The thing is the higher your rank in the combine goes, the more memories they erase. The combine grunts and Normal Metro police have not yet been brainwashed. The Elites are the highest combine meaning all their memories were erased and thats why they fight so hard.
I want to see more storyline of the CP's and the Combine after the events of Half Life Alyx and how they become more strict towards the citizens like you see in HL2, after the Gman gets let out of the vault. At the beginning of Half Life Alyx, Civil Protection seem to be a lot more relaxed allowing citizens to ride bicycles, the blue uniforms are optional to wear. You are allowed pets and you could socialise with other people.
It seems they got stricter after the loss of the vault, the completion of the citadel allowing them more ease on resources through import. And a standardization of combine forces if hl2 combine soldiers are to take any form of higher canonicity over hlA soldiers. It seems the combine wanted to finally leave their transhumanist prototyping stage, get the local teleportation technology and ship all combine forces to the next occupation zone. Thus everyone was being pressured hard to join the CP aswell as then enlist in the Transhuman Armed Forces.
most likely became stricter as times went on in amore gradual fashion once rebellions began to creep up on the radar, plus the more gradual change is a smart move as it allows more time to adapt to small changes so theres much less resistance to them
I'm guessing it's punishment for rebellion. The more rebels cause chaos, the more privileges get taken away for everyone else. That is a pretty smart strategy to be honest - it makes more rebels surrender so civilian life will be less difficult.
I think it simply because combine or breen are simply that smart and they took freedom away gradually so people wont notice. its likely from the latter since the combine themselves would NOT care whether human like their control or not, Breen would likely persuade the combine to be nicer in earlier days so Eli keep working on the local teleport and also simply as mercy for his own species (remember Breen didnt want combine extinguish human and only took the role to save mankind)

heart-breaking as many comments suggest, this story clearly showed the POINT where the main character (AND all other humans depicted here) broke away from his humanity, aka had his heart broken. Implies the whole question of collective responsibility: once too many yielded to the Combine (aka, corrupted), there's no other choice but 1) joining the Combine, or 2) fighting the Combine. Silent obedience or running away is a mere delay, but the choice is still imminent. Any sympathy for the guy AND his wife should end once he made his first baton hit to "provide" for his family. He made HIS choice. HE put himself and his wife above other men and their wives. And didn't she know what was exactly the difference in his "status" as an earner of one loaf of bread and an earner of a full package of produce? Oh, she DID. So, where's the moral "duality" here? You either fight the evil or run from it. As soon as you decided to just "accept it" - you're in for the death and destruction. First, the ones that you are complacent with, then complicit to. Now I hope the combines understood the lesson because they were not snugly destroyed by a citizen but the fact that the collector remembered the girl and taught revenge for her how I want people not to die at the hands of combines ...
The combine always understood the lesson though, all of their units receive family protection n stuff n haves their family with them/constantly united What i assume happened here is that she was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Superb cinematography , albeit the plot being a "little cliché", but I suppose you don't have much leeway or room for them in that setting. As "Onersers 22" suggested tho, someone joining CP without turning rogue (and exploring such hardships) would be a cool next idea! Thank you for your work and bringing us this!
*ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC!!!* Not only are the animations great but the story is very believable and it's very interesting to see the life in City 17 from the "enemy"'s perspective. The end just made me cry like a baby, considering this is a day-to-day in City 17 like the CP defending his loved one, being killed by yet another CP that was also working for someone he loves. Kuddos 👏👏👏👏
I think after the combineification procedure, probably their brain most likely works like a bionic computer. Their memories not only been erased but probably their brain redesigned as a bionic ai computer only capable of accomplishing certain tasks.
If I recall, the soldiers in Alyx are implied to be less brainwashed than the ones in HL2...guess this would be a good justification for why they're prequel-only units (though the lack of an Overwatch equivalent to the heavy soldiers and LMG units still ends up being an oddity in retrospect).
I really like this, i hope i can see more Half-life Cinematic [SFM] and i like how you put the sound of the Hard Light Bridge footsteps on portal 2, sorry if my English is wrong ( Sub+ )
That Wallhammer unit out of our focused character had the most intimidating footsteps and glowing mask lenses I've witnessed, compared to the actual enemy in "Half Life: Alyx".
Bro you made Wallhammer so badass, the glowing blue eyes blue "god" sound in backround. Also its probably one of most of not favorite Half-Life SFM. I got one issue, i doubt OTA member (combine soliders, such as Wallhammer, Echo, Supressor etc) would have human emotions and memories, they are heavily modified to be robotic killing machines. Besides that, amazing job. Omg you are the guy who makes skibidi series now, whoa haha. Also i got chills from this super combine solider at the end.
All that needs to be said is that the Animation needs a bit more refinement and work, but as a product overall, if we overlook that aspect of it, it tells a nice story and is enjoyable. Well done, hope to see more in the future.
I like the animation and story, though the rank after CP would've been grunt, a charger would be further down the line and with a whole lot more memory replacement and mechanized organs.
first sfm where the combine doesn't immediately turn on the others after a single 'questionable event'; even takes part in some. Albeit reluctantly the first time and out of reflex in the instance where the other CPs are being beaten up. Even behaves as a proper combine once augmented. The whole turncoat scene feels more like a psychotic break too. A lot of the deaths shown could be seen as over the top and unnecessary if he was just having second thoughts. Like when he blasts the shit out of the guy who killed her well past his expiry or literally strangles a grunt to death. Man simply hit his limit and went postal.

@@Kyo-kf6jf you have pointed it out yourself - it's the ability to recognise first signs of a tyranny that matters
The first time seeing a Combine defector
Nice animation
Now I hope the combines understood the lesson because they were not snugly destroyed by a citizen but the fact that the collector remembered the girl and taught revenge for her how I want people not to die at the hands of combines ...
no they wont understand it
They can spare casualties
Yes I sure they can spare but combine grunt didnt spare girl (citizen) Though she raised her hands forever
have you ever played half life
I played in hl2 + ep1, 2 in hla not played I lost my VR glasses + I lost my acc on steam
The combine always understood the lesson though, all of their units receive family protection n stuff n haves their family with them/constantly united
What i assume happened here is that she was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time.
the level of epicness of this video is simply off the scale.
There are 2 kinds of ways to humanize civil protection
1. A deep and amazing video
2. Accursed farms
Level -1 - Rebel
Level 0 - Refugee
Level 1 - Citizen
Level 5 - Metrocop Recruit
Level 10 - 01 metrocop
Level 15 - Stalker
Level 30 - Things carrier ( I dont remember how this thing called but its carries like, Striders, gunships, And cells with combines)
Level 40 - Hax
Level 55 - cremator
Level 60 - Combine soldier
Level 75 - Strider
Level 80 - GUNSHIP
Level 85 - Elite combine
Level 90 - Consul
Level 99 - Earth administrator
Level 100 - Advisor
Level ∞ - G- Man
Level Ω (Aka omega) - Gordon Freeman
This is how levels in HL2 works, is i missed smth ask me to add it
Would be cool if Valve made another HL game where you play as a metrocop that goes rogue and ends up siding with the rebels.
That would be sick
no just normal metrocop
Superb cinematography , albeit the plot being a "little cliché", but I suppose you don't have much leeway or room for them in that setting. As "Onersers 22" suggested tho, someone joining CP without turning rogue (and exploring such hardships) would be a cool next idea!
Thank you for your work and bringing us this!
Thank you very much for the inspiring words!
2 years ago - Thaller Studios
Today - Virlance
I miss this kind of virlance videos. But it's just skibidi wars now.
Kuddos 👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed my story 😊
14:50 : after you defeat all of the combine, you must defeat .. *comb'ine u'ultim'a*
They named him....
THE COMBINE SLAYER
I really like this, i hope i can see more Half-life Cinematic [SFM] and i like how you put the sound of the Hard Light Bridge footsteps on portal 2, sorry if my English is wrong ( Sub+ )
Thank you very much, and awesome that you notice those sounds 😄
I don’t know why but I always imagined the suppressor soldier was going to sound like crosshairs from the bad batch show
I think this is the first ever time I almost cried at a youtube video, well done! A great example of Show don't Tell
This breaks the lore in so many ways, however, the animation was nice and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it!
Seeing this brings me memories, and makes me think of how awful life is for everything and everyone.
Thank you Thailer for usch a wonderful sfm
That Wallhammer unit out of our focused character had the most intimidating footsteps and glowing mask lenses I've witnessed, compared to the actual enemy in "Half Life: Alyx".
oh my god i have chronic depression now this is 1142342563256/10
Even back than, you were still an amazing animator. Nice!
Just to sad I almost cried just too heartwarming but sad that the man died R.I.P Citizen
Imagine being a citizen outside the apartment raid and you just see a supressor fly out the window
Gracias TH-cam por recomendarme esta joyita
Si la verdad está muy buena, pero el final es triste pero por lo menos se volvieron a encontrar ;)
The little scanner robot is adorable
Hi me from two months ago xd
Hi me from 3 months ago xD
That was an amazing cinematic production. Really great work!
11:05 be like IMA DROP ON THESE SHITHEADS LIKE A FUCKING PIANO
:') al final quiso morir al lado de su esposa que buen gesto, aparte hiciste un gran trabajo tanto la animación como la historia
Concuerdo contigo
Bro you made Wallhammer so badass, the glowing blue eyes blue "god" sound in backround. Also its probably one of most of not favorite Half-Life SFM. I got one issue, i doubt OTA member (combine soliders, such as Wallhammer, Echo, Supressor etc) would have human emotions and memories, they are heavily modified to be robotic killing machines. Besides that, amazing job.
Omg you are the guy who makes skibidi series now, whoa haha. Also i got chills from this super combine solider at the end.
The 23 who disliked are charged with capital malcompliance.
If I was in this unverse I would be only metrocop feeding my family and wife.
That The Problem You Cant Stop Yourself from Being Promoted If you were to stop ur promotion god.. I dont want to know the Consequences
This reminds of sfm a kiss goodbye
More food and water.
What did it cost?
My humanity.
Incredible, this makes me want to learn SFM! Great video!

Wall hammer: You just got knocked THE FUDGE OUT
All that needs to be said is that the Animation needs a bit more refinement and work, but as a product overall, if we overlook that aspect of it, it tells a nice story and is enjoyable.
Well done, hope to see more in the future.
The expression of rage was beautifully done even without seeing his face. You can see their still human just emotionally num.
I like the animation and story, though the rank after CP would've been grunt, a charger would be further down the line and with a whole lot more memory replacement and mechanized organs.
That HAMMERDOWN went on a killing spree.
esto es una joya no puedo creer que tenga tan pocos view
This is absolutely fantastic, so much progress in your productions in such little time
You must make a movie nooo you have to make a movie and I Will even pay for a movie damm thats good
i like how he was first Combine Juggernaut/ enemy Juggernaut Lesson never shoot a Juggernaut's wife
самое лучшее что я смотрел в плане сюжета
и худшее в плане Лора вселенной
@@kkvrw В Alyx разрабы так испоганили лор, что этому видео до них далеко.
first sfm where the combine doesn't immediately turn on the others after a single 'questionable event'; even takes part in some.
HIGH FIDALITY 4k BREAD
I understood that refference.
Every second of this video your animation literally gets better and better
10:52 OTA units are brainwashed so the wall hammer wouldn’t have done that
Cry about it
Bruh did you not read the description it literally says its not canon
its a fan fic bruh
I’m just making a correction for the future
@@Aspect12 nice argument
my man went rogue and started blasting
He one handed that melon, grip strength level 100 2:53
That charger looks Hella badass
3:13 scanner: 🤨
cant hate a man that's looking out for his family.
His wife looks kinda creepy though-
THE ANİMATİON QALİTY İS BEYOOOOOND THE PERFECT. I LOVE İT.
