Go Kart Mysteriously Appears at our Shop... Can We Make it Run and Ride?

- A yard kart showed up one morning at Ike's warehouse with a Honda 5HP overhead cam engine and a few other parts. We think this go kart came from one of our subscribers, Mark. In today's episode, we get the Honda engine running, clean out the carburetor, install it on the yard kart, build an exhaust, mount a seat, mount a fuel tank, and go for a ride! I had forgotten how much fun a basic yard go kart can be, even if they are rough on the spine. Thanks for the donation Mark! We'll be upgrading this go kart soon in the future.
Thanks for Watching!

This was a fun one, but it desperately needs a live axle! I want to see if we can make this little Honda 5 horse one of the top laps on our leaderboard!
I love the vids
Those 5hp hondas are considered their throw away engines they are reliable until the belt goes bad
I wish I could eford something like that
Could you guys do another predator 212 video?
A live axle is make that little thing a beast
"It'll jump. It'll do the grand prix. It'll dump ya off in the first corner if you're not careful!"
This is the best description of a yard cart ever!
Y'all need a "bloopers cars and cameras episode"
YESSSSSsssss.!
i 2nd this here comment.!
The Tatted Fat Guy uh yeah
3rd this comment lol
100% agree!
I 4th it an 5th it
Wish karts would just randomly show up at my place!
Dont we all
Right
Never got a go kart, but my friends have left bikes, skateboards, grills, lawn chairs, etc for me at my porch. I'm beginning to wonder if they think I'm some kind of god or something, what with all the offerings and all. Lol
I got a random yard full of empty beer cans show up in my yard. But I’m sure it was from my ex tenant who was always “too drunk” to pay his rent for three months he kept living there after I evicted him. Told everyone how horrible I was after he lived in my house rent free for months, and cost me 3k in damages I never even hinted at asking him for. Came out of my own pocket. He stole my tools, my shop was attached and he got wasted and decided he was qualified to work on my customers quads and cost me another 5k in damaged engines. Never let a “friend” live anywhere you own or anywhere near your business.
Are welcome
Wow! I had this exact model of cart back in the early 80s. 3 horse Briggs, jackshaft , 1 wheel peel. The whole lot. Learned tons from it. So many great memories and one bad one. Broke my tailbone jumping it. Couldn't sit straight for 6 weeks. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and keep up the great work. Isaac, don't feel bad. It went dirty side up on me a few times too.
I love how Ike just dies laughing when he flips the thing.
He does everytime😆
🤣🤣
If nobody gets hurt, why not have a good laugh?
@@areyousureyouenteredyourna85 me to
Looks like you guys discovered why someone got rid of it REAL quick 🤣🤣
Needs a counter weight lol
I love it when Isaac doesn't wanna so something he just looks in silence.
"It'll dump you off on the first corner if you're not careful"... It's just great banter, it really is.
I threw a yard cart together for my kids, 1 wheel peel with the GC190 and it would carry my 200 pound butt up to about 35 mph. Too fast for 8 year olds so I picked up a Carter off road cart in need of repairs and stuck the 190 on it.
After watching a lot of y’all’s videos I decided to live axle the death trap and put a predator 420 on it for me lol.
Thanks for the videos guys!
Nice Go kart Even has a seat warmer That's Fancy
I kinda like the exhaust of the Honda engine pointing right at the back of the driver's seat. Budget heated seat ready for winter? Nice.
Belt driven clutches are real common on older yard equipment. Most of the older home built carts I've seen have them because people used what they had on hand.
thank you for taking the VALVE COVER OFF ! I really wanted to see more engine content on this interesting honda engine
Isaac finally flipped a cart instead of blowing up one
No he didn't, a Flip is end over end,he almost rolled it, but all he did is lay it over. no big deal, they just have way too much air in the tires
@@WOMANIZERJERRY laying over something is something you say when you drop a bike, not flip a cart
V-twin drag mower, flipped it way worse
@@Billo-07 yeah, forgot that one
Those Hondas are the best. For something you're not going to mod too hard, they are excellent.
Watching Ike play w/ motors is like watching a kid play w/ a new toy.... 🤣🤣🤣
Today on Cars And Cameras, Ike gets eaten by a yard kart ,John insides turn to moosh and I’m am certain there is a Samsquanch on the track ,great episode looked like good old fashioned fun 👍👍
It really gives me Cyber Truck vibes 2:18 , might be a good candidate for a really powerful electric motor down the line...
Yes
Ya
That was the first thing I thought as well.
Ewww disgusting
Ike, buddy, please don't hurt yourself. We like you just the way you are, and want to see you continue to make videos with John for many more years to come.
I do love these cheap yard find go cart videos you occasionally do.
I like that kart! I would love to see you make a kart that has a honda replica pitbike engine. My experience is that these engines are very strong! Did many build series on these engines they are also very simple!
They have done that before
No I don't think so! Not a pitbike engine with the carb on top and exhaust on bottom
Yeah the vertical engine one! Bout forgot about that one it was a zeungshen?
Ide really like for them to do a Daytona anima on one! Powerful and light! Maybe the lay down kart? And steering not so touchy!
Excellent old school cars and cameras episode
Id move the engine to the opposite side from the seat enabling the seat to be mounted further back.
"Checkers or wreckers ! 2ND is last ! Go strait turn left just go fast !" We used to yell that when I raced in the NASCAR dirt track series . LOL I never won but I got top ten ( pay check ) most of the time . LOL Great video guys and that little cart will be great .
Iv never seen someone have so much fun flipping off a go-cart lmao im glad it was a slow rollover and you didn't get hurt
That was Awesome Issac got dumped pretty quick
I would love to see a full restoration on this cart, like new paint, little suspension, live axle all that stuff. Looks like a very fun project, good job guys✌
Watching this while rebuilding an identical carb for a mower. They have a ludicrously small idle jet built in to the body that blocks all the time. Pain in the arse.
Ike you need to lean into every slide just like a SnowMobile. Advice from an Eastern Man 🤟🏻🤟🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I had a friend that had a Rupp minibike back in the very early 70s and I believe it had a belt centrifugal clutch on it like the one you showed. Maybe a Rupp Ranger? We were playing around with so many different "hand-me-down" minibikes and go-karts in the 60s and 70s but that Rupp sticks out for me as it was the first I had seen with a jack-shaft.
_"It's rough, but I like it!"_
That's what she said! 😛
What a neat present.Merry Christmas Everyone.I hope you have a Much happier New Year!
Lol @ "It'll dump you off at the first corner"
I love it when you guys find an engine or go-kart part that you've never seen before. The joy and excitement is palpable.
The owner is coming back for it once you guys fix it 🤣
I might... lol...
@@madboostmark lmao
Sometimes, free, can be more fun than it should be. Glad to see you guys having a good time.
I spy a Gilson mini bike in the background! Hope to see a vid on that one.
We took the same honda series of engines apart in a college class I took last year. That camshaft is made of bakelite with a glass fibre filler. VERY smart from a manufacturing perspective.
Another neat thing about those engines is they have no cylinder head, it's all one piece
Me and all my little buddy's had yard carts back in the 70s....they were a blast
I love your guys Channel, it got me into go karts
My first kart was a one wheel wonder with 5hp of Briggs and Straton furry with standard clutch and no CVT. Top speed was 23mph and was a heavy beast because it was a 2-seater. Sure was a fun couple of summers till it blew up twice and replaced with an ATV. The manufacturer was called Thunder Kart.
"oh my God looka the size of that thing"!!!
that's what she said...
that cam looks like the same one from the gcv-190 Honda engine, and i wasn't surprised when i saw the one lobe, 2 years ago, in my small engines class we completely disassembled a gcv-190 and it had that same set up, also the valve cover keeps the cam pin in place and stops it from backing out. pretty neat engines they are.
Could you imagine an 8in thick feeler gauge lol
Yall should made a video of all the fails and bloopers that you edited out of all the other videos. Because it would he a awsome video an funny. Plus we all know that everything is never perfect and everyone has those moments where we fail but it's funny as hell.
Fun fact people who are first just don’t comment.
That's because we are busy watching the video

Dingo vs this kart head to head. 😎
Watched that with a big grin, I love those little backyard beast.
id like to see up against the dingo. Still to this day my original dingo with 8hp briggs was my favorite gokart
Cool little gokart
I wanna see the new carb and get rid of that restriction plate.. And see what she will do...
YESSSSS.
Put that 440 snowmobile engine on that one wheel peel yard cart just for the funny factor LOL.
At least, a certain unnamed, person, did not hit a tree..
Who else thinks carsandcameras is the best channel on youtube
Those honda engines are ment to me thrown out when anything breaks that's why the valve cover is siliconed on and also why the head and block is all cast into one piece.
Those Honda motors will outlive any of the flat heads. I've had everything and those Honda's always run the best. If you step up to a commercial GX with an iron cylinder liner they will run for thousands of hours.
For a residential power washer running an axial pump, a Honda GC160 will survive three or four pumps easily.
They make them like that cause they last.. Like.. Forever
@@otm646 old briggs flatheads for the win. I have a 1949 briggs 10hp vertical that I have had for 64 years. Doesn't even smoke. Best engine ever!! American made
I got inspired by you guys and bought a 125cc fake Honda dax! Love it!
Becoming a routine to see a crash every episode
Big man like Ike, sitting WAY over to the side, one wheel peel, and wrong direction... this combo = pre-programmed rollover.
And ya know what, this is why we all started watching this channel. Nice blast from the past. hah... Ike dind't mind wearing a helmet rest of the day, couldn't get him off the cart.
Put the seat in the middle and move the break pedal over... posi rear axle, and problem solved.
It ain't no mad max full sprung home-built, but someone is gonna have fun with that puppy.
Yoooooo I gotta a Corvette tgatsjust sitting in my shop hmu and yall can have it dont need it no more
If they dont take it I will where you at?
Your not in nc are you?

Yall are the best go cart channel
Thanks
I was just thinking that you guys need to add some humor to your show while listing to the opening and BOOM.... Legs flying in the air....go cart bully and hog first ride every time got thrown on his butt. Ahhh ha ha .... Thanks for the good laugh guys
Lol. Thanks for watching
I had 2 of those Honda motors. I put one on a mega moto mini bike frame and still have the other. Going to put it on my rat rod wagon I'm building.
Wow what a intro guys awesome
That thing is killer! I love to see a live axle in it!
Love riding Go karts since I was 11, I first road my own Custom homemade Go kart that legitimately runs Perfect during the summer.
RIGHT OUTTA THE GATE --- loved it
I love this cart! I wanna see a new carb and a live axel. Tires and rims, then paint. A mini build series. Then raffle for a charity.
id love to see another video with this kart and maybe you guys could do what you were saying and make both of the rear tires able to drive (not really good with car language) i feel like this build has alot of potential and im sure you can do great things with this kart
Yard carts like this are under-rated. I have a small farm and there is nothing more fun than ripping through a freshly cut hayfield on one of these.
Right out da gate lmao Ike inspires us all...you know you wanna be like Ike!🚘📸🛸
That looked like fun
Here in rainy England, I usually watch you guys if the weather is no good to ride my motorcycle.
Keep them coming, this is great entertainment.
lol that wasnt belt burning that was smoke from that one tire fire LOL
That was cool....pillow might help LOL
best vid ever......Classic Ike.....U guys are the koolest , never fail to gimme a laff too , Happy Holidays

Just proves what I've always believed---guys can grow older but they should never grow up! Great fun you fellers, really enjoyed that one. Best wishes for Christmas---thanks for sharing.
This makes me definitely not miss the single wheel drive kart I had years and years ago, but that Honda engine actually has a pretty cool sound to it especially with that pipe on there! Looking forward to seeing where you take this little machine!
Tiny turbo! If they make one.
“Wham bam thank you ....Mister”! I’m dying right now .
Love this episode!!!
After watching this video a second time, I have a build suggestion for you. I think it would be cool to build a monster kart tow kart. Think about it. A large say two person go kart, with a heavier duty suspension duelly set up. Of course that means a large engine say from another bike. Engineering the tow process would be fun. Think about a panel on the side for product placement and take it to mini mayhem. Use it around the shop for break downs. I think it would be worth its weight in gold for you guys. Charles would live it. I sport my hat all the time. Y’all are great keep it up.
This is great I like their old videos of just fixing stuff up with what they had then going and having fun
It's actually pretty nuts with that motor. Throw a big carb and port and polish it. I know you guys have to flex go power sports with the Tillotsen tho.
Awesome lil build!!!!
I actually had a centrifugal clutch that was belt driven...it ran to a jackshaft that spun a sprocket to the rear wheel sprocket.. the clutch was no good when I got the gokart, but I found a brand new belt driven clutch..they still sale them actually..love your guys channel by the way... hate I missed the minibike show/drag in Roxboro..would had been cool to meet yall...
Those engines are so cool and reliable, in my high school shop class we ran one without oil for 48 hours straight and it was just fine, with no wear on anything.
I love the vid brothers I wanna see more of my favorite booger green nova
Merry Christmas boys! Thanks for the vids and the welcome distraction they provide.
Dang it bobby that thing is pretty fast
Spills and thrills for the win
I got a used pressure washer for $20 with that same Honda engine, well similar, its red and doesnt say premium residential. Pump was cracked but still worked. Solid engine!
I recently worked on the vertical shaft version of this engine. Here's some interesting notes. There are no gaskets for the valve cover or crankcase. These are sealed with high temperature silicone sealer. The valve cover is intentionally thin and should be replaced when it is removed since it's almost impossible to remove with out bending it. The cylinder head is cast as part of the cylinder and is not removable. This make servicing the valves a challenge. The cylinder bore is aluminum with no steel insert. These engines are designed for residential use and not as heavy duty as the Honda GX series. The GC is an interesting design and makes good torque. Certainly swap the carb for a Mikuni for better performance.
Describe John and Issac in four words! CHILDREN WITH POWER TOOLS!!
Brilliant video guys👍👍
Lol! One wheel peel! This is the same exact motor on a 4K generator I once owned. Great idea with the stuck bolt.
We had one of these in green with the old handbrake setup with the pads that rub the tires. Had it for my nephew but sold it off for a small 150cc 4wheel for him.
Not even 10 seconds in and Ike’s down. 🤣 I love this channel so much.
