      I think this list isn't complete without including the EC 228R and the EC 236R. Of these my fav is the built 225R, but you can get the EC 228R for under $900 and be able to spool 9000 rpm.

  • @jozimoto
    @jozimoto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I was definitely entertained. That Dingo chassis was overpowered by those modified engines in my opinion. The "stock" engines would probably have done better with the torque converter that matched those engines like Ike mentioned. I think you could have got the points across with a simple drag race but it would not have been as fun. I think if had a chassis with suspension those modified lap times would drop by a surprising amount. Excellent video!!!!

    • @kasuraga

    This was a blast to watch, well done guys. I think just for fun, you should take the 3 stock engines, Predator and Tillotson 212's and the Predator 224 and run them bone stock except for governor removed. With the varying RPM ranges it's still hard to see which one really performed better. Plus it would be good to find out how fast the cheapest version of each engine would be.

  • @emersonb5764
    @emersonb5764 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Love this. I’ll watch it all. But… I very much think you guys should do a project to build a DIY dyno for mini bikes and karts. You’d probably need some sort of computer genius to help, but if you can get some trustworthy repeatable rear wheel torque and horsepower numbers, 0-40 times, etc, that would be great for comparing power plants and tuning. Then all these claims of “should be 25+hp” or “estimated 20HP from these mods”… etc could be actually proven and perfected.
    Even just an engine dyno on the bench would be cool, to test and tune mods, and easier to build with a Mount plate, height adjustment and interchangeable shaft adapters. But engine specs don’t translate directly to rear wheel performance.
    Even better… do both! The software would be the hard part, and the same software could probably be used on both.
    Don’t do away with the actual driving tests, that’s the funnest part. Just use a dyno to enhance the fun driving.

    • @tomstech4390
      @tomstech4390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plenty of people have made thier own dyno's so these guys definitely have the skills and tools, It's just the will and its far to easy to use the excuse "we just want to have fun" to cover up for false claims.
      "I could do a 8min lap of nurburgring if I wanted to in my P1" is very differen't to doing it.

    I have a suggestion as a part 2 to this video.
    Since GPS has an engine dyno, ship or take ALL the engines you ran for this shoot out, JUST AS YOU RAN THEM, to GPS and have them dyno all of them to get actual HP numbers and see actual rev limits. Use same gas you used for the shoot out on the dyno. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING.
    Also, that Dingo REALLY needs a camera mounted at the roll bar pad in front of the driver/steering wheel. The one up higher did a great job of showing the helmet being bashed all over the place (along with the head inside it). You guys should VERY SERIOUSLY consider getting a padded neck brace to slow down that bouncing to lessen the brain scrambling.

    The only thing I will say is I felt the ghost engine got the short end of the stick in this video. Most of us building stuff won't need the accessories kit at all because we probably have the parts already which brings the cost down to 299.99 not $450. The second is it being fresh out of the box untuned or broken in. But I still loved the content keep it up!

    Gotta do this with the T4 Kart on a proper race track. As a reference i ran a bone stock 212 vs a tilly 225rs just tuning gearing on a kart similar to the T4 at my local track and the difference was on average 10 seconds between the 2 engines. high 54's with the tilly 225rs and about high 1:03's with a BONE STOCK 212. Loved this video you guys are awesome btw! 🤙🏻

    At the velocities you’re achieving with that Dingo, it looks like that spindly roll cage would just fold up and trap the driver in any sort of collision.

      I was mistaken, in a subsequent vid Isaac hit a tree branch with the Dingo at a pretty good clip and the roll cage got dinged, but protected him from injury

    It would be so easy to fix that track to where it wouldn't beat you to death. Just rent a Skid Steer with a 36" - 42" small dozer blade, and grade the track to where it's smooth. Just a few hours of work and you'd be running smoother and automatically have faster times too.

      @@WyFoster and possibly someone's life, or at least help prevent serious injury. That track is WAY too rough to be running those speeds with those type of tires. I've been upside down and bounced off a tree in a Kart because of a bumpy track and big grippy tires like that. Haha

    I've seen videos where the guys using these mention the vibration or knocking. Double check torque specs. Tear it apart hopefully you all find the root of that problem.
    By far one of the best video. 👌 thanks for for the years of knowledge and entertainment stay blessed.

    The boys are doing a great job of illustrating the law of diminishing returns. After a certain point profits/benefits gained from an endeavor will represent a proportionally smaller gain as more money or energy is invested in it. In this case the Tillotson 212 Stage 1 represents the sweet spot where the money & energy invested provides the highest return, proportionally. Loving the content from the new shop with longer run times and more production value!

    CarsandCameras Guys, what a helluva video of dropping ponies into that buggy! haha I was reading along in CC during lap times & commentary. Very informative all the way through... Won't be long before seeing one of those backyard karts with an air-ride seat! Would be a back saver for sure. That & a train whistle for coming through that finish line on the lap on that 2-wheelin style! haha Stay safe & great content. When the driving hand gets like that, it's time to go jiggin.
