- Fun fact about SCP-001: No one actually knows what it is. There are many renditions, supposedly all fakes to hide the nature of the true SCP. In this particular case, our fake SCP-001 uses the sun's radiation to turn everyone into sentient goo. Fun, huh?

Not sure why but this scenario terrifies me. Learned about it and for MONTHS I would remember it existed and would try walking in shadows. I’m not as paranoid now but every once in a while I’ll avoid the sun when walking outside, even though I know I have nothing to worry about.

I hope you know that “when day breaks” is just one of several possible SCP-001 files.
A lot of them are supposed to be like the first discovered SCP or the SCP responsible for the existence of all the others.
My personal favourite is the small device that expands the inside any container it’s placed in, and the ever increasing space starts forming irregularities or anomalies if you will.
Long story short it’s doing the same to the entire universe, creating an endless stream of anomalous universes, such as one where Las Vegas is made of pizza or something along those lines. And all the other SCP’s are the anomalies created by the device when copying the universe, or at least that’s my interpretation

Some info for you, Pravus.
There is no Canonical SCP-001.
There are close to 20 proposals for what SCP-001 is. When Day Breaks is one of the more popular proposals.
Plague inc. isn't that good of a representation of WDB because that it doesn't kill people and it happens all at once. It isn't heat that causes this goop, it is just an anomolous event that can't be explained.
The SCP Wiki is weird. Nothing is truly Canonical other than its existance. Everyone gets to create their own headcanon based off of the information in the wiki.
With that out of the way, it is a possible version of SCP - 001. Whether 001 started the foundation, or is a designation given to the most dangerous SCP is for you to decide. The author of When Day Breaks chose the latter.
When Day Breaks, or SCP - 001 is the designation given to the Sun after an anomolous event wherein any contact with the Sun's UV rays causes the living organism to turn into goop. They still retain their memories and personality. They are then urged to merge into larger goop piles.
That's basically it. If you want more, you can go to the SCP Wiki and start reading.
To me SCP-001 is kinda like SCP-610 but SCP-001 is Apollyon (idk how to spell)

This is insanely thought out. I was thinking the people were just mostly dying off initially because, either most people couldn't take to the infection (heart attacks, accidents, fires, etc., died in battle (likely nuclear detonations in initial urban areas) or simply died of heatstroke in the hottest area seeing that's where it began.
