Would this be the same process for a 2020 MBP with an Intel processor?
Can this be done on a macbook pro 14" M1? I am asking because the display is disconnected and completely removed. However, I always need to press command F1 to go into the external display. I want the macbook to always be on external display because if not it makes it difficult when I need to go into options startup menu etc. Thank you!

Question Because I need some serious help. So I did all the steps, but when connected to the external display is displays nothing, the only time it displayed anything was when it low battery and did the whole lightning bolt sign. but now when connected to an external display, i mean it displays an output cuz the display backlight turns on, but theres nothing on there. Ive tried the comand R and all that. no luck. anyone know whats happening??? is the OS broken or something??
What about Acer v3-472, I damaged the lcd connector but hdmi still won't display on tv
ive got screen busted a2141 as well. the idiot me put windows to start in safe boot and forgot how safe boot will use only internal screen. which is busted. so if we disconnect the video like the one you showed it here, would it put windows safe boot in external display too?

Going thru this problem rn screens cracked can’t see anything try connecting the hdmi nothing pops up except the reset password thing on recovering assistant which only pops up if I close the MacBook screen don’t know what to do
Mine has something similar. Display is not cracked but I think it failed. The weird part is when you press power button you see the apple logo, also when i put the laptop in recovery i can see the image, everything perfect. when the laptop boots in MacOS no image is shown at the display, only an external monitor work.
These are one of those golden tips where you spend 2 hours misdiagnosing the problem to only find out there was no board issue

You don't need to be an expert. IT should work unless something else is wrong with your macbook :)
Hi, I am having a similar issue, when I connect to a monitor it shows up but annoyingly it is in secondary monitor mode and I cant do anything on the laptop. I have tried short cuts to put it into mirror mode but no joy. Do you have any advise?

Hey there, will this work for a 13’ inch MacBook Pro? screen is cracked. only thing it will let me display on 2 monitor is the reset password. once I do that and reset the computer it won’t reconnect to the 2nd monitor. the keys board lights up.. the 2 times I did it in the beginning it worked.. then it stopped working. feel it has something to do with the password. when it did display onto 2 monitor the Touch Bar had 2 options. mirror or display. but now the Touch Bar shows nothing. tried using voiceover to type password in but nothing worked. I don’t wanna pay for another screen. how would I go about this?

Your logic board is bad. I had the same issue with a customer's macbook.

Thank you for this. It worked until i put my password in and loads, then it goes blank. The laptops runs fine the external monitor goes blank. How can i get around this?

We are having the same issue. Put in password and it loads just fine then before it opens to my desktop it shows no external monitor connected. Not understanding why this would happen. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello; I own a macbook pro 16 inc 2019. macbook screen cracked. I also started using it with an external monitor. One day I needed windows and I installed win 10 with bootcam. but when it started in windows it stopped displaying the external monitor. how i did i deleted mac startup and windows startup. when i run internet recovery it is loading. As the apple logo fills, it outputs the image to the internal monitor. the computer is working. When you press the shutdown button 3 times, it gives a voice command. but it does not display the image to the external screen. I also disconnected the motherboard monitor connection. but still nothing has changed. What can I do. I've been dealing with it for weeks. I tried to download offline. The internet goes straight to the rescue. please help me...

I was doing this fix on a macbook pro (13") and the second monitor is stuck on the apple logo. I also tried to EFI boot, the menu showed up but when i tried to boot it sent me back to the apple logo, do you know why this is or amything that could help to fix it?
try a p-ram reset first, see if you can see your drive there. If not try booting to recovery mode and see if you see the SSD. I have other videos talking about this issue if you still have a problem

I have an A1708. I followed the video's instructions. When i turn on the computer it only displays the apple logo on the external, no loading bar and just stays there. Any suggestions?

That sign means it doesn't detect a charge on the battery. Keep it plugged in for a while. If nothing changes it can be a charging issue with the logic board or a battery issue
I followed this for my MacBook Pro a1708 where screen is cracked but computer works. But once I connect to external display . I see apple symbols but it stays like this. System doesn’t complete booting . What shall I do .

Thank you for this. I was an idiot and bought MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1707 (2016-2017) model and am in need of a new screen. It powers on and the backlight comes on but has the classic no image no display just fractured lights and lines etc. Luckily I am able to Mirror the Displey onto my TV with an HDMI cable and my Dock. I say idiot because of course I buy the one that costs the most to replace the screen. The other major major irritation is how the keys started going bad on this money pit. Shame on Apple for creating such an expensive heap of junk that will cost an egregious amount of money to fix. Wrapping up my want I find it 1000% ridiculous that I have a “Laptop” but in order to use it I MUST have a Keyboard, 2nd monitor used as a Primary Display, and a Mouse. I basically have porthole Desktop using a $2500 MacBook Pro as my hard drive. So pissed. My question is, at what point is it worth repairing it vs getting an iMac or the like. Who knew the screen would cost that of a brand new Low End iMac. Thank you.
