When I first watched this film I was single, no family no child. I thought that she was awful for abounding her child how could she do that?! Now when I watched, I have a family and a child, I so empathise with her and completely understand! How she has struggled with unhappiness and mental health crisis! She went away so she comes back better for her child! It gives impression that the other outcome for her would be giving up on her own life... how traumatic would that be for a child 😱😱😱
Please… a mother never leaves her child behind. Nobody asks to be born so when you decide to bring a child into this world you come second. Otherwise, don’t have children.
When i first saw this movie, I was in high school and thought she was so horrible to leave her son (at the beginning of the movie). Who could do that? Now I see how desperate she was to escape her profound unhappiness, to the point she actually states if she goes back in the apartment, she just might eventually jump out a window. How would that benefit her son? I don't have children, but I have felt that emotion where you're stuck somewhere with someone that you can't get away from fast enough (her husband). It's a desparation that didn't take into consideration her child, but I still understand it.
My generation and I think she’s a coward. Imagine when that kid is a teenager. That wimpy lady will break 🤣 Def in this rare case, the kid should def stay with the Dad
LA PRIMA VOLTA CHE HO VISTO QUESTO FILM NON AVEVO VERAMENTE CAPITO QUANTO POTESSE ESSERE DIFFICILE ESSERE MAMMA, ESSERE PAPÀ E NON ESSERE MAI PERFETTI!!
I did, too, but at the end when the mother visits him and changes her mind, he’s probably relieved. He and dad can go back to making French toast in the morning , bedtime stories, and trips to the park. And dad no longer works a job owning him, took a $5000 a year pay cut (a lot in 1979) to just work a job his assigned hours and go home.
@@jrpacer6355 .? Don’t feel like looking up this movie and trying to watch it But now I’m curious guess gotta see it to find out but if she did that’s messed up
Che film PERFETTO. Capolavoro di scrittura. L'ho sempre trovato di un impatto devastante. Altro che gli action movie. Bob Benton fu inarrivabile. ✨🏅🏅🏅💎🎥
Can we just admire Justin Henry!?!
Amazing child actor.
Yes great acting So sad how he is hugging his dad before his mum's comes😢😮
And he still proved himself great as a child actor when he was 12 as Molly Ringwald’s smartass younger brother!
Meryl Streep is the best actress I've ever seen in my life, she's just incredible.
You haven’t seen many actresses then.
My favorite film. Such exceptional performances!
that's hysterical when dustin is making that frenched toast
It's gross, like the situation

That kind of woman are awful, yesterday and tomorrow

So you don't love your family. You're just swell.

She felt plenty. Including feeling ready to return after abandoning her son and using him as leverage against his father.

@MyrnaSudeGutierrez Spot on. Can I quote you?
@@MyrnaSudeGutierrezyo nací en los 70 y para nada mis padres me criaron como dice usted. De hecho por que hay que buscar a otra persona?
WOW...this happened to me when I was in 2nd grade. Dad told me he was leaving to marry a new woman who lived in New Jersey.....such heartbreak
Terrific ❤❤❤
Meryl looks like Truman’s wife in this one
Dustin could play ▶️ Lex Luther in Superman 🦸♂️ he has the ability to adapt to Lex 😊
Why is that boy so cute …beautiful ..
But 4 years later, watch Sixteen Candles as Molly Ringwald’s kid brother. He wasn’t cute and a 12 year old that is a nightmare for many parents.
Really good together on film 🎥 D. + M.
I was a kid and l felt sorry for him .

So what happens she still at the end abandons her child. ? She will be out of his life forever ?
She sold it that's what it is for

No, they probably came to a mutual agreement that she’ll see the child when she feels like it. Such is real life.
She gave him everything back except the engagement ring.....typical
Engagement rings are worthless, despite the BS the diamond industry wants you to believe.
She was married
So she didn't have too give back the engagement ring ,a ring is given in the contract of marriage so you made a stupid point
Sometimes ladies you have to step away to feel worthy
