We realized after we filmed this that TH-cam only allows a maximum of 5 links per video. Some of the topics we mentioned in this video aren't linked but we've included links to all the videos and playlist in the description for quick reference.
Thanks for being transparent about YT income. There’s people saying “we make money on TH-cam“ but never talk about how much it is. So thank you and I appreciate your honesty and sharing.
Appreciate the transparency. It's a bit of a lull timing wise considering the content. Migrations have slowed down with the socioeconomic environment. Fear metrics on travel budgets and RE purchase also having an impact. Might have to just keep plugging away until an event sets off something in the algo that gets your channel in front of more unique viewers. I think your channel, and the way you deliver your content and info, has a stronger chance than most to build a descent library of evergreen content. I fall into that category of being 50% on the income stream content and 50% on the moving abroad. Congrats on getting this far and keeping at it.
I just stumbled across your channel and watched your video. It is amazing, I thought I was to old to start my own channel. Thank you for giving me the curious to try. I’ll be following you 😊
I found you guys a few months ago and I love how humble and real you are. The transparency is amazing and so is your easy and digestible content. I never thought I would post on youtube half a year ago either. I've since oscillated between feeling inspired and wanting to post videos that are in line with my vision... and going with what works. The algorithm has been all over the place, although I only use the free version of tube buddy at present. It's a tough one to post thumbnails and content that go viral, versus being true to yourself and what you really want to share. Can I ask what affiliate you guys are working with? Have you ever considered offering 1 hour consults with people ( as an extra form of revenue for yourself) to help guide people on their channel? Wishing you guys so much success on the journey ahead :)
Thanks for watching and for your encouragement! We suggest that if you're going to do a TH-cam channel, you should do it about things that make you happy and not do it strictly because you think it could make money. While it is true that we use TubeBuddy to help identify topics in our niche and to help us with keywords, we don't want to end up doing videos on topics we don't like just because we think the algorithm may reward us. We have a few affiliates that we work with because they make sense for what we talk about, but there's one that makes sense for anybody -- Amazon affiliate program. It's easy to sign up, it's easy to use....and if you give people a compelling reason to click on your Amazon link, it's easy to get some revenue. It's a low %, but it is still a valuable opportunity. In terms of coaching, maybe someday we'll be ready, but we're still way early in our learning process :). Thanks.
I think you've done an amazing job with your channel! Have you thought about going live on a regular basis? I think it helps boost both your watch hours as well as your number of subscribers. At any rate, you're making great progress!
I really like your videos! Maybe you can do a video about international schools in Portugal? I am trying to find something but nothing shows up. Maybe it’s time for us to move there and take your advice to heart
We don’t know a lot about schools in Portugal, but there’s an Instagram account called @lisbonfamilylife that might be helpful. She has school-age kids and I think she has some content about schools. Hope this helps!
Thanks for watching! Here is our equipment but you could start with just an iPhone or with thousands of dollars of stuff. We use a Canon EOS Ti camera that’s probably five years old. Could buy one now for a couple of hundred. We use a lighting set that cost about $150. We bought a wireless mic sec that was about $400. And that’s it. We use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing and that’s $29/ month. Hope that helps!
Very inspirational! I started my channel around the same time as you, have about the same number of videos, but am way behind in terms of polish, focus, video quality, and subscribers. I really appreciate all the tips and info about your TH-cam revenue - and your other non-YT content is great, too! Thank you 😊
Your plan moving forward sounds great. However they seem to be different niches, and you might confuse the algorithm. My two cents would be to split the content into two channels. And post once a week on each. I think you’ll have better success in the long run. That’s what all the gurus seem to say anyway. Good luck!
Just watched your video, I sure hope it all works for you. One thing that I may have missed did you get a AL permit. I thought I read where Portugal had suspended all new permits.
Thanks for watching. There are some great courses available, and we signed up for one of them. It wasn't a perfect fit so we'd rather not say... but it is perfect for a lot of people. Thanks for understanding.
Well hey I'm not over 50 yet, but I'd like to be retired on passive income by 50. We're also buying a house in Portugal as an STR and should be closing on that in December. Unsure if we'll take some sort of TH-cam angle though.
Thanks for watching. One of the (many) things we didn’t understand before buying a STR here is that the tax on revenues for non-residents is much, much higher than for residents. If you’ve already become a resident or are becoming one, then great, but if not it’s worth knowing that the tax on STR is 25% of gross revenues.
A lot of people have reached out to us and asked for more information about getting started with building flexible online income streams, so we created a resource for that.
What is the right age for moving abroad? We are making plans to move to Italy. I am 52 American born (Italian ancestry). She is Russian and 44 (US Green Card). I went to University in Bologna. We plan to move to Sicily.
Well, there isn’t a right age but there are certain restrictions for residency applications that differ country by country. For example, coming to Portugal, you need to demonstrate you have sustainable income from other countries and/or sufficient assets that you won’t need to work and take a job here. However, since you’re considering citizenship in Italy, there likely are no financial restrictions. But if you’re wanting to move abroad, then you should do it as quickly as you can manage…no one is guaranteed a long life and too many people miss out on things they “always wanted” to do but didn’t get around to. Best of luck!
Love your new chanel guys! Question-how long in average you'd say it takes per video from start to finish? I'm sure it varies but just want an average.

Really appreciate your candour guys! I’m the person who will be watching both midweek and Sunday videos!
Awesome! Thanks so much for your support!

Thanks for sharing! Any ballpark info regarding your channel's expenses, i.e. cost of camera hardware & software?

Love following along, thank you!

Excelente contente. I’m so happy you’ve shared the numbers. We are starting this journey.
Thanks for watching!!
…and best of luck to you!
Just watched your video, I sure hope it all works for you. One thing that I may have missed did you get a AL permit. I thought I read where Portugal had suspended all new permits.
Thanks for watching. We did get an AL permit; I believe they made changes to obtaining new permits shortly after we got ours.
Great video! What course did you take?

@@TheUnretirees Yeah, I won't be a resident at this time but taxes is something that we had a brief overview of. :)
What digital product are you selling? How did you source and decide upon the one you wanted to sell?
A lot of people have reached out to us and asked for more information about getting started with building flexible online income streams, so we created a resource for that.
@ so you are offering a subscription to a course? Can you provide links to the product?
Can you explain more about earning money with a digital product? I would be interested in a video about that topic.
Great! That will be a topic for an upcoming midweek video!

Good video but scant on details about the digital product so important to your bottom line.
Thanks for watching. In a short video it isn’t possible to get into every detail for each video or each revenue stream.
