8:21 - "however you feel about it, he stops, and he lets the instruments either heal you, or take you further into it". This might be the most insightful thing I've ever heard on a reaction video, amazing.
You think it fits now? Come back to it in ten years. Then ten years after that. This song will morph and change over time, deepening as the years tick on. I can't hear it any more without losing control at least a bit. You'll see. P.S. For a truly awesome mix experience, put on their track, "Echoes". Lights off, light a candle, and kick back for a trip to the deepest oceans. One of the Top Five auditory experiences. True masters of sound.
This song was one of the reasons that "Dark Side of the Moon" was on Billboard's Top 200 Chart for a record 950 weeks, which is a little over 18 years. The entire album is a masterpiece.
@@karenj3611 Fine but keeping an eye out for Ian…think I’ll be okay though; Hurricane is supposed to weaken before it reaches my area 🤞🏼 Hope you’re doing well, too.
Don’t ever apologize for your deep thoughts. You’re one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. Such a powerful song and a great reaction. Keep up the great work.
Sounds, smells, touch will always brings back all of these memories. Music is the best to travel back in time. That's why I always put my headphones in while 650 feet up working on cell towers just enjoying thus music and the view
I enjoyed your reaction. Floyd takes me on many memory trips. Pink Floyd can be covered , but never recreated. So much to experience though thier songs. Enjoy your ride.
when I was 16 I thought 50 years was so long, at 51 i cant believe how fast the time has gone, 16 feels like last week. Prepare for the future, live for the present, learn from the past...its not easy to do and it will all be gone before you know it.
When you see Pink Floyd in concert, the music and sounds are in quadraphonic surround sound in the stadium..being it outside or inside! It's like listening with top notch headphones but live in concert!! BEWARE FOR THOSE WHO THINK OF GETTING STONED!! LOL
This might be the most satisfying reaction to “Time” I’ve ever seen, and I’ve watched dozens. I applaud your intelligence and thoughtfulness. This is why I subscribe to your channel. I was in my senior year of high school, just 3 months from graduating and moving on to college, when this album came out. I bought it the day it was released in the US. This song didn’t mean as much to me then, because my life was really just beginning. Now almost 50 years later, it moves me to tears as I reflect on the memories and regrets I’ve accumulated. The end seems much closer now, and I give more thought to how I spend the time I have left. That Roger Waters recognized this truth and was able to articulate it so meaningfully in his late 20s is a testament to the brilliance and the seriousness of this band. There is no other like them.
Very well put. My parents (who are about your age based on the math) put me onto Pink Floyd, among other greats from their generation. Sometimes it really feels like I was in high school or college just a couple years ago. But I wasn't. I'm 30. I'm working day in and day out, losing track of time, stressing about MONEY (😉) wondering when and how I'll ever break away from this rat race and live the fulfilling life I truly want to live. My natural life may still have decades left to go, but this song is becoming a lot more meaningful as the years go by. I'm discovering with age that I don't have as much time as I may perceive.
I have to agree. This man gets it immediately, emotionally for sure , and intellectually. To recognize that there is ‘sustenance’ to be had in this song and in this kind of music tells me everything. 👏👏👏
You are so right! Well, I agree with you, I am 67 and I have listened to this since it first came out, it never gets old or boring....all of of us "of that time" should get together and share Pink Floyd Dark Side stories...no one would believe most of them, I am guessing, but it would be fun to share
Growing up, I was familiar with this music from a time before I can even remember, but I do remember a time around 8 years old or so that I listened to this song with my father. Remembering his face in his 30's and how I perceived the world at that time is insane. Almost 20 years later, this song absolutely hits different....
You young man are the first of many reactions to realize the absolute basic message of this masterpiece. That was your epiphany comment " We are born to die!" I add to that wisdom this, " It is the soul who fears dying that NEVER learns to live!" Have a blessed day, and love that precious baby of yours! Like the song said before, you know it she is grown. Treasure every moment 💖
That line you referenced and those that preceded it are what pushed me to leave my hometown and to move on in life at the age of 21. I am now 71, and Pink Floyd is my favorite Pandora station.
I love how this song can be both depressing/contemplative and inspirational/motivating at the same time, all while taking you on a journey. It really is a masterpiece.
I'm only 30 but I guess it kind of hit me this year. Its a bitter pill to swallow. I'm probably close to half way through my life and I don't feel that I have accomplished anything yet! It really is a scary feeling that time is slipping away
@@mikemcgown6362 Thanks Mike 😅 haha. Unfortunately for me my life has only really just begun so let's hope that isn't true for me. I wasted my 20s with addiction issues and avoidance behaviors (undiagnosed with ADHD until 28). Gave myself a huge kick up the ass lately and now life is only starting to really click into place now. Yes I missed the starting gun but my current momentum in life is definitely in a positive/self-improving one now and things are definitely still moving towards my physical and mental peak in life. But it's not like I was a healthy man in my 20s. Everyone around me thinks I look younger now than I did 5 or even 10 years ago which can be hard to take in. It just goes to show that time can be an even more tricky thing to understand than we can comprehend. It can be taken from you behind your back without you ever knowing. It might even be given back to you in the future if you move yourself off of certain paths of unhealthy behaviors etc.. 'Your future' is exchanged, flows, and is changed all the time depending on the moves you make in the three dimensions you have some control over. Nothing is set in stone. The only thing that is certain about life is death. Nothing else. Everything that has a beginning has an end. Coming to accept this is half the battle of living a full life. I suppose Siddhartha Gautama Buddha must have been a very enlightened person to have come out with such things so long ago. It seems that we cannot really understand time fully as our consciousness is perceived in a way which we move involuntarily through one unseen dimension (time) as we move voluntarily through three other dimensions (space). Our consciousness functions in a way that enables us to feel in control of things because we do not perceive the forth dimension consciously or subconsciously. We only have awareness of knowingly moving and existing in three dimensions while the forth one is seemingly flowing constantly away without any chance of control or grasping at it. We can only observe time indirectly by seeing it's side effects on the first three dimensions. Your watch ticks because of the frequency that quartz vibrates at when an electric force flows through it. It is not a porthole into the next dimension. Time appears to flow away from us evenly but when we closely observe it we know that time bends and fluctuates depending on the amount of matter in that area of 'space' and nature of the matter. So just as the 2D world can have an impact on the 3D world, the consciousness within the next dimensions of reality (4D and onwards) might be able to perceive us in our 3D realm or we might even be able to push contact out with our dimensions. The clues to the true nature of reality and time travel must be in there somewhere 😉 haha. Trippy thinking for the day over with 😂. Sorry for the brain dump response haha
These lines always hit's me hard: "Waiting for someone or something to show you the way", and then these two lines "And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun" I always felt this way like I was left behind trying to figure life out, always scrambling to catch up, as if my friends and peers knew the answer. 50+ years later and I still feel that way at times. Loved the reaction, subbed.
I’m 21. Those lines everytime I hear them fill me with a desperation to not waste my life and to get up off my ass an pursue my dreams. This song is the reason I went back to college after covid and am now pursuing a PhD in Entomology instead of wasting my life in a factory job or trying to get a computer science degree just for money. What use is money if you hate the job you spend all your day working to get it. I don’t need large amounts of money. I just need enough to survive and a job doing something I love.
“I’m gonna zone out for this one”. Yup. He gets it. That’s what this album is for. It strips everything from around you, it’s just your brain and the sounds going through it.
Love the way you really listen not only to the music, but the lyrics. This is an incredibly powerful song. Try to listen to the album in its entirety all at once. That's how Pink Floyd is meant to be experienced.
This song makes everyone feel the way you do. And it doesn’t go away, you feel this way every time you hear it. And you feel exactly the same about it when you are 14 as when you’re 64. And although you can fully wrap your head around the message from the first time you hear it, you’ll never wrap your head around the feeling.
As someone that grew up in England during the Pink Floyd era it's fantastic to see someone experience the feeling of PF for the first time at a younger age. This music is timeless and I hope that many generations to come have such a delightful experience as this dude.
Outstanding, Blunt. Absolutely outstanding! I'm an old guy who came of age in the late 60's - early 70's listening to this music. It makes me smile to see you react to it just as I did 50 years ago. As an aside, I was writing binary machine code back in the late 70's. Keep at it!
Dicovered Pink Floyd when The Wall came out and then went back and forward with them. Was coding Basic from a book on my Apple II. Then Pascal in HS. Then college; assembly, Fortran, Pascal. Graduted and learned C then Java. Forever learning, always making mistakes and always improving.
@@TooBluntI have to say this by far the BEST reaction to a classic PF song.would love to know if you have listened to the whole album and what your thoughts where.if you can the movie is a must watch! Thankyou!!
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS
I was a teenager when the album came out...it will always be one of the most awesome things you could ever hear...yeah, it brings me back in time as well, and it does speak to many people...they were master of electronics, and had the guitars talking to you, like an opera....and you're spot on about the guitar riff trying to make you feel better after he told you losing 10 years and more...
Something I love about this song is in the beginning when he is young, he talks about being bored in his hometown and restless to leave. Then towards the end of the song he is older and likes to be in his hometown, it brings comfort. Just a nice callback and to show how mindsets and such things change as you age.
I’ve been listening to this song for 50 years and it still strikes me as brilliant every single time. Pink Floyd is music that you have to really listen to. There’s no band quite like them. The long instrumentals are designed to give you time to really ponder those deep, deep lyrics. Beautiful. Timeless. This music truly is art.
You have it spot on. I cannot believe how fast the days are passing and what did I do? Not much it feels like. I am 61 in December; sometimes it is too late to restart. Floyd makes you think deeply, though I heard the album when I was babysitting, aged 14. Kids asleep, I put on the headphones and it blew my 14 year old brain out. My doors of perception were starting to loosen...
@@thetalantonx Oh yes, open, cleansed and staying that way. This (after all things Beatles) was what really started the journey, or trip, if you will. 😆
Damn dude, out of all of the reaction videos I've ever seen, this has gotta be one of my favorites. I showed a friend of mine this song back when we were freshly in college and he had pretty much the same reaction. We spent a long time talking about the fleeting nature of time and about regrets and hopes. I feel like the conversation would take on a totally different cast now that we've been finished with school for a few years and started making a lot more big life decisions, working our careers, and trying to juggle all of it while trying to find the time to slow down and appreciate it.
Your analysis and the fact that you are a developer really hit home for me. My best friend growing up turned on to Pink Floyd when Dark Side came out. This message behind this song immediately grabbed me. Now, fifty years later, my best friend passed just before his 60th. I have now turned 60 and my wife and have decided to retire early and live what time we have left.
Thank you for characterizing the guitar solo as "healing," as a balmy remedy after being ripped open by the lyrics. What a great insight. You may not know this, but Pink Floyd is an extremely divided band (along with its fan base) with Roger Waters (songwriter, bass player and co-singer), on one side, and the three other members on the other, including the incredible David Gilmour on lead guitar and vocals. Waters is very dark, caustic, and alienating, and the rest of the band members are optimistic and have refused to work with Waters because he does not appreciate their contributions. The other three went on as Pink Floyd and did well without Waters. Some people do not like PF because the subject matter is always dark (Waters), but stay because the guitar solos (Gilmour) are famous for being musically elegant and emotional (and as you brilliantly describe: "healing"). Some love the lyrics and can relate. It is those who appreciate both that really love PF. I guess we appreciate the value of the experience of getting ripped open and healed in the same song. There is something special about the way you think...it is a gift from God.
There aren't a lot of albums out there you can call life changing. Dark Side of the Moon is one of them. The production the music the writing, it could have been recorded yesterday rather than 50 years ago. It is why generation after generation continues to discover it, and are moved by it. Check out "Us and Them" from this album. Another classic. Usually people don't get hit with copyright for Pink Floyd songs, so I'd be surprised if you did. Most people let songs of theirs play right through with no problem.
I've seen these guys in concert four times in three different decades and I've seen everybody from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin and everyone in between alphabetically including Paul McCartney Michael Jackson Genesis The Who Metallica and I could go on and on and I've never seen a group like Pink Floyd who could put 60,000 people in a trance!! If you watch anything from the 1994 Pulse concert you'll notice there's thousands of people sitting there absolutely still! That's what they do to you beside their music and lyrics being brilliant both! Enjoy watching you discover them like I did! Their music's even Beyond out of left field I don't think they're of this Earth! Keep up the good work and you'll hit 100K pretty soon!! "Us and Them" from the Same album will put you in the same galaxy or headspace! It's an incredible song that sings about the differences of the classes and War! And as far as life, life is chasing the sun and not catching it! Last comment, before you know it your 2-year-old daughter will be a teenager and is going to be rolling her eyes at everything you tell her saying "oh Dad"!
Their lyrics and the the way they massage the music is haunting. Another great band. Background vocals, subtle and, yes…haunting. Do listen to that entire album. It’s a treasure.
This was created in 1971….. i was ten years old. Im now 61, and this song is still on the top ten. Think about that…..i first heard this in 1972, its an epic musical masterpiece written for anyone with a life, and an ear.
Have you ever wondered how these guys wrote a song like this? In their 20's? This song should be written by old people as an advise for the younger! But they were young back then and they wrote a song that can make old people hit their heads on the wall for having their whole life wasted. It's a complete paradox! P.S. Just subscribed.
Waters was almost 30 when this album came out. And the seventies were a bad time to be a rock icon. So many lost to drugs and alcohol. By the time he was thirty he had had more life experiences than most people do in an entire lifetime.
WELCOME TO DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, ITS MENT TO BE A 'ZONE OUT' ALBUM .. WAIT FOR 'GREAT GIG' IN THE SKY! VOCALS? HECK YEAH, IVE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS ALBUM FOR 50YRS. THE DEPTH OF THIS BAND IS LEGENDARY .. WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!
It's always weird to hear this song played in isolation, to hear it end so unnaturally instead of transitioning directly to the quiet piano segue into the gut-wrenching, transcendent vocals of Great Gig
What is weird is Time actually ended with the lyrics "thought I had something more to say" Breathe Reprise is name of the song between Time and the Great Gig. th-cam.com/video/SnxXtJxNWao/w-d-xo.html
I first started listening to Pink Floyd back in 1975 when I was a teenager. And to this day I still pull out Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish you were here and, of course, The Wall. Maybe it's a developer thing but it really appeals to me. Also of note The Alan Parsons Project, "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" and "I Robot" are great. I believe Alan Parsons was one of the engineers on Dark Side of the Moon. Enjoy!
You get it, sir. There's an astonishing amount of genius in Pink Floyd's music. If you want to really have your mind blown, Listen to PF's live performance of Comfortably Numb. Comfortably Numb is one of the most extraordinary pieces of music ever composed. I always felt that towards the end, it became the funeral march of a lost and tormented soul. All of the anguish and regret of something glimpsed and lost is distilled and channeled into one extended searing cry. This never gets old. Ever. It speaks to something that we all know and cannot be expressed in any other way. Music - real music is a language all its own. Extraordinary musicians like David Gilmour can communicate their inner experiences as few can today. Gilmour’s guitar appears to be connected directly to his soul. Some musicians can manage that for a few moments. For Gilmour, it’s his natural state of being. It is unmistakable and cannot be faked.
I have watched 6-8 reactions to this song so far. You my friend have one of the best reactions I have seen to this one. You get it. I am 57 and I feel this song every day. I was paralyzed in a car accident at the age of 17 and was told to not expect to live any older than 40. Here I am 57 in pretty good health still but I feel it creeping up on me. Thanks for listening to some good music and giving us your thoughts on it.
Not even 2 minutes in and you've already earned my sub. The immediate deep contemplation and the openness of your reflection at the first pause sets you apart, thanks for showing reverence to the classics and sharing your personal experience with us
My my my♥️ love this reaction!! I’m 63 and have been listening to this music (my favourite) for almost 50 years!! Your reaction is so inspiring and intuitive. Your words were beautiful!! I believe you possess an ‘old soul’❤ Bless you and your precious family 🙏 Keep the awesome reactions coming, you rock!! I have faith in you!!
What's amazing is how relatable this song is to just about any person. The first time I heard PINK FLOYD was this song on a mix cd a friend burned for me in high school. I was so fascinated that I told all my friends and had them listen. Another friend bought me the Dark Side of the Moon album for my 16th birthday. Their music truly changed me in some wholesome and eccentric ways. Their music also inspired me musically as there is a soothing component, especially to this song. I did enjoy your reaction!
We have SO much time in our life. Don’t feel stressed, enjoy the things you love. Stay away from people who take away your positive energy. Love and protect your family. Do never doubt your skills ever! Life is not a competition, it is a journey. Learn, teach, do less things, but with heart and passion. You already know that 💖 Love this song and your reaction. I am 56, grew up with Pink Floyd. Many sings can’t even be explained. If you feel what you have felt listening to Time, well, that’s all you have to understand. Thanks for sharing.
An interesting aspect to this song is the progression of life it covers. The first verse is childhood, wasting the hours, the middle is adult life, chasing the sun, and then the final verse is old age, warming your bones by the fire at home and then, finally, your funeral at the church. Also, during the opening, the power chord rings out twelve times, the clock, tolling away.
This came out when I was 3 my older siblings played it while I was in my playpen . It’s in my subconscious mind. It’s in my soul. It will never escape. I’m 54.. I love it just as much now as I have every year I’ve been alive. Your reaction was pure GOLD! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hi from England.. I thought your comments throughout were insightful and deep (like the song itself) however your comment around the 13:40 mark were very interesting! I have experienced this myself. What i have listened to has either helped or made worse a mood for the rest of a day. Great reaction bro.
I was given this album for my 21st birthday when it was first released and it sounds just as good now as it did then, I still have that original vinyl copy. Almost 50 years later and the words are more relevant than ever. The best way to appreciate it is to find some time to sit and listen to the whole thing without a pause. Thanks for a great reaction.
Liked your reaction and as a long time PF fan it's nice to see the younger generations discover their music. If you want to see them live, check out the PULSE concert from 1994. David Gilmour in action. They did DSOTM plus Comfortably Numb. They are older but you'll never see better versions of these songs. Truly masters of their art!
Since it’s mostly accepted now, in 1973, I was 30 years old when I first heard this album. My best friend played it while we shared a bong of grass…she had these bean bag chairs and we each just lay back on them, closed our eyes and, literally, let the music wash over us.?.yeah, I know…that was then. As for you…you’re on the path to success because, YOU LISTEN! You take the messages from those great songs, absorb them and apply them to your own life. Brilliant reaction. Hugs!
The darkside of the moon is a part of my soul. This album should be experienced in its entirety. It's a singular peice of music, all about the human experience. I love a lot of albums, but none of them reside in the highest place of my mind where this one does.
Probably the best reaction/interpretation I've seen on TH-cam. I love how you really got the meaning of this piece. Been listening to Pink Floyd for many years. I started appreciating what they were saying in my late teens/early 20's. A lot of their music is relatable and carries lessons and coping mechanisms along with their brilliant musicianship. I'm going to check out a few more of your videos and can almost guarantee I'll subscribe as well. Best of luck with your future and raising your daughter.
Your reaction is the best I’ve seen of this song, & I’ve watched a few. You really grasp the meaning of the words, the personal depth of the music & the ultimate message the writer is trying to convey, we all have to learn to understand & appreciate the time we have & enjoy it with those we love. Great reaction 👍
The planetarium in the city where I grew up had laser light shows starting at midnight, and Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon was one of the best. There's nothing quite like feeling this music in every cell of your body from the massive speaker system while insane patterns fill the air.
@@kennySE65 Hell yeah. For me it was the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and they killed it every time. They had everything from Laser Floyd to The Crystal Method to Metallica.
PF has a way to take your head on many travels lilbro. Enjoy it, be part of it. This album rolled out in 73. I was just out of high school. Those days were off the hook.
I can't remember the first time I heard this song because my Dad raised me on Pink Floyd and played their music everyday since before I was born. Keep going down this rabbit hole man, there's much more to come. Pink Floyd is a springboard to changing your life.
I love this song but it makes you realize how fast *10yrs* goes by feels like yesterday. But I never listened to it with earphones/earbuds & never recognize that heartbeat before
This is one of the best songs ever made in my opinion, off of likely the best album ever made in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed it so much. Be safe. Be awesome.
I appreciate that you actually listen to and comprehend the lyrics and meaning of this masterpiece. Too many reactors I have seen react to this focus on the music (which is incredible) but fail to comprehend the message behind song. Good for you. Regardless of all of our ages... NOW is the time to start living life!
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard this song in my life but I’ve heard it many times and I’ve even seen Pink Floyd in concert but the first time I actually paid attention to the lyrics was just a couple of months ago and it hit me so hard that I cried.
Was just talking about that today (differnt song). But how you can sing along to a song for years, kind of knowing the words but never really listening to it. Check out Disturbed's cover of Sound of Slience from Simon and Garfunkel. It is like you never knew the words at all. Stunning.
I first listened to this song when the album was released to the public. I have owned Dark Side of the Moon in various formats. The album, 8-track tape, cassette tape, CD and the re-released album. It's been a lifetime of DSOTM. I feel blessed from the first time until today. 🙏🏻
Probably the scariest song I have ever heard. The reality of inevitability. "Do you hear that Mr. Anderson. That is the sound of inevitability." Having lived for over a half of century, I feel this song. But I choose to not be paralyzed by the feeling of regret. The scars, the grey, the loss of hearing, the constant aches, have all been well earned. The scars are there to remind us the past was real. PR
I've been listening to Pink Floyd for all of my life, and when I say all of my life, I mean I knew the lyrics to so many songs before I was 4. Every year this song hits closer and closer to home. I'm 48.
I started playing music at age 13. That was a few decades ago. Floyd, even at that age, was probably the biggest musical influence in my life. Your reaction to this iconic piece of musical art is honest, moving and quite beautiful. Brought me to tears.
It’s a song that makes me feel more appreciative of the wisdom expressed in the lyrics. I was a teenager (14) the first time I heard this song. It has so much more meaning for me now.
I'm 65 I heard this when it first came out. You must listen to this nonstop to get the full effect. I love that you are getting it so quick. Good music never gets old or dies
8:21 - "however you feel about it, he stops, and he lets the instruments either heal you, or take you further into it". This might be the most insightful thing I've ever heard on a reaction video, amazing.

This song was one of the reasons that "Dark Side of the Moon" was on Billboard's Top 200 Chart for a record 950 weeks, which is a little over 18 years. The entire album is a masterpiece.

62 here so cut my teeth on music like this! I turned my, now 31 year old daughter onto Pink Floyd early on & she still loves them!
That was your epiphany comment " We are born to die!" I add to that wisdom this, " It is the soul who fears dying that NEVER learns to live!"
Have a blessed day, and love that precious baby of yours! Like the song said before, you know it she is grown. Treasure every moment 💖
That line... "No one told you when to run. You've missed the starting gun." is like a gut-punch every time I hear it. 56 years old right now.
54 here - been listening to this since I was 5 years old. Gut punch does not do the feeling justice....
Just turned 78 strange how sometimes it takes awhile to understand the meaning of a song and have gut punch you with reality.
15 here, but it still hits pretty hard
That line you referenced and those that preceded it are what pushed me to leave my hometown and to move on in life at the age of 21. I am now 71, and Pink Floyd is my favorite Pandora station.
36th birthday few days ago. Ive listened to this song of and on for so many years... I think my mentality is bad
I love how this song can be both depressing/contemplative and inspirational/motivating at the same time, all while taking you on a journey. It really is a masterpiece.
well said
Dude, I'm 55, and I'm still moved by this song...that feeling of time slipping away just gets more and more intense!
When the hell did we get old
I'm only 30 but I guess it kind of hit me this year. Its a bitter pill to swallow. I'm probably close to half way through my life and I don't feel that I have accomplished anything yet! It really is a scary feeling that time is slipping away
Give Invincible by Tool a listen, so powerful from this perspective
@@lewisisdaman looking back to when I was 30, I realize that's when I was at my peak. Everything after that seems to be disappointing.
I'm so glad people still feel the magic in this music
This entire album is meant to be listened to in one setting from beginning to end.
yep, and IMO, the best way to listen to it is laid on the floor in a dark room or even eyes closed -
Plus one more ingredient...Can't remember what, it's on the tip of my tongue. 😝
@@scoggzap this is a great comment

Um... I think all albums are actually...
These lines always hit's me hard:
"Waiting for someone or something to show you the way", and then these two lines
"And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun"
I always felt this way like I was left behind trying to figure life out, always scrambling to catch up, as if my friends and peers knew the answer.
@@thecheeseman31415 this response makes me smile. You 'get it'. Go get your best life!
“I’m gonna zone out for this one”. Yup. He gets it. That’s what this album is for. It strips everything from around you, it’s just your brain and the sounds going through it.
Never seen this channel and as soon as he said that I subscribed.
:)
this song make you stop and reflect all your life, omg i love you pink floyd
The guitar does heal your sorrows in that moment, you’re absolutely right.
It's everybody's story man!
No band anywhere near Pink Floyd, their music takes the listener on a cerebral journey!
Dude, all I'm gonna say is this made me cry. ❤️
As someone that grew up in England during the Pink Floyd era it's fantastic to see someone experience the feeling of PF for the first time at a younger age. This music is timeless and I hope that many generations to come have such a delightful experience as this dude.
We all zoned out to this. You’re in good company.
Outstanding, Blunt. Absolutely outstanding! I'm an old guy who came of age in the late 60's - early 70's listening to this music. It makes me smile to see you react to it just as I did 50 years ago. As an aside, I was writing binary machine code back in the late 70's. Keep at it!
Oooooooh BINARY ! Man I respect the hell out of that. Assembly code is already a challenge but binary woooh you’re a hero man!
I was 14 when this popped. It was a great time to be a teenager, maybe the best ever.
my favorite pink floyd song.
Why can’t I hit “like” a thousand more times!
:) awe shucks
Something I love about this song is in the beginning when he is young, he talks about being bored in his hometown and restless to leave. Then towards the end of the song he is older and likes to be in his hometown, it brings comfort.
Just a nice callback and to show how mindsets and such things change as you age.
Never apologize for your thoughts and recollections, we're here for them.
My doors of perception were starting to loosen...
you're never too old to restart...but I feel ya, we are the same age group...I wasted a few years...
"When the doors of perception are finally cleansed..." Nice reference.
@@thetalantonx Oh yes, open, cleansed and staying that way. This (after all things Beatles) was what really started the journey, or trip, if you will. 😆
Mate…..no regrets
PLEASE listen to the entire record in your headphones, man! It will become a part of you! Bless your little girl , man!
I remember where I was in life when this album first came out. Now I’m 65 so I’ve lived this song! I just subscribed. You have a great outlook!😎
Last comment, before you know it your 2-year-old daughter will be a teenager and is going to be rolling her eyes at everything you tell her saying "oh Dad"!
its the natural dopimine its thare affect on the humun body sound then the lyrics its a natural perfection
Remember how High School seemed to take forever? 4 years. When you were younger, time was so slow. Now, 4 years goes by in a blink of an eye.
Yes. Where on earth did Roger get this from?
They had an inside track.
Waters was almost 30 when this album came out.
And the seventies were a bad time to be a rock icon. So many lost to drugs and alcohol.
By the time he was thirty he had had more life experiences than most people do in an entire lifetime.
Exactly ! Well said
So glad you found Pink Floyd! You are on the correct path and it’s a beautiful thing to see. Enjoy ❤❤
Awesome deep thought 💭
It just doesn’t get any better than Pink Floyd 🔥❤️🔥❤️
Pink Floyd does that to everyone. It's mind and body blowing. It's legendary. People will be hooked on this in 500 years or for eternity.
Well said sir I couldn't agree with you more 👍👍👍
I have watched 6-8 reactions to this song so far. You my friend have one of the best reactions I have seen to this one. You get it. I am 57 and I feel this song every day. "Great Gig In the Sky" is song with no words.just pure emotion. About the different stages of grief/death.
I did enjoy your reaction!
strangely the soothing part is the end - Breathe reprise - when you’re approaching death
Literal existential crisis in song form. Thank you Pink Floyd.
Great observation, I always thought the same thing .
Warming his bones is his final days, then across the fields is the funeral of said person.
When I was 9 years old (in 1990) I would open the sleeve and always loved it when bullshit was sung for Money track 😂
I love a lot of albums, but none of them reside in the highest place of my mind where this one does.
yes
Probably the best reaction/interpretation I've seen on TH-cam. I love how you really got the meaning of this piece. Been listening to Pink Floyd for many years. I started appreciating what they were saying in my late teens/early 20's. A lot of their music is relatable and carries lessons and coping mechanisms along with their brilliant musicianship. I'm going to check out a few more of your videos and can almost guarantee I'll subscribe as well. Best of luck with your future and raising your daughter.
Your reaction is the best I’ve seen of this song, & I’ve watched a few. Great reaction 👍
The planetarium in the city where I grew up had laser light shows starting at midnight, and Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon was one of the best. There's nothing quite like feeling this music in every cell of your body from the massive speaker system while insane patterns fill the air.

I can't remember the first time I heard this song because my Dad raised me on Pink Floyd and played their music everyday since before I was born. Keep going down this rabbit hole man, there's much more to come. Pink Floyd is a springboard to changing your life.
The end of the song, starting with "home again", he is in heaven.
The last line leads you to the next song, Great Gig in the Sky, an absolute masterpiece. The album is meant to be listened to as a whole.

I appreciate that you actually listen to and comprehend the lyrics and meaning of this masterpiece. Was just talking about that today (differnt song). But how you can sing along to a song for years, kind of knowing the words but never really listening to it. Check out Disturbed's cover of Sound of Slience from Simon and Garfunkel. It is like you never knew the words at all. Stunning.

Had the 78 myself. Awesome album
PR
That was beautiful. Well said. Great wisdom.
Love the reaction to my favorite Floyd song.
I love watching Pink Floyd first reaction videos. People that have never experienced Floyd are always blown away.
I'm an old dude, and love watching young people like yourself get into these great song's. Keep it going!
great reaction as always, Pink Floyd is one of the greats for sure, will never disappoint
I'm 65 I heard this when it first came out. You must listen to this nonstop to get the full effect. I love that you are getting it so quick. Good music never gets old or dies
