Miss Debbi. I am 61, have never made cornmeal dumplings in my life. You make a mean dumpling. Your explanations and methods are crystal clear. I’m making soup for my Jamaican friend today; just thought that I should make her some cornmeal dumplings also. I cannot wait to prepare it. Hope it’s as good as your’s. Thank you sister, for your delicious recipe.🙏🏽😋🤤
Miss Debbie I have always loved dumplings. My mom was from Jamaica and my dad was from Barbados. Now my mom grew up making and eating dumplings without sugar but when she made them for my dad he always wanted her to make it with sugar. She would make boiled dumplings with sugar and fried dumplings with sugar (not festival's). So I grew up eating dumplings with sugar (I know that's horrible). Now when I make boiled or fried dumplings I add sugar too sometimes a little brown sugar or just regular, my kids won't eat without it. When I married my husband now my ex he is Jamaican and could not for the life of him could understand why I would make dumplings like that. So most times he would make it the way he liked without sugar and made some with sugar for me and my kids or when I make them for me and my girls and I just made his the way he liked it. The one thing I missed about my ex is that he was an incredible cook. In the kitchen and in the bedroom. Miss Debbie sometimes I really miss his dumplings. 😂😂😂
Thanks for the video. I am a Trinidadian and prefer cornmeal dumplings with half flour and cornmeal. I only make spinners for soup. I make them with half flour, half cornmeal with sugar and butter like you do. I will shape them this way to eat with stewed meat and peas.S
