- SCP 001 is an Apollyon Class anomaly also known as When Day Breaks.
SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun, after an event occurred that resulted in roughly 6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours. Upon contact with visible light produced by SCP 001, living organisms liquefy at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted into a form resembling melted wax. Organisms exposed to SCP001 though, do not perish.

@@nickmumpfield5319 I think it's implied that while the GOC is one of the most powerful GoI's in lore, its resources pale in comparison to the Foundation (in fact their policies make a lot more sense when you realize that they can't just contain things like the Foundation does and have to either let entities harm the public or destroy them). My guess would be that the majority of the GOC would be destroyed when day initially broke and while some facilities may still exist they wouldn't be organized; some would probably help the Foundation in any way they could, some might blame them and become hostile towards the Foundation, and some would just try to wait it out and hope they get contacted by surviving higher-ups to receive instructions.
At least i'm not alone to laugh about 😂
@@RRW359The GOC has more access to more anomalous and thaumaturgic items for defence and warfare than the foundation, as well as having many bunkers with nigh infinite power and supplies in most canons, so I would say the GOC would be standing a decent chance against the sun.

A nuclear winter would actually be a blessing in this situation because sunlight wouldn’t be able to reach the planet, as long as you can prepare for the radiation. After that all it would take is gasoline, flamethrowers, molotovs or anything that could spew fire to get rid of the monsters

You can take SCP-107, pour water into it, it will create a cloud, you will get in the car and go where you need to go. And the cloud will move after you, as SCP-107 will also be in the car. As a result, the cloud will cover you from the sun for as long as you need, since you can simply collect rainwater in a glass and pour it into the shell.
SCP: 3008 would be the perfect place to hide. Infinite food and supplies, a very slim chance you find the exit, and the employees would be a walk in the park compared to the flesh monsters.

The ikea staff will rip you to shreds if they find you, the liquefaction process of the sun will take its sweet sweet time
don't forget that the employees will also attack the flesh piles, so they can act as a natural defense against the piles while the piles keep the employees occupied, making survival easier in general.

I have been wondering- since "When Day Breaks" is caused by Sun's light, and light travels across the space, does that mean that eventually, all of space will be affected by SCP-001? Kind of scary, if you think about it
Not all of space, since light only travels so far. And the light cant go to places where the path of light has been obstructed by asteroids, planets, moons, etc.

Well yes it has to be a Moonless night also its much easier to protect from the Moonlight since its reflection is much weaker than sunlight

It's curious how in other cases of When Day Breaks, it's said that night is safe to walk around, but in this case it's pretty much the same as day so it explains when it's said that in the first (day/hour?) 6.8 Billion people are affected by it.

This is cool! I love how you guys talk about the different anomalous groups and what they do during "When Day Breaks". I also like how planes are mentioned. (Kind of sad how some survivors die due to the planes crashing down on the buildings though)
Although these stories about "When Day Breaks" are really interesting, I think that you guys should also make more videos on less known SCPs. So far, the newest SCP (SCP-7000) hasn't got many videos covering it yet. I think you guys should definitely cover it! If there isn't much to talk about some of these less known SCPs, you can fit a number of them into one video, that way maybe it might interest more people.

When day breaks is by far my favorite SCP Imagine waking up one morning To Absolute chaos without knowing until its too late
Believe it or not I'm actually safe from that actually I have black light cancelling curtains on my windows block out all sunlight and moonlight so I would be safe for a while Plies I can just shut my door and hope for the best
What's scary is that the only way to find out what's going on is to look out the window before melting away.

Imagine being in the building a plain crashes into and the building actually manages to hold. You survived all of that, and were fortunate enough to have had a well sealed room when it comes to sunlight sneaking in. You work a night shift and sleep a lot during the day. Some might say more than you should. You awaken, no nothing of your luck, and you look up to find the roof that once shielded you from the sun is gone. You feel yourself begin to melt, and as you let out a scream, you have no way of ever being aware of just how lucky you almost were.
Considering how much sunlight is needed to be exposed on you for you to melt, it could take a while to seconds, so you might not even get the chance to scream in some scenarios let alone even realize what happened to you

Easy they want to pull you in because its such a beautiful sunny day, a shame to stay inside. Also it will be boring video they do nothing until they coagulate and start hunting surviving people so they all can play in the sun
Apparently, they're happy about what happened to them, and aren't in any pain. As for why they drag people into the light, my interpretation is that the flesh monsters think they're saving them. If they retain their memories, they probably remember being terrified, but after transforming, all their fear faded. They probably think they're helping the remaining survivors, but know they won't come outside of their own free will. So they first try speaking to them, trying to convince them to join them outside, reassuring them that they won't suffer anymore. If that doesn't work, they force their way in.
001-A: “Come outside! It’s so lovely outside.”
Me:” I hate the outdoors and I sure as hell never liked you. Why should I?”
This would be the most depressing movie lol. If the moonlight becomes harmful then there really is a null chance of surviving. Sometimes surviving isn't the best option I guess.

If the reflected sunlight also carries the effects, then most indoors are not safe since they are still illuminated by scattered and reflected sunlight. So I assume if you wrap yourself in aluminum that is tight enough to not let sunlight hit you directly you actually are safe from the effects.

I've never been this early, but I love this channel and all the scp stories
Id imagine the only way to beat when day breaks is by having a full body armor that covers every inch and has multiple layers of protection and a camera view instead of anything else and a freeze ray to freeze the monsters and some thaumathergical runes as reinforcement for the armor and to keep the wearers body in top state
The sad reality is you can't kill yourself to escape because it'll drag your body into the light and you're resurrected into the blob anyway way to kill yourself successfully in to destroy your entire body into Ash a cremation for example or being buried under the ground with no food or water
