Halfway through and dare I say....an instant classic? I swear I could watch this style video all day. I think I speak for all of us when I say we love to see you guys make something out of nothing. 👍🏻
There was something absolutely whimsical watching you guys putt around in this one. The sound of the engine, the laughing, all of it! Thank you for what you guys do.
How the heck do y’all find all these deals??? My dad said he would help me make a go kart but I need a chew frame. Could y’all tell me how y’all get the deals??? Also I pull a motor out of a old general and the carb was no good so we just chunked it because my grandpa told me that I could buy a whole new engine for the same price of the carb.
Yep, this is the one KFC was using for home deliveries. It's right hand drive so the chicken jockey can just jam the Zinger in the mailbox when they blow by at 14mph.
Exactly what I was thinking. They’re simply too lazy to clean the carburetor properly, and they also like kissing Go Powersports butt as often as they can.
@@TheKurtTribute It's 100% the second part. Also I wouldn't call it kissing their butts, its sponsored video content. Though I think it's short sighted, if they had come at it with building a $20 go cart from mild to wild, they could have done another series like the $50 go cart. "We had fun for $20 + Chain, now we throw a whole bunch of stuff at this thing and see how much more fun we have and how much it costs to get there."
This is what attracted me to your channel a couple years ago and kept me coming back. 2 guys in a garage making great projects and having fun. Unlike some of the others you stayed in a garage and kept it garage and back yard fun and haven't tried to upgrade to a professional shop. Please keep up the great content.
" i dont have a lot faith in this engine, do we have any Quaker state we can stick in this thing? " is the best fucking quote ive heard from issac by a long shot and hes got tons
I think y’all should build that ohc honda witch Honda still makes for things like pressure washers so finding parts for that exact engine shouldn’t be too hard
Not bad for 20 bucks. You guys need to bring out a bunch of the old carts that have not seen the light of day in ages and do some weekend testing and laps on the track to see what old projects are fast or not. The old murry would be great to see back running.
id like to see a singe powerful/heavy engine, maybe the diesel will fit on that chassis very nicely, tuning the diesel engine some (and potentially fixit it, the head/exhaust is warped) and this thing will rip!
I noticed the same thing.. When John hit the wet area it started acting up. I would love to see you guys keep working the bugs out of that motor.. I just love the fact that old motors can still run good.
Another great video John and Ike. This Old Man can remember getting a junkyard one over 65 years ago. I was 12 and the fun we had awesome. Love you guys 💝💝
I think you're right about the water puddle. It always seemed to really bog down in that particular area. I think it's getting water in the spark plug boot or something!
I LOVE how towards the END of the video when it just seems like it was gonna go south for the ole girl, but then ...IKE said ....she’s got one more....as if he could almost feel the ole 5.0 saying, give me ONE more lap before you JUST toss me. And that southern blood of IKE’s ran hot as the ole go cart days came back through his eyes as the ole girl slag him sideways left and right! She even CAME out with RPM’s at the end of that lap still covered in water and as if it didn’t really phase her I witnessed something truly spectacular in this video. Something I can totally relate to! This is why you guys are THE BEST at what you do. I respect ya’ll for producing it on film for all these years I’ve been watching since... before the live axle on the 50$ go cart, Aka the monster truck, Aka the true O.G.
We need to see a 2 man carbless cart with Ike on the back spraying starter fluid into the intake to control speed. Need a lap to see how fast you can go.
Be great to see you build this as a nippy, simple all-rounder. Stick a bigger engine on there, some big knobbly wheels for better traction & ground clearance, a single seat moved to the center (and maybe some sort of seat belt) and you're golden for a dope little off road kart. Looks like its got plenty good ground clearance already. Could be perfect for your track.
I've been recuperating from spinal fusion surgery for the passed month. Cars and Cameras and other great channels keep me from dying of boredom! I found a repairable Manco Dingo for sale $200, and I can't even go pick it up and work on it. You guys are the next best thing to turning wrenches!! EDIT...My back hurt just watching you guys drive that thing!
Been waiting for y'all to get your hands on one of these Honda OHC engines. Ripped one off a pressure washer for my first mini bike, real solid little number
This video reminds me the time I slightly built one. I bought a home made go kart body from a class mate with no engine or seat for 100 when I was in high school. Had found a Honda 340 gx engine with no carburetor, but bought a cheap dirt bike carb from amazon and custom made a new aluminum cast intake manifold for the carb somehow similar to the one in the video. The engine had to get a governor delete and it even had electric start. The engine also made about 2 or 3 extra horsepower because the carb venturi was a bit bigger than the factory carburetor. Then instead of the centrifugal clutch I once had but burnt out, I put a torque converter on and it was the best experience.
Put one those engines like what is on the CT 70s on it. then you would have a shifter kart. you might have to use a Jack shaft but that would give you more gearing options or lengthen the frame. I'm Thinking you must have something like that lying around.
This was great, and awesome to watch... this go kart is im sure the kind of kart that made people like us love go karting lol, i would love to see this built to a T with the twin and all :) and alittle more reinforcement haha maybe like a sandrail style ? keep up the awesome work guys
Its pricey but its well worth the price. Only issue i ever have is the can running out of aerosol before the cans empty. But I started emptying them into a squirt bottle. Lol
I put a Like but really expected a "Mustie1" or "Taryl Fixes All" miracle fix on that Honda engine and original Carburetor with all the Hype about a $20 Go Cart. Looking forward to seeing mods: Raised Suspicion, Snowmobile Engine, Center Steering, Single Seat, Rollover Protection. Make this one Heck of a Cart!
These videos are awesome! I just picked up a 1980's bird engineering yard kart with a flat head Briggs and Stratton for $50. Rebuilding an old kart is more enjoyable to me than buying a new one. If you're not having fun then it's not worth doing. Lol
Just worked on one of those engines yesterday. Friend wanted me to get a abandoned pressure washer going and turned out it only needed choked to start. Lol
reinforce the frame, build a full roll cage, add a wheelie bar to the back, and put a stage 3 pred 670 on it, and make a longer version of the black window kart, i think this one being longer should handle the power a little better than the other was, and it would be crazy fast, i'm still amazed at the time that right out of the field to the shop, that kart ran with some (not by any means minimal) work, should be a blast, and knowing you guys it'll be awesome
You could put a Y in the fuel line before the carb and feed one side as a return to the tank and the other to the carb. You would have flow to the carb with little pressure.
You guys should get one of those concrete filled lawn rollers they use for sports pitches, tow it behind the tractor when the ground is starting to firm um to smooth the track out. That way it will harden flat....
I have that same go cart and mine broke in the same spot in the rear end my advice is to reinforce the center support in the frame because the weld in the front isn't strong.
I think you guys need to gear it down. An overhead cam engine can typically rev higher than a pushrod engine. So lower gearing would allow it to rev. I think it'd be cool if u guys could modify this thing to just rev as high as possible. Maybe even dual screaming honda 5hps
If you guys don't have a Heated Ultrasonic Cleaner yall need to check it out. I build lots of toys and having that cleaner has been a life saver. Can make a 20 year old carb look and run like new. Roll was a pretty generous term.
More like drag
roll is a very subjective term...

Definitely go big engine. Nice, heavy frame with space to really hot rod this thing out. A customized street rod/show car of a go kart.

Keep the water from getting on the electrical system, it seems every time you hit water it started running like do-do.
I keep good used oil around for topping off oil for testing before a full change.
You are right Ike as soon as it hits water suddenly it doesn't like life.
