  • In this video we take a look at my Bell Super Air R helmet. A helmet I have been running for about a year now... And a video I have put off making for a while... Until I could get my thoughts on it put together...
    So... Finally... This is what I think of the thing... And by thing I mean the Bell Super Air R. There's not too much to say here... Except... I hope you enjoy the video and the format in which I present it...
    So... I hope you enjoy the show.

    Your videos are fantastic Phil, I love the way you set them up, package the content and insert the images. It was interesting to get to know your helmet. Thanks for your video and content my friend, it's always very exciting to watch your videos. Keep up the good work and have a nice weekend. Ride on buddy🤙

    Really good and fair review.
    I never take my chin guard off as now it’s seized into the helmet with sweat. I am looking at a full face helmet now . I have seen a couple of chin bars come off and cut the face on crash (not Bell) . I agree 100% with you on this lid . It certainly has a place in the mtb world though .
    Wonderfully delivered review and video 🤘
    Take care my dear friend

    • @TrailTales
      @TrailTales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Mick! I wouldn't have thought the chin bars could/would break in a crash... Shit... That's horrid! And hella unlucky for the people it happened too... Sheesh!
      I like the practicality of this lid. I have the chin bar tucked into my packs kangaroo pouch all the time. Even it I don't use it on a ride... It's always there... But one does need to be mindful of it's linitations!
      Thanx for watching mate... And have a good week! :D

      Hahaha... The "enduro bro" look is deffo something MTB can do without... And yeah... It's a nice little helmet. I've been really enjoying it. But it's not a full lid replacement.
      Thanx for the feedback Sage... Really appreciate it mate! Have a good weekend and keep safe! :D

    Nice video. I have 3 different helmets I wear on different terrains or if I'm at a bike park. My extremely expensive Fox Rampage Pro Carbon helmet is a bit heavy for the warm weather out here but is great for the bike parks with a lift. I wear the lighter Fox Proframe on Mt. Lemmon and a Giro half shell for the lower green and blue trails.

    • @TrailTales
      @TrailTales  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah... When I'm riding jank park I wear the big lid... It just "feels safer" than this one. But I do like to be able to cluip that chin bar on when the trails get steep and rocky... Knowing that chin bar is there between my teeth and a rock is a good feeling... And the climbs here are too long for any other option... Not to mention the 40 degree summer temps!

      Cheers Scout! It's deffo a lot more comfy than my big lid and I use it 90% of the time... The bid lid just comes out when I run lift access. It's a really nice helmet and I enjoy it... I just waanted to get the message across that it's not a FF... It's a half lid with a chin bar... :D

    Nice review and great edit!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 That helmet will earn some points with a fidlock instead of the old fashioned buckle system.

    • @TrailTales
      @TrailTales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah.. The double-D is not practical on a half lid, but the clip is a bit too far in the other direction... Something a bit more inthe middle (like the fidlock) would have been a better pick.
      Thanx for the feedback mate! Really appreciate it... Have a good weekend and stay warm... :D

    Full face "trail" helmets will become ubiquitous in the next 5 years, but these helmets will not replace your downhill rig for days at the park.

    • @TrailTales
      @TrailTales  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True dis... It's a good "gap stop" helmet... A bit of added protection for days out on the trail... But a real full face is still required for park... :D

    I have an halfshell but it’s slowly getting old and I’m thinking should I keep my halfshell and buy myself a real fullface or should I throw the old one away and buy something like this one in the vid

    • @TrailTales
      @TrailTales  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Always a tough call... And depends on how your trails run... Where I live we tend to climb fire roads and descend trails. So being able to store the chin bar for the long climbs up is really good. The trails we ride are generally quite tech and steep so the additional protection helps.
      If my local trails were more... Undulating. As in riding trails up and down with shorter climbs and descents, I'd go for something more like the fox pro-frame... And an actual full lid for park days.
      If that helps at all?

    Hey! I’m looking for some light full helmet for very hot wether here in Israel. Considering to buy this one, but the price here is 390$:D . What do you think? Any way, thank you for the honest review, Phil🙏

    • @TrailTales
      @TrailTales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like mine. It is very light and good ventilation... and I ride up without the chin bar all the time. Once you get the assembly down, it's quick and easy. The chin bar loved on my pack and is always there when I need it.. itnis pricey. But a good solution inthink.
