Dark Side was my favourite when I was in high school, but Wish You Were Here means more to me for an adult. I don't think in those days I was quite ready for the sincerity of this album and Dark side has a certain mystique to it that was more alluring then
Congratulations, you are a lover of good music that brings out your feelings. I am 62 and I am happy to see how people as young as you learn and appreciate the music made by all the great bands that wrote the book of modern music. Pink Floyd, progressive, symphonic and psychedelic rock, a demonstration of freshness, creativity and genius. You have reacted to the first song of, for me, along with The dark side of the Moon, the two best albums of the band. I suggest you listen to them as P.F. deserves, a darkness and chill place, light some candles and some sticks of sandalwood, pachouli or whatever you like and above all, close your eyes and let your mind fly to other dimensions and dreams. Thanks for your emotive and honest reaction. Keep on rocking beautiful ❤ Greetings from Barcelona.
I already loved this song, but one time when I was driving back to Texas from Colorado, and had just entered New Mexico, coming down the south side of Raton Pass where you get a great view of the distant mountains and grasslands, and with fog hanging over the valley below while the sun shined above, I turned on this song in my car and listened. The feeling of the music with the beautiful scene below me was almost overwhelming it was so beautiful. That long, dense, G minor playing quietly and then slowly getting louder, it felt like a huge expanse, and then the main notes began, you know when Rick begins to play that opening sequence, and you hear the chimes and wine glasses in the background at the same time, wow it was just so fantastic. That was about 25 years ago, and to this day I still have a vivid memory of that experience and it always feels good!
Both the guitarist, David Gilmour, and the keyboardist, Richard Wright, while not the most technical players, were both extremely emotive musicians, creating a distinct "atmosphere" and drawing out deep emotions from their listeners. What you felt is very real and happens to many who hear this song.
I have heard both David and Richard play very technical music.. .....but that is not Pink Floyd. If you want to hear David at his best, then search U Tube for his performance at a Les Paul benefit concert. David played the best Chicago blues I have ever heard, and on a black Les Paul with gold trim and pin striping . What he plays is often so technical that technical players simply CAN'T play it . If you like technical music, then you can listen to computer noises or guitarists like John Williams and Tommy Emmanuel . Recommend Tommy's Classical Gas live in a private room ( maybe his house ) or a live Initiation......a very different " technical ". Or John Williams doing the Concertino de Aranjuez or Asturias ( by Isaac Albeniz ) , which I am listening to right now......as technical as it can get . Oh......and when John plays Asturias he is by himself with only ONE Australian made guitar.
@@fredtello Which artist or music do you want a link to ? For Tommy Emmanuel, just type his name into Google Search..... you can access his videos from his Wikipedia Page and other sites. Should be the same for John Williams......but there are many profiles listed as John Williams , including the famous American movie score composer. The classical guitarist is an Australian born Englishman ( English father ) often regarded as the world's No1 classical guitarist, but not by everyone. lol Most music can be found on Google search just by the artists name or the music's name and if you type U Tube first , then Google will take you to a list of their videos.
Define “technical “. In my humble opinion their technique is unmatched. Dave Mustaine once said David Gilmour could do more with one note than most can accomplish with the entire fretboard.
This album takes me right back to being a teenager. Pink floyd are the masters of album making. Animals. Wish you were here. Dark side of the Moon. The Wall. 😎
It really does, like you said it doesn't matter what nationality or where someone lives, they feel it just the same. I have loved this song (all parts), from the time I first heard it back in '76, and to this day I still love it and it never gets old. And I still feel the same great feelings every time I hear it.
The album cover represents the record executives and the guy representing the band is the one on fire who got burned in the deal! That sound you hear at the end of the song it's the beginning of the next song called "Welcome to the Machine"! It's a song that still sounds futuristic today even though it was made back in 1975!
Pink Floyd is my favorite band. But if you listen to the guitar work you will notice how David Gilmour basically makes the guitar speak to you. He’s a legend 🎸
Your tears are the best reaction to this timeless opus. You owe it to yourself to listen to parts 6-9 of this work. Welcome to the Pink Floyd family dear one.
Yeah I agree, this piece should be experienced in it's entirety, all parts, not just 1-5 but all of it. Parts 6-9 are especially powerful emotionally. This is such a brilliant piece!
What you have discovered here is not only 4 exceptional musicians, but 4 musicians who have developed a telepathic understanding and communication, this is why only Pink Fliyd could create something like this, where all 4 musicians interweave their instruments with each other to create something highly emotionally charged and that is way, way more than the sum of its parts
I am 63 years old and i seen Pink Floyd in concert 2 times maybe 3 , And when the giant pig flew out over the crowd lol it was crazy , one of the best light shows ever
Shine on Your Crazy Diamond 1-9 is one of Pink Floyds greatest works of art and it is criminally overlooked because of it's length. Shame on society for this. The song makes you feel a lot of emotions without your control. I am glad more people are being exposed to it's bewitching beauty.
I grew up with these guys playing in the background. I guess we all felt a bit like you did the first time we heard Pink Floyd. You experience them as they play, and every song is a gem. Music to wallow in. Great reaction too. I suspect your channel will flourish if you continue like that. Be well young lady.
The mythology around Syd Barrett is expansive, wide, and comprehensive. You can read up on it all you’d want. It’s terrifying and horrifying in equal measures (in my mind). What may be enough to know initially is this: those boys loved him… and missed him terribly.
An emotional song only intensified when you realize it was dedicated as a tribute to their long-lost leader, Syd Barrett, who suffered from an irreversible mental condition that left him in total isolation for most of his life. The band had not seen or heard from Syd for 5 years, when he showed up unannounced during this recording session. Nobody recognized him. He looked old with a shaven head. Finally, bassist Roger Waters figured it out and broke down uncontrollably. He would disappear and rarely be heard of again until his death some 30 years later.
How amazing to relive these epic gems again through others eyes that feel it like we did. Its even more special today given the scripted formulaic music and general mayhem.
I absolutely love your reaction to this experience. Being moved by music makes you so human. I have loved this track since I bought the album when it first came out in 1977. I used to listen to the album with headphones on, in the dark and lying on the floor. Total immersion.
I’m 56 I’ve listened all My life and this has to be my favorite As I already commented lol I think I hear and feel this more now as an older person than I did as a teen It just mesmerizes me every single time after all these years Remarkable ❤
I have been listening to Pink Floyd since I was 6 in 1971, they always hit me in the feels in one way or another and I have never tired of their music. At 59 I still get a tear every now and against.
The noise at the end was the next track in the album coming in (Welcome to the machine). I've been listening to Floyd for 40 years. I'm glad you found them :)
Wow, what a beautiful reaction! You understand music not by the song (the words), not by the dance (the rhythm), not by the show (if you were seeing a performance or a video) but by the sounds going through time (the music) and how that makes you feel. You don't need any "ambiance" around you to enjoy this to its full extent, I can see you got completely immersed in the music and the rest of the world just vanished. And that's such a great gift to have. Thank you for letting us witness and share your experience.
Every time I listen to this song for the past 46 years, tears well up in my eyes and my soul sank. This is my very, very favorite song of all time and of all bands.
Wow, another amazing reaction to this classic song suite, Pink Floyd affects your soul with music unlike almost anyone else in my experience. They create unique soundscapes that pull you in and you can focus on nothing else, the music is that compelling. They have a bunch of classic albums in the 70s that are as good a run as anyone else produced. Try the next song on the album and song you just reacted to, Welcome to the Machine, is what this leads into, another Floyd classic and showcase for Rick Wright on keyboards & synthesizer. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶
This song changed my world... I never heard a more cerebral, and yet emotional song ever.... I was 18 when I first heard this song, and l bought the album, and the whole album, was perhaps the most perfect album ever....
Years ago I was playing this in my car with my then 3 year old daughter, she listened for a while and then said "Daddy, this makes me sad." Yes, and so it should.
What an absolutely beautiful reaction. I like Pink Floyd a lot, and I've watched a lot of reactions. I love watching people get exposed to PF for the first time. Yours is the most beautiful reaction I've seen. Pink Floyd usually takes several listenings before someone finally starts to hear it. But you heard it clearly in this first hearing; I could literally see the music flowing through (into and out of) your very soul. Your head movements, your eyes and your mouth, even the way you were breathing, all showed that you were hearing this music in a full and correct way. The way you teared up during a non-vocal part of the music, and the way your eyes looked upward many times as if you were experiencing the ecstasy of this music. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is a long, very slow blues, and many people don't hear it well on their first hearing, but you clearly did. And I loved every minute of you hearing this amazing music so fully.
Oh my ! .Y our comment made my heart melt ❤️. Thank you, i’m so glad you love it and not judgmental about my feelings . Sending a thousand hug to you 💕💕🤗
It was so beautiful to see your reaction to hearing this great song. (One of many that Pink Floyd have produced). Thank you for sharing this time with us, and I hope you will continue to discover more of their emotionally stirring music.
Thank you for considering my song suggestion "Shine on you Crazy Diamond". And above all, thank you for making this video public, because your reaction is the one I hoped to see you experience. Even though you were left without words to explain what you had just listened to, your silence and your tears spoke very loudly.
Wow, your reaction was truly something to behold! I was smiling and getting misty-eyed watching you have this amazing experience. There was a purity and sincerity to what I was witnessing that I found truly beautiful. In a way, there's an element of sadness, that those initial intense emotions gradually fade as we become accustomed to what we are experiencing. It's still amazing and enjoyable, but those first moments cannot be beaten. Your reaction re-kindled that first-time feeling for me, and it felt wonderful. I am glad you had the courage to upload this. Thank you for sharing.
You don’t have to say anything. We can see that you just discovered what Pink Floyd is all about.
😊
Welcome aboard sweetheart. We love you.
I'll say
If Pink Floyed doesn't make you cry, your not human.
That’s deep 🧐
I consider this to be in the top three songs that were ever written produced and performed
I would even say it’s THE best song ever made
I buy that.
Pink Floyd takes you so far inside yourself you can't help being overwhelmed with emotion. Only intensifies and gets better as you get older.
David Gilmour doesn't 'play' guitar, it is his voice, and he uses it to sing, to plead, to cry, and to draw forth emotions like no lyrics could.
Never be shy of who you truly are, we are all just humans on this crazy trip.
Everyone goes on about Dark Side of the Moon, but for me Wish You Were Here is by a distance Pink Floyd’s best album.
I usually just say that their run from Meddle to The Wall was exceptional.
Dark Side was my favourite when I was in high school, but Wish You Were Here means more to me for an adult. I don't think in those days I was quite ready for the sincerity of this album and Dark side has a certain mystique to it that was more alluring then

This intro is incredible.. no hurry to get the song started !, we’re setting the mood!!

You never paused a first listen. I will watch all your reactions.
It's impossible to react to Pink Floyd's music without emotions, never apologize just enjoy the experience
I feel exactly like that whenever I hear this. It never gets old, never.
Absolutely never get old .
That is what good music does, it touches your soul, it takes you on a journey where it is not about a destination but about enjoying the ride.
