It’s insane that it took Keller 8 years to built the bunker and continued to interact with his family every day like everything was normal. 8 freaking years, and he still went through with it. Even if he didn’t kill his family, are people allowed to just go into the forest and build a compound if they don’t own the land directly? Can anyone fill me in on this, I’m genuinely curious in how this works. Are people allowed to do this in public national forests and parks? If it isn’t illegal I’m shocked more people don’t do it.
people do it all the time here. you'll come across little poorly built forts that someone psychopathic survivalist thought was a good idea, but obviously couldn't stand to live in. Summers are short here and thank god there's 6 feet of snow and rain all winter or they would be full time residents. Forest service doesn't have the staff or guns to rout them all. but if enough of the land is trashed by 'camping" they will block the area so you can't drive close to it. Most of these jerks are lazy and not as ambitious as this ______ was.

Why would aliens need to do experimental research on humans if they created our species? 😂

Yes, I too saw another video about this. I also much prefer Dr. Grande’s Version. I love his objectivity and work ethic. Dr. Grande your research abilities and consistent quality analysis are impressive. Huge Fan Of Yours.😇.
Here’s my theory, just an opinion: Peter as a child fantasized about building a forest fort in which he could be safe- possibly to avoid terrible childhood abuse, something he also alluded to. I suppose the thing(s) that happened to him completely broke him and that broken thing lived in him, stunting his ability to develop normally and achieving empathy. His broken mindset prompted him, as he approached 40, to return to the only thing that ever made sense to him. Something which he obsessed over as a helpless child living in constant danger, and never receiving empathy himself. His psyche was so damaged, that he never could rise above it, but instead he relied on maintaining a facade of normalcy which his personality created for him to survive in the world. Survive he did, but always as a sad empty shell with a broken child inside. When midlife approached he realized he could no longer continue and as he put it “could no longer fight it” and decided to do the only thing that made sense to him. He was so empty and dead it cannot be termed narcissistic, because narcissism is a form of self-preservation. He did not feel one iota of self-entitlement, because he despised himself and gave into it. He thought carefully and long about what to do with his loved ones and killed them as painlessly as possible. Perhaps he thought it was merciful. He took good care of them and couldn’t conceive of them continuing happily without him. His world view was such that they too were just hapless victims of being alive, as he was… they just didn’t know it, as he did. His self-recordings and his joyless nihilism are poignant and disturbing. I don’t think he fits the description of “prepper”. It’s a testament to how someone can be so broken on the inside while growing up that the inner resources required to grow mentally are irreparable. I wish someone would delve into his past. It’s a fascinating look at human nature. I feel that Dr. Grande didn’t do this story justice.
He was having delusions and was psychotic. A person who is psychotic has lost touch with reality. He thought he was doing his family a favor and so he wouldn’t have to worry about them because he was the one who was providing for the family. This is not uncommon in murder suicides. Keller was delusional and wanted to live in an underground bunker since he was a teenager. I actually watched the entire video made by Keller. It’s pretty chilling. He had to work up the idea of “accepting what needed to be done.”
Also, he wasn't even a "prepper" at all. Preppers are preparing to survive a total breakdown of society. This guy just had a teenage fantasy of living in the woods and had no interest in survival.
That bunker is very intriguing. It is interesting hearing what type of mindset preppers are most disposed to maintain. The prepper culture is very interesting, I am curious of what areas it is most prevalent.
Seems like he was prepping for absolutely nothing. Years of stocking supplies, food and building that bunker for what? All he accomplished was becoming a murderer, having the bunker found by authorities and killing himself. His efforts were all a waste of time. He couldn't even dispose of his plans in a most basic way. R.I.P. to his poor wife and daughter. They deserved better than him.
Not to make this video about me BUT this is the first time one of the stories shares my name ;) Thank you Dr. Grande for sharing insight into how some preppers have extreme ways of thinking. Living in the south I come across this mindset fairly often and it is a bit unsettling to say the least. Stockpiling weapons and food is to be admired by many here.
I would add that, possibly, he did realize both that bringing them to his goblin fort would either mean he had to triple his stores, and/or that they would demand something less primitive and not so filthy.
What a selfish man without a conscience who was devoid of love and natural affection! He was a lazy man who no longer wanted to work. If he wanted to leave his family and live in the bunker on his own, why didn't he? He didn't have to kill his wife and daughter to do it. 🧚
I’ve watched a few vids on this guy but I missed some of the new info I heard here (like that he started construction of the bunker in 2004). It was certainly disturbing to see him apparently talk himself into killing his wife and daughter before reaching that stage of acceptance. I wondered why he didn’t just disappear, leave them behind, but if they knew as much as you mentioned here, there was no way he would let them risk his future, so now that makes sense too.
I don’t think he cared about himself or his future. He gave into nihilism, despised himself, and thought his wife and daughter were hapless victims of being alive, as he was… they just didn’t realize it, as he did. He killed them mercifully (in his mind). His childhood fantasy of building a forest fort speaks of trying to get away from horriffic child abuse, something he alluded to. As he approached middle age he knew the only thing that would make him feel “alive” albeit temporarily, was to go back to that childhood impulse and build a bunker where he could feel safe. My theory, just an opinion.
The alliteration at the end was impressive! The page "explore with us" shows a lot of the video footage for this case. You can see the cold and calculated nature of Peter. He was so matter of fact about "what he had to do". There is also video footage of his wife talking about how great he is, and his daughter filming him and laughing with him. Absolutely heartbreaking this one.

416 views 7 min. following release. It's because us hard-core fans are ready when the new upload appears! Thank you Dr Grande 😊
I saw a video about this. I’m glad you covered it. I was curious as to what was wrong with him. One thing that I wondered about was did he kill his family to protect them in some morbid way? He could have just divorced and gone off the grid. Scary.
Peter Prepper packed a pantry pit for peril. Paranoid Peter pumped his partner and his progeny. Peter Prepper's prison portion was predicted but for a pistol.
monorail!
That’s easy for you yo say buddy
😂
WHAT? Nothing about how Peter Prepper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Oh, but I do love those alliterations you do Doc. You're a treasure. ❤ Merry Christmas to you your family and your lovely pooch too.
oh my thoughts exactly!!
He was upset that it was he that was falling apart instead of the society and government around him.
Exactly. An unstable, unhappy loser who had to blame all his failings on somebody else. Namely wife and child. An obsessive, homicidal narcissist. RIP to wife, daughter and dog.
Yes.

I applaud your plosively punctuated postscript, and I am persuaded to pronounce that it is perfect.
You are extremely intelligent Dr Grande. Very informative and educational. Thank you so much. Loved the "P's" game in this narration too.
Not sure why we're even calling this guy a prepper. He did the same things as a prepper but the motivation behind it is completely different
Although he was indeed “preparing for the end of the world”, it didn’t seem like he thought the outside world was going to end, more like he knew he was terribly depressed and his own “inner world” was coming to an end. It’s strange to me how a lot of these suicide types feel they need to kill their whole family in attempt to save them from suffering in a life without them. The human mind works in terrible and mysterious ways…
It’s insane that it took Keller 8 years to built the bunker and continued to interact with his family every day like everything was normal. 8 freaking years, and he still went through with it. What did his family have to do with causing his mental problems? Why did his family have to die for him to move into the woods? He never explains anything in his videos about why.
Thank you for all your hard work! 🙏
Are there more family annihilators than there used to be, or are we talking about them more?
During covid lockdowns I know family murders went up. Not sure if it tapered off, or it's still higher than before.
Good question.🤔
The ability for women to divorce their husbands has probably contributed somewhat
Fragile male egos afraid of losing power

Wow all the words starting with P at the end... very impressive Dr. Grande 👏 👏
that "Peter Piper" reference though. i appreciate your humor doc.
How bizarre and sad.
My dad lives in north bend Washington. I lived there for a few months at the end of 2003, and have lived about 2 hours away since then. I'm surprised I've never heard of this.
The preponderance of the letter P caused quite a bit of perspiring on my part. Thanx Doc.
Dr Grande, such a penchant for word play!
This guy didn't deserve what he had.
Returning to watch this analysis again.
Thank you Dr. Grande 🙏

No good ever comes out of building underground bunkers. Put your energy into enjoying your life, buy a boat and go fishing instead. Great calmness comes from being by the sea⛵🌊.
@@datbat1 I'd rather not be his 'passenger', especially a dark one.
This guy was a piece of work. Apparently, he was mad at his wife for not contributing to the household income and he grew to hate her. His daughter probably was just collateral damage. EWU has a cool video dissecting his video diaries.
Out in the Woods behaving like a Manchild.

Wonderful alliteration, Dr. Grande!!
Neighbors: “He seemed like such a normal guy.”
You can't do this legally.
People are allowed on state land and national, however it is illegal to leave property, divert water using piping, cut down trees. Etc
No, it's not at all legal. I suspect that he would also have murdered any hiker who happened upon his secret bunker.
I don't think he was particularly concerned about legalities of things.
people do it all the time here. you'll come across little poorly built forts that someone psychopathic survivalist thought was a good idea, but obviously couldn't stand to live in.
Fantastic alliterations - palpable panic of pending peril.. perceived his purpose as a prepper. Great work!
I know a couple of preppers. They also think (for example) Britney Spears online is an actor and so is Joe Biden.
I told them, "ok, I can get that, but why and why would they make them crazy and senile if they're actors?" Never really got an answer that makes sense.
Conspiracy theorists will or want to believe anything except the most logical answers. I know a few (some of their theories are absurd and offensive), but one of my favorite is that human species were created by aliens to mine gold years ago. However they also claim aliens visit earth, abduct humans, and perform experiments on us to learn about humans. Why would aliens need to do experimental research on humans if they created our species? 😂
Your conflating a prepper with a conspiracy theorist…. But Brittany was a child star who got used and abused by elitist p*dos while Joe is a career political puppet elected by rigged elections
@@NealBurkard-ut1ooThat is preposterous. We are put here to mine uranium, not gold.
I've never met a prepper that wasn't "off."
@@NealBurkard-ut1oo Yes, I have a friend who has watched every "Ancient Aliens" episode and believes all of it. He has even told me how the aliens needed Earth's gold and changed early man to make them mine it. It's crazy, and I just smile and nod.
The dude's brain was rattled. Learning from my grandparents, I've always made sure we have extra in case one loses their job, gets sick....earthquake, tsunami, etc. I'm not doing the whole bunker thing. Above all, I want to provide for and protect my family. There's no way in heck I'd kill them! I'm sitting here shaking my head. This dude had some real serious issues. On top of that, he had some beans and a way to make wine? He wasn't a good prepper. Nope.
Dr grande definitely watches explore with us, I only just watched them cover this story last week.
When would he even have time, dude drops a video every day, sometimes 2!
Such an excellent mini-documentary.
Loved the last few paragraphs and the prominent use of the letter P. Purposely perhaps?
Guy spends 8 years building a "survival" bunker, then commits suicide in it.
8 years
It's clear that he was a fkin loser.
I can remember there was a guy named Adolph that did that in a bunker...
@@duanecarroll8255
To be fair, the amount of personal effort for that was minimal and he didn't think he'd have to use it anyway, because... Well, obviously he was winning the war. His tanks were better. His planes were better. His generals were better. What could possibly go wrong?
@@duanecarroll8255It took this nutjob longer to build the bunker than the so-called thousand year Reich lasted after invading Poland
He killed the dog?! What a monster!
Great case analysis and hiking trail recommend all in one video! Thanks Dr. Grande!
Savage use of alliteration towards the end 😆
Dr. Grande's alliteration at the end was impressive. I bet he had fun writing that.
36. There were 36 in the summary
I would bet that he did DV against his wife. Just because she was sweet to him in a recorded video, doesn’t mean he wasn’t abusing her. Sometimes a woman will say good things about an abuser to keep the peace. He put himself and his wishes ahead of his family by building this bunker. He could have done many things for his family with all that money and time.
I agree. There’s little hints in the things she says in some of the video clips. Like being afraid to wake him up in one. Very subtle.
Always best to go with "feeling's" Deb. How are your Cats?
@@AnthonyOMulligan-yv9cg oh brutal. Unfortunately when the Drs told me that I would be dead in about three months I rehomed my kitties. It was part of my trying to put things in order so my 82 year old mother wouldn’t have to. Sold my house, car etc. I grieve for my kitties most of all. I think of them everyday even after 18 months. I worry that they are okay. I am in remission and doing great but still grieving for my babies that I bottle fed. I have no way to check on them as they were adopted by a friend of a former friend. So that’s how the cats are. I live across country now, but I still have my doggo because he was earmarked to go to my mom so there is that and he’s doing great. See how your offhanded remark led to a long story.
I was feeling so bad about his wife and daughter . It's so sad and heartbreaking. 😔
Then the way you ended it had me laughing out loud! I couldn't say what you said if you paid me ! 🤣
Not a prepper, He was a survivalist .
There’s a lot of overlap.
Nah, this was like a villain bunker. This dude is like a scary movie character.
there are some other terms which also seem to apply to peter.
Yes, I too saw another video about this. I also much prefer Dr. Grande’s Version. I love his objectivity and work ethic. Dr. Grande your research abilities and consistent quality analysis are impressive. Huge Fan Of Yours.😇.
Hi Dr. Grande, your many Video Contents are Excellent, but your Tongue-Twisters are Brilliant! 🤣
Perfectly prepared precise presentation.
Here’s my theory, just an opinion:
Peter as a child fantasized about building a forest fort in which he could be safe- possibly to avoid terrible childhood abuse, something he also alluded to.
Grande didn’t do this story justice.
omg i know i should not laugh but Dr. Grande's final thoughts were hilarious! 😂
When mid life crisis’ go beyond buying a sports car and having an affair
Well, you told us who he was, but why he murdered his wife, daughter, then himself is unexplained. Being a prepper isn't really a motive.
He was probably afraid his family would become "Zombified" during the Apocalypse?. These preppers think in "Absolutes"
All preppers are delusional. I wouldn't trust any of them.
@@byronfoppola8676 What?.....don't you know that the Zombies are coming!
That bunker is very intriguing.
It is interesting hearing what type of mindset preppers are most disposed to maintain.
The prepper culture is very interesting, I am curious of what areas it is most prevalent.
"Keller" is the German word for "basement", how suited.
Not to make this video about me BUT this is the first time one of the stories shares my name ;)
Thank you Dr. Grande for sharing insight into how some preppers have extreme ways of thinking. Living in the south I come across this mindset fairly often and it is a bit unsettling to say the least. Stockpiling weapons and food is to be admired by many here.
Can't wait to see the video he'll make about Bad Surgeon: Dr. Paolo Macchiarini
I would add that, possibly, he did realize both that bringing them to his goblin fort would either mean he had to triple his stores, and/or that they would demand something less primitive and not so filthy.
15:19 amazing job on the Peter piper…!! 😂😂
That may have been the most extended use of alteration I've ever heard. Very nice.
What a selfish man without a conscience who was devoid of love and natural affection! He was a lazy man who no longer wanted to work. If he wanted to leave his family and live in the bunker on his own, why didn't he? He didn't have to kill his wife and daughter to do it. 🧚
Isn't ironic how he was so obsessed with his own survival while not caring about anyone else's.
You forgot one movie that the group motivated by fear probably connect to... The Road. One of the most terrifying movies I have ever seen.
reading that book was a miserable experience.
The ending was great, your awesome doc. Ahahahaha ❤❤❤

Aaahhhh the good old rhymes at the end again....👍🤗😊
"good lord honey!" - Reba Macintyre, as Bert Gummers wife. Movie: Tremors
I love the ending analysis!
That closing statement was poetically filled with "p" words
Great poetic end Mr grande... 👀👍
I was waiting for you analysis on this case thank you Dr grande !!
