      OR maybe, JUST MAYBE it could be because for the first time in history, people are actually caring about mental health and we find out how many people are actually suffering. Also, wouldn't you be depressed if you had a talking orange for president and in 8 months the damage that has been done to the environment will be irreversible which would mean that we would all be forced to slowly cook to death with everyone we love on this planet?

    • @nuehernandez4654
      @nuehernandez4654 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Leunam Reyo That’s because most of the time, the people who said they wanted to do it eventually DID get help. Think about this logically. If they said it for real and not as a joke, they really needed help. And if they actually SAID IT that means they were willing enough to get help.

    1. Anxiety - how will my actions be received by others
    2. Feeling lonely - do things to draw connection
    3. Insecurity creeps in - comparing self to others
    4. Too attached to praise - this makes criticism crippling
    5. Feel the need to prove yourself - overdoing things or using knowledge against people
    6. Doing things for likes following and recognition
    7. Trying too hard to be unique when you already are unique - going overboard

    I was overpraised as a child, but it stopped when I turned 11. I became this way to compensate for this uncomfortable change. Now, I’m learning to accept that I never was as perfect as ppl said I was at 8, but I never was as useless as ppl said I was at 14 either. I’m in between just like most other ppl in the world and that’s a great place to be.

    I like getting a laugh out of people, mostly from my friends. That’s how I like to seek attention. I like to tell jokes, I like to act like a fool in public just to get a rise out of people. I take their laughter as praise and validation. I think I use laughter and humor to hide darker feelings about myself because I rather have people laughing either with me or at me, than listen to me talk about my depression, my anxiety, my frustration, you know, all the bad stuff. My fear is that would they even care to listen, or am I even worth listening to. I try to ignore those thoughts by replacing it with fake smiles and it can be really exhausting at points. Sometimes I don’t wanna smile. Sometimes I just want to let go of these emotions, so that at least for a brief moment, I can have some air to breathe.

    • @johnpatrick3458
      @johnpatrick3458 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      If the people that are in your life right now would not care or listen to you when speaking about your depression, anxiety and frustration, then you choose other people to be part of your life. Good friends take the good with the bad.
      However, I really think it would be a great benefit for you to talk to a therapist. You are not alone. There are millions of people who share the same struggles you're having.

      well? now that everyone knows your the positive jokester..it might be better to not show the darker side. it would upset them. do SHARE your depressive side with a trusted person,you feel safe with..or counselor. You are performing for love..its very common.

    • @daphne201239
      @daphne201239 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think female friends are more nurturing and empathetic. If you don't have friends like that to talk to, find a counselor.
      I can totally relate to the behavior you described (& i am self aware as i joke & sometimes catch myself before i joke at inappropriate times) but luckily for me i have caring girlfriends that listen to all my emotions / feelings and love me through it.

      @ankit20cse45 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody has given u complete acceptance when u were nothing/not eligible /not capable/if u fail.so u find the way of acceptance by being good at work/dressing ......
      Everything u have u r in someway capable of that.
      As this world always makes u feel first u need to makes urself capable of that then u will get that thing in ur life.so u hve got everything out of striving for that working towards that
      Then u achived it/got it/.so all these these things r about
      First improving urself changing urself and then u r getting known/acknowledged/likes/becoming wonder in others mind.so u continuing the way u have got acceptance by being high/becoming stereotype in others mind.
      What u need is to find the acceptance when u r nothing
      Nothing means when u r nothing

    • @ankit20cse45
      @ankit20cse45 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And u have to seek this acceptance somewhere from within because in the world ,where u r right now means what u r capable of doing
      How well u learned it and sustain ur capabilities.it has capabilities requirement plus it has many involuntary factors also which make things happen the way it happens .so seeking it from outside will make u fall in the cycle of making urself look better and by merging with society standards first u will create a hype in ur mind and then try it get urself associated with it.

    Hello 3 years ago person, i am a sophomore in high school and thank u for this, i have not had many friends since I’ve moved in 5th grade where i was just fun, but lets be honest the change from elementary to middle is that leap where u start getting insecure and such, Ive always been very protective of myself but it got much worse over the years, I haven’t had many friends bc im often to nervous by what they might say back to me if i talk to them, life often makes u feel like everything is crowding around u and suffocating u and the only way I could get this attention i so craved was via grades, i did very well then went to a school for smart ppl (long story) i left earlier this year bc i was getting very depressed and anxious. I had nothing, no friends, no motivation, and most of all at the time i was extremely lonely. I was never talked abt bc i was average and the more I realized that the more depressed i got, i am now in this pandemic, still suffering from these but to a lesser degree as i was able to talk to a few ppl and finally felt important to someone but i need to fix this issue. Its harming me, my family, and my future. I’ve never noticed how much i just hungered for attention before and now i think i need to find a way to make it better and figured researching it would be the best first step, so I would like to thank u for making this video as it’s definitely a wake up call, ur not a victim bc u want attention, u have to just stay urself try to swallow that guilt u have for anything and talk to new ppl, its only something i can fix and although it will be tough i want to make a hope that one day i can edit this post and say i helped myself, i am sorry for the poor souls who pressed read more but i just want to explain to myself why im being so selfish and self demotivating and promise myself i will be better and i will make others better, rather than rip them down so i can stand on top pretending I deserved it

    These are traits of insecure adolescents. Our society is dumbed down due to social media,texting and lack of developing basic social skills. Interaction with fellow people is now done on a very trivial level. Therefore a lot of individuals do not mature or develop as individuals or social creatures.

    Great advice video Christal . But sometimes seeking attention can lead to negative consequences . When I was 7 years old I tried to always get my Fathers attention. But he did not pay attention to me and ignored me. . One Day I stood up to my Father and said to him. What The Hell are you going to today. This time I did get my Fathers attention and a SPANKING. Smiles..

  • @Helenavanthof

    Every waking moment of my life is about seeking attention. I’m very aware of it but whenever I catch myself, it takes just 3 seconds to fall back into the same pattern of pretending to be so much more than I really am. I feel like an empty shell of what was once a genuine, caring and pure human being. The only way for me to feel good enough is through constant external validation. If there were no people around me to acknowledge me, would I even exist?
    I feel chronically lonely and empty because I can’t connect with myself and others on a deeper level. I hurt both myself and the people who come near me, and I disappoint myself and others when I once again can’t live up to being the person I claim to be. Life like this is fucking exhausting and I don’t see how it will change.

    Great video. There was once someone I knew since we were teens who was a constant liar for years because all he wanted was attention. He would lie to me and all our friends about how he met all these different celebrities just so we can think he's some cool guy. He was seeking validation and approval cuz he didn't wanna appear as some "regular guy".

      @Cloud 9 From that observation, it sounds like it goes hand in hand with all the focus on beauty. Girls who get so sucked into looking good that they divert time and energy away from skill building. Then comes the real world. In any case, it's fine to acknowledge that people are attention seeking and that they need to do something about it, and ghost them if you need to, but making suicide jokes is low.

    I love my husband but sometimes he can act very annoying and attention seeking! It drives me crazy, especially when my attention is elsewhere and engaged with other people and he feels out of the loop. He forces himself to take the attention away from me and when I get irritated he blames me for being upset! It's useless I have been explaining this to him for years and he doesn't get it. He always acts like a victim and I look like a bad partner for bringing it up. What do I do??

    She just described me in one video. I guess the problem is that my parents raised me in such a way that I was always praised until I experienced the real world and realized that it's not what I perceived it to be and so the addiction for attention went on. Sad to say but I still have this attention-seeking problem. I'm also very introverted and growing up in school, I was always invisible except when I perform in Talent Shows. It's really frustrating me and I want it to stop. Okay wow this comment of mine sounds attention-seeking. Self please make it stop :(((

    For all those celebrity women who I had conflict with...or maybe including Jack who wants attention from men...
    Attention-seeking is a part of 'id'. When you're already a grown as* adult and you still can't control your attention-seeking urges, then it means that you have problem controlling your id. You must feel shame or embarassment about that because you're already a grown as* adult. Shame or embarassment is not always bad, sometimes we need that.
    Teenagers usually cant control their attention-seeking urges and thats just normal, but if you're an adult, then it means that you havent reached maturity yet.

  • @kanadian9418
    @kanadian9418 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Attention seekers have void in their mind. So they constantly check other's feeling and mood by hovering around. It is so annoying. They seem mostly nice because being nice means being manipulative. What I realized is, Kindness is good but niceness is bad. Psychologically, if someone comes to you in a nice way, we feel all of sudden to get pressure subconciously to give them nice way in return. This is a start point of manipulation. They will repeatedly do the same thing to take control of your mind that you also start thinking of them. From that point, they will take your valuable time and energy for granted to exploit. Therefore, we have to learn how to protect ourselves from those toxic. I always keep in mind that I will be no longer nice to other. instead I will only be nice to myself. It doesn't mean that I would hurt anyone, just I am not pretending to be nice to the nice people. I don't give any nice or bad vibe. I become a grey rock. This mindset planted full of happiness in my mind.

    This just hurts me a lot when kids or teens older than me say that “Oh I wanna die cause I’m so depressed” this is one personal level cause my mom was depressed, she has to see the therapist once a week, she has to take 3 anti depression pills, but she sometimes forget that she had already taken them, that’s bad since if you overdose you can die. Kids these days so dumb why can’t they just seek attention by living on the streets, I mean anybody can be depressed but on a personal level my mom mostly has depression cause she has OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) she would be yelling or screaming if I touched something dirty like the lifts button and come back home touching something clean like my clothes from the washing machine without washing my hand
