young version of a now-legendary comedian.

Chris Walken has become an all time absolute favorite actor. The Deer Hunter gave me my first view of CW in a film that I had pushed aside thinking it would be another dud Vietnam movie. Boy did I blow that one. Walken was the intense character but never let on his pent up feelings in the usual way.
Many movies later and I am always looking for a new release of his to appear. Pulp Fiction to King of New York his versatility is astounding. Damn good dancer too!

This is so old that I take it for granted that when guys like sandler and rock walk into the scene without thunderous applause it's because they were just guys on SNL back then.

Yes, one character in the movie, portrayed by the great Martin Sheen,(Ramon Estavez) has an uncanny number of traits with someone you see from time to time whining on social media. The character was Greg Stillson, you should be able to guess who that someone is.

This is hilarious, and relatable. I have precognative dreams sometimes, use to all the time as a teen. Always in movies, psychics see such profound things. I would see myself in class, doing a math equation with a formula I'd never used before. Or would know when I was about to find a bee, on the sidewalk.
SO funny! I always have premonitions and they're hilariously mundane, like "suddenly knowing someone will knock on the door and have an unexpected package for me." 😁

My dreams zero warning when a relative dies, or when I had to evacuate due to a fire this summer. I got a week, an entire week, of warning that they had changed the design of the bottle, of the shampoo I use.
This power in some way could be useful, because sometimes the most insignificant of things can lead to Major disasters. Like he says you drop your phone on the ground and you take your eyes off of the road then he stops there and then you don't do that and you see the guy in just enough time
