Awesome tips. I've travelled form US to the UK several times and got amazing pet relocation service with JCS Livestock. Their staff is really trained to handle pets during travel.

Wow I keep going through all your vlogs on moving to Portugal and it’s really helping. I’ve been a little overwhelmed trying to figure all of this out on my own. My daughter graduates high school this year and is off to college and I plan on selling my house and all but a couple suitcases and my little dog and myself taking off. Thailand and Portugal has been the two countries I was trying to pick from and Covid has made it even harder. I don’t see us going to Thailand because it’s way to long of a flight for my dog. I love Portugal and the people and it’s easy to travel around Europe from there.

@@ExpatsEverywhere Thailand has been my dream and my brother and uncle live there with their families. Your dog is so small and acts perfect it seems on flights. I have a Boston Terrier and she’s under 20 lbs but she’s so needy and would hate sitting in that case for so many hours. Then them having to use the bathroom. I’ve read a lot about not feeding them much or to much water before the flight but I just have no idea how she would be. That’s when I really started researching Portugal.

    • @ExpatsEverywhere

@@oreospeedwaggindoesamerica6078 Wow, you're coming to Portugal instead of your dream move to Thailand because of your dog! Must be a special dog. ☺️ Ours hasn't gotten any better or worse when flying. He generally gets a little nervous in the airport but finds a lot of comfort in his case. His case has always been his chill spot and safety place, you know? You should be able to sit with the case on your lap during the flight and that might chill your dog out a bit, you know? To be able to smell you and feel you near. If you can do 9 hours, you can probably do 16 or whatever the long Pacific flight is. We would not characterize our dog as having good behavior 😁 - Josh & Kalie

      Thank you!
Not in video form, we can tell you security with Pincho is very easy. A bigger dog it might be a little more difficult, but maybe not. With Pincho, he's so small and most of the time there's a least one person in security that's fawning over him. One of us takes him out of his case, his case goes through the x-ray on the belt, and we have to carry him through the metal detectors and then whoever holds him must get their hands swabbed. For layovers, we find the dog walking areas after scouting it out online before the flight. We walk him there/let him go pee. Food and water, we do during layovers but also offer it to him when Kalie takes him to the "toilet" on the plane. She'll also put down a pee pad on the floor of the plane toilet to see if he'll go there, but usually he doesn't and he's too amped up. 99% of time, he does his business on a layover and then as soon as we land in our final destination, we try to get him outside or to the next airport doggie area to relieve himself. Does that help? - Josh & Kalie

Really helpful, thank you! This is the part of moving that stresses me out the most, bringing our 16 y.o. cat and 65 lb dog. Not so worried about the cat, used to long car rides in his crate, but putting the dog in the cabin below freaks me out. Traveling from CA to EU, I think I would do it in two legs, stopping over on the East coast for a few days first.

    • @ExpatsEverywhere
      @ExpatsEverywhere  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Are you on the west coast of Canada like Vancouver? We're not sure what the solution would be, however, with a long (several) day layover, you're adding another level of complexity in logistics because you'll need to go through the pet importation twice once in the US (unless you stay in Canada on the east coast like Toronto)and then again in Europe.

Hello! I loved the video but I'm moving my dog to Vietnam instead of a European country from the US. I am in need of help. I will be leaving the US with my small dog in the main cabin to Vietnam (SGN) on the first week of November and will be arriving on November 3rd before 3pm. I have tried contacting the quarantine station regarding some questions for weeks and it's been a fail. I would be so grateful if you can help me answer a few questions:
1.) Does my dog need a passport? She will have her rabies vaccinated certificate, health certificate, inoculation record, etc. I'm not familiar with the US having pet passports. Or is the passport the same thing as a international health certificate? Some sites says that I do and others don't.
2.) Does the rabies certificate have to be endorsed? can the USDA health certificate and rabies be endorsed (stamped) via electronic (will be printed once endorsed) or does it have to be mailed to a USDA office? If mailed, how is that 'To' and 'From' addresses labeled and how long will it take? Can it be expedited?
3.) My dog's last appointment for her health certificate is on the 27th. Will the certificate be valid when we arrive?
4.) Where do I email and/or fax over all the documents? I've been trying to contact the quarantine station in Vietnam (SGN) for answers but no reply.
5.) I have been reading everywhere and know someone that recently moved to vietnam with her dog (flew in cabin) and she didn't need an import permit/license for vietnam. It is stated that if taking more than 2, then an import permit/license is needed. Is it true that I don't need it since I'm taking 1 small dog on the plane with me (she's not going unaccompanied, no cargo)? I'm confused because 2 had said that you do and 1 of them said at SGN airport. The rest and the lady that moved said she didn't need any permit.
I've sent an email to this TH-cam page (info@...) but it seems that it will take long to get a reply. So, I'm trying here.

Hello, I'm from Thailand and my cat is a local Thai cat, I'm planning to bring her to Poland later next year. She started her vaccines March this year. My question is about the vaccination particularly the Rabies. She doesn't have a microchip, so those rabies vaccines she got are not counted right?
Is it microchip first then vaccines?

I would prefer to go to a vet who has already experience in this process. Thx in advance.

Lol capitalism is what lead my Arizona apartment going from 1400 a month to 2000 a month in 1 year. Capitalism is why I haven't been to a doctor in 10 years due to astronomical price gouging. My dad had a heart surgery, and his jobs insurance refused to pay the bill. 675,000 USD. They sued, and won, but still had to pay a substantial amount in deductibles to reach an out of pocket max. Capitalism is what lead the incarceration system to become the most profitable, exploitative industries in America, with 1 single private company owning 80% of all prisons(also requiring a minimum occupancy rate, leading to innocent people being incarcerated) Capitalism has made it possible for free trade and investment opportunities to run free within our politicians, leading to insider trading, and unjust laws being passed to benefit said political shareholders. Whilst I'm still a capitalist, and I do love Capitalism, democratic socialism is better within these modern times. The Capitalism you talk about doesn't exist. When there are few to no rules, people cheat and scam to get ahead. And I'm sorry, but my morality is better than to play the game. As it stands right now, it is cheaper by 30% to live in Dublin Ireland. I'd be paying more in taxes, but said taxes give me cheap Healthcare. I'm already paying 20%, what's an extra 10-15%, if my rent here for a 2 bedroom apartment can get me a 4 bedroom house overseas?

And not to mention the people. America has been dividing and dividing rapidly over the last few decades. We've fought in wars that didn't need to happen, we constantly are at eachothers' throats based on our opinions. To other countries, our pledge of allegiance is strangley fascist. If you think about it, it is. Patriotism is just nationalism in disguise, yet we are taught our whole lives to think it's normal. It's weird lol.
