Most of them are just jealous assholes that can’t stand to see someone who has done something productive with their life despite a disability. The only way for those jealous turds to somehow save their miserable ego, is to attack everyone and everything that pokes a hole in their imagined self worth.
(Speaking from experience here. At our last Highschool reunion, there were some people who desperately tried to prevent certain people from being inhibited. Those people were: the guy who lost a leg ( still became a personal trainer); the girl who had violent seizures (currently studying game design) and the guy with Tourette’s (he opened a brewery). You could see it in their faces, that they were thinking “what did I do with my life”.
(They didn’t want me there either but that’s because I got one of them convicted for wire fraud)

Being an older sister of a SEVEN YEAR OLD who has Tourette’s, I know it is very much real. Her doctors showed us SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE and although hers is much more mild, I know for a fact that people don’t always fake it. In fact, it starting at such a young age makes it hard to understand for the child, and they may feel as if they are different (in a negative way), which I wish they didn’t feel. If she was diagnosed at the age of 12, she likely experienced this, and she wants to spread awareness to other people who may have been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome so they don’t feel that way also. I may have worded this terribly, but maybe some will understand or maybe relate. Please stop the hate and don’t accuse people of things you don’t know are completely true.

If you don't understand a condition either physical or mental, there is plenty of search engines on the world wide web for you to do a bit of research. Tourettes certainly IS a real syndrome and people certainly do suffer from it. @@velynnec It is Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It's when your blood volume is low when standing so it pools in your legs and your heart beats faster over time trying to push it back up. It will cause your heartbeat to sky rocket. Mine usually reaches 160-190 beats per minute without passing out. Some people pass out earlier at 150-180 beats. It causes extreme discomfort in my legs and my chest. I also breathe heavier so wearing a mask really screwed me over. Some cases are so severe they pass out as soon as they stand and they have to be in a wheel chair while some are manageable, but it is still hell. I can't get any job that requires me to stand and some have refused my applications most likely due to my condition.

I know how you feel, I have (h)EDS witch basically means I have very loose joints, so doing certain things really hurts. I've been accused of fakeing alot and boy does it suck. Since I'm healthy looking, and not to mention 15 years old, people dont believe I have chronic joint pain. I've have to explain the entire condition to every PE teacher I've ever had, and alot of the time they're STILL skeptical. I mean I know (h)eds is a zebra disease, but wow some people are dence.

People say "get over it," or "you have no reason to be sad or depressed, you are so privileged" but do people ever realize that everyone is different and go through different lives?? Just because one person can think positively doesn't mean another can just forget about their worries on command. Telling someone to be happy when they are depressed is like telling someone to drive faster when they're out of gas and the vehicle isn't moving. It's stupid how people think that depressed people don't try to be happy, especially when they don't know what that person is going through or what caused their depression.

Wouldn't an idiot be someone who is needlessly depressed or anxious? Tourette's is an actual disorder caused by "bad wiring". Being depressed or anxious is little more than emotional issue. I used to think I had depression, but after a few years of feeling miserable, I simply got over it. At some point you simply have to realize that it gets old & that it's all on you to be happy, so no, don't compare that bs to Tourette's. "Think happy" is exactly the cure for that other depression/anxiety nonsense.

The person who basically said, "Why would you hold stuff when you know you'll throw it?"... that actually makes me more angry than the people saying it's demons or it's fake. Saying it's demons or fake could be simply misguided, ignorant, or extremely literal in their personal faith and belief of those things. But I feel like what the other guy asked is the basic equivalent of, "Why would you try to do anything for yourself? Why would you try to live a normal life?" It's so ableist and infantile. When people need help, there's always someone standing there criticizing that one is using X-diagnosis as an excuse, they say one has to learn to do it themselves. But if one is motivated and able to do for it themselves, even with some difficulties, they still criticize you for even trying.
Do these people realize that just a generation ago, literally when I was a kid in the 80's, at least here in America, they sent people to asylums because they had autism, tourette's, tuberculosis, cerebral palsy, gender dysmorphia, deafness... basically anything they deemed 'weird' and 'disruptive' to general society. It was gross and inhumane, and I'm glad that disgusting part of our history is behind us. We still have a lot of work to do, but people like that one commenter make me so angry because I feel like they'd advocate something like that. As long as they don't have to be confronted by uncomfortable truths of the human condition, they'd be willing to sweep so many lives into the back corners of society. Shameful behavior from, presumably, grown adults.

20:48 "How can you fake something before you know what it is?"
I 100% agree. I've had tics for as long as I can remember, from as far back into my childhood as I can recall, and even before then there are tics that my parents remember me having that I can't even remember. When I was little I didn't know what was wrong with me. My body was doing things that I couldn't control and that hurt me. My parents eventually told me about tics, I wanna say around the age of 5(?) I grew up knowing that I had tics but I didn't think of myself as an outsider or any less than any other normal person. Then...the whole "Tourette's trend" thing happened recently. That was awful. Obviously, as a diagnosed person with Tourette's Syndrome that I've experienced all my life, the problems fakers have caused are so harmful and disrespectful. Then people like me and Evie who actually struggle with the condition, we can be so misunderstood. My heart goes out to Evie
