K9 Jets goes from NJ Teterboro to Lisbon and you fly with your pet(s). Yes expensive, but it includes your flight cost. I don’t know if you can have extra baggage though.
How do you get all your documents to the PT airport vet 48 hrs ahead of arrival if the health certificate didn’t come until just an hour before you left for the airport?
Yeah, that was the craziest part. We got the copy the day before we left and sent it as soon as we could (which was closer to 40 hours before we arrived) and it seemed to work! Thanks for watching!
Our pup is 20 lb and snub-nosed (he is a Zuchon), he can't fly on most international airlines. Its very difficult for us to use our US home as the base to travel to Europe for 3 months twice a year. We can also do the Schengen shuffle by bring him over once for all, establishing a home base in a non Schengen country, and registering a car in Europe, but most of theses non-Schengen countries (Western Balkans) are heavily polluted, especially in winter (coal as source of energy for heating). Now the only option for us is to get EU residency, your 4 country comparison video (thank you!) got us thinking, why not? Now the deal breaker will be the tax system, I am doing a lot of research on my own before we go for expertly consultation and planning, do you know when are you dropping your video on tax systems? Thanks.
Thanks for watching @Zuchon18 and our tax video is a couple of weeks out. However, each country has its own set of rules and may play differently with the U.S. IRS. When we considered moving, we set up a consultation call with an expert in Portugal/US taxes and while it cost a couple hundred euros, it helped us out a great deal. Best of luck in your considerations and planning!
Thanks for watching. I did a quick search and it looks like it’s possible to bring a bird with you - it does require a health certificate, isolation 10 days before travel, vaccinations and a 30 day quarantine upon arrival. I found this in the FAQ section : www.pearlsofportugal.com/move-to-portugal/bring-your-pet-to-portugal/#:~:text=The%20bird%20must%20either%3A,for%2030%20days%20before%20travelling
@@TheUnretirees Many Thanks! I don’t think my parrot would do well in quarantine for 30 days without me. They have the emotions and problem solving skills of a toddler! He knows how to unlock cages so only padlocks will work and to not see me for a month would hurt him as if he’s been given away. Umbrella Cockatoo
Thanks for watching and … maybe. But our U.S. vet did the chip and the rabies shot at the same appointment one right after the other and she had no clue as to why the order was important. Regardless, it’s best to do it like they want it done :)
Very helpful advice, thank you
Thanks for watching and glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video.. I appreciate the section related to transporting a pet. Thank you

We know of someone who used this service. They had a great experience…but it was too expensive for us to consider. Thanks for watching!
Only one question: How old is your pet ? (I think you said somewhere it was a rescue dog) Greetings from Coimbra
Riley is now 4.5 years old. Thanks for watching in Coimbra!
@@TheUnretirees Very, very young for a dog !!! Thanks !!!

Excellent video! Can you describe what the health check at the Lisbon airport involved?

I’m not finding very much on moving with a parrot.

I heard the EU compatible microchip goes first because they tie the rabies shot to the new micro chip…
