Wow beautiful paint job. What's the setting on your spray gun for fan partten and material ?

Your paintwork is stunning. Could you tell me how you get such perfect atomisation from your gun? The spray pattern looks perfect and when you spray it goes on super smooth with no orange peel! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

+SIRGAVALOT1 - thanks for the kind words. I have to admit that the camera is very forgiving. Also, when spraying curved surfaces like this little Porsche has, the end result is always a smoother finish than a vehicle with lots of flat surfaces (like a mid-60's Cadillac). Having said that, air volume is critical. Most shops actually starve their paint gun of air and don't even realize it. Having a consistent supply of clean, dry air is the most important component when spraying any high-solids paint with a modern paint gun. The new paint guns use air volume, instead of air pressure, to break up the paint in to the small pieces that float through the air and land on the surface - hopefully as smooth as possible. We use 1" diameter air line from the main trunk line of the shop air all the way to the regulator on the inside of the paint booth wall. Our filtration system (SATA brand) also does not restrict air flow like some other brands can tend to do. Other than that, its years of practice and making mistakes. Thanks again for digging the video. It was a really fun project to paint that little 356.

Thanks for the reply :) Ah I see so it really does make a big difference to have the maximum amount of air volume for atomisation. So when you set your gun up for spraying do you just look at your spray pattern and tune it by eye without setting a specific psi/bar/pound for the viscosity of the material you are spraying or do you spray test patterns onto a sheet? Would love to see more videos from you and maybe you could share some of your wisdom during them to teach some of us amateurs out here :)

I spray on a piece of masking paper on my wall to fine-tune the pattern, before applying anything to the vehicle. Please forgive the delayed response.

Amazing job my friend!Congratulations! Is this a Sata jet 90 or the 3000 ?

I used a Sata 4000 RP 1.2 for that finish. It atomizes well. The curvy nature of that body helps keep the texture from being so obvious. Thanks for the kind words.

For the clear applied in this video, I use a 1.2 tip in the Sata RP 4000 gun.
