    To the point and excellent review. Just got a 3 R and super happy with it. Use the go pro mount for a light and the angle is perfect

    I love my Super 3R but just noticed the plastic tab broke where the rear latch grabs the removable chin bar. Been looking at the Super DH as an upgrade. Thanks for helping me avoid the Super Air👊🏻

    • @DirtTrampMTB
      @DirtTrampMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn that sucks, I thought the rear latch was all metal. But again, I dont really take it off often. I've heard great things about the DH though, a friend of mine just bought one!

    Had a pretty serious accident in my 3R on my eskate a few months back, it saved me from at the very least a few days of rhe hospital and possibly much worse. Now that im in the market for a new helmet again its looking like ill be gatting another 3R.

    What's your head circumference and what size you end up choosing?

  • @jessecaudillo4383
    @jessecaudillo4383 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The play in the helmets could be due to face shape, although it's crazy how drastic the difference is between the two. My Z1R modular helmet is a XL and fits my head snug, but I had to get M cheek pads to get it to fit properly.

    • @DirtTrampMTB
      @DirtTrampMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point, bigger cheekpads on the Super Air would probably help!

    • @jakecole7447
      @jakecole7447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DirtTrampMTB for anyone interested, thats the reason. by now bell provides thicker cheekpads as standard that give the helmet a way better, snug but not too warm feeling. was thinking the same about looseness when i first tried a fit.

    Hi bro! I've heard that the 3R has a slightly shorter measure or fit so an L would be equivalent to a M in the Super Air. I am normally L but I tried the Super Air on M and fits me right and snug instead of the L size which would require to tighten the strap as well as the knob, anyways, good review. Greetings

    • @DirtTrampMTB
      @DirtTrampMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I would have liked to try a M air to see if the fit was better. But regardless it makes no sense that they would do that lol

    Excellent review! By chance did you try chin mounting the gopro on the Air? Thanks

    • @DirtTrampMTB
      @DirtTrampMTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not. Didnt ever use the Air on the trail, ended up selling it. As fas as chin mounting it really depends on the go pro. It was great on my Hero 7 but chest mounting is the way to go on the 8. The increased stabilization on the 8 made the footage very stale and boring while chin mounted. Plus the chest mount gives you a better view of the bike and handlebars . It was just too shaky chest mounting the 7

    I have also 'upgraded' from Super 3R to Super Air and sadly found out that dial of float fit is difficult to reach as it is positioned too close to the helmet shell. On 3R there is option to adjust position of float fit system so there is plenty of clearance, unfortunatelly there seems to be no ajdustment on Air (or I cannot find it??). Otherwise nicely build halmet. Mine fits snug and comfy, yours looks to be too big for you head.

    • @aint4ever
      @aint4ever 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plot twist: I have just found setting to adjust position of float fit system on Super Air and now its perfect, no more finger pinching!

    Sound like you try medium size 3r and large super air. Therefore the difference in weight is little and the super air you feel loose

    • @DirtTrampMTB
      @DirtTrampMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are both the size Large. The fit was fine it was just the helmet moving away from the part that is on your head.

    2:00 probably more dangerous if anything. The fact that mips moves so easily means it cannot bleed off energy. bumping into the wall in your home probably already renders it useless. How this became popular is baffling to me

    • @jakecole7447
      @jakecole7447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its not about bleeding off energy thats the job of the main material, it will still protect your head especially due to the longer backside. the point is to avoid sudden head accelerations that damage your brain due to it hitting the sides of your skull.
