Moma fixed corn meal dumplings in chicken (when she didn't have time to make her pastry) and in garden peas....we had flour dumpling patties put in snap beans. Love it all!
I had corn dumplings in fish soup once and it was one of the best tasting foods I had in my life . The flavor of the corn dumplings went so well with the fish soup stock . 😋
Eastern NC here. We make corn meal dumplings with no flour. I tried the flour method but they fell apart. Back to the drawing board I guess. Enjoy you guys a bunch.
I thought the flour is what keeps them from falling apart . I know of 3 different recipes for using corn meal and they all require some flour otherwise they fall apart. One method is boiled. The other is steamed and the third is fried

My mother in law made cornbread dumplings out of left over ham bone from Thanksgiving , I looked forward to after the Holidays .
