What a classic! The Eagles were a staple of California music for a long time. As I understand it, they are still performing today!
Fantastic song because it can mean so many things. Religion (the mission bell), musing on California, Hollywood or just the American Dream. Those lyrics are like poetry.
I thought it was about prostitutes that stay at the hotel haha
@@Joeythejew Lol. It's open to interpretation. Everybody will take different things from it because it's so enigmatic. It does say, "Pretty, pretty boys she calls friends"...so maybe! It's not what I took from it, but perhaps! ::D
I love imagining that the hotel is a interdimensional entity that appears and disappears when it wants in the desert and that it has people from different time periods that live inside it against their will , the hotel uses these people for it's own bidding (specifically to try to keep new people from leaving usually by force),the hotel slowly feeds on the life force of whoever is inside it it uses their life force to fix itself if the hotel gets damaged/ ages , the life force is also used to keep the hotel looking new. The protagonist of the song manages to escape the hotel only for him to be compelled by the Eldritch hotel to come back . The protagonist does not want to but the hotels call gets stronger every time he dreams about it
As a hedonistic artist who lived in southern California in the '60s and '70s, I interpret this song very differently. SoCal was a beautiful, very fun, venus fly trap. I'm so glad i lived there, and I'm equally glad that I left.
It’s just about drugs
have lived in California few years, LA, ..any hedonic place or things spoil you and gotton fed by force itself..
Historical success song
Yes indeed
Most iconic drug song of all time isvabout Heroin Addiction.
I've always associated it with the Manson Murders
Hi, here's my bit. I was really young listening to this is in 90s as a kid and no one liked this music they were listening to new music. My sister got me this tape.
They don't know what real music is,, we do my friend

Hypothesis: Maybe a famous song about torture-like cults or a parable about deadly and dangerous psychiatry: You can always check out, but you can never leave!!!
Two violently whining and at times loudly howling guitars compete with each other in the song and then torment each other in a duet towards the end of the piece. A real masterpiece.
brfill song one of many fav of first eagle was big fan for this song blew me
Love it 😍😍😍🗽

This came out 2 years before I was born. But I'll take this over anything
Shoulda heard it before the remaster fucked it up in 2013

Reminds me of that one courage the cowardly dog episode. Katz Motel
Interesting
THE SONG IS TRUE LIFE!! ONCE YOU GO THERE OR A DIFFERENT PLACE THE SAME THINGS HAPPEN VERY EVIL AND DEMONIC!! TRUE YOU CAN CHECK OUT BUT NEVER LEAVING MEANS WHAT YOU SEEN AND HEARD MUST NEVER BE TOLD!! IF SO YOU WILL LEAVE BY DYING. OR END UP IN A MENTAL WARD BECAUSE TRYING TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED PEOPLE WILL CALL YOU NUTS. THATS HAPPENED TO MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE.

Nmm😊
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
Head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
"This could be heaven or this could be hell"
Then she lit up a candle
She showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
Thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely face
There's plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year), oh, you can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany twisted
She got the Mercedes Benz, uh
She got a lot of pretty-pretty boys
Who she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget
So I called up the captain
Please bring me my wine, he said
"We haven't had that spirit here since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely face
We're living it up at the Hotel California
Oh, what a nice surprise (what a nice surprise), bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
With pink champagne on ice, and she said
"We are all just prisoners here of our own device"
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
Stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
Had to find the passage back to the place I was before
"Relax", said the night man
"We are programmed to receive"
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave

Motel Joseph Biden
.
At 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,
there stands a big white house
where resides a paper lion,
roaring like an impotent mouse
looking across at the sweet rose garden,
you can see the phallus monument
in a broken-down city where
a lot of money seems to get misspent
He sits in his round office
waiting to ride on Air Force One
or take a quick trip on his bicycle
to make some shady deal with his son
he’ll look down the barrel of a camera
and stare you straight in the face
reciting word salad rhetoric in circles
while he stares absent-minded into space
.
Welcome to the Motel Joseph Biden
Where the eagle hides its face (hides its face)
Such a sad disgrace
There’s a sense of doom at the Motel Joseph Biden
whatever your fear (whatever your fear)
you can find your share
.
His mind has left the building,
he got a bulletproof limousine
some feel he’s just a marionette for
the corrupt political machine
He finances his family’s ambitions,
with the taxpayers’ sweat
Looking for him to be presidential,
but it hasn’t happened yet
When I called up my Senator
the receptionist said, “Please hold the line.”
I really wanted to tell her I haven’t been this disgusted
since they forced Tricky Dick to resign
I hear spliced political voices
on a hidden reel to reel,
someone wake up Woodward and Bernstein;
we need their balls of steel
.
Welcome to the Motel Joseph Biden
Where the eagle hides its face (hides its face)
Such a sad disgrace
Too much corruption at the Motel Joseph Biden
pulling wool over our eyes (he’s telling lies)
that’s no surprise
.
Lobbyists within his earshot
all of them with their money to burn
and he’ll listen to their bribes and offers
trading our liberties in return
In the despair of the inner cities
along the panhandle and the bible belt
working folks haven’t felt this discouraged
since the days of Franklin Roosevelt
So while I wait for a future election
I’ll be praying that they keep him outta sight
maybe lock him up in the basement
or hang with Corn Pop by a pool tonight
Perhaps in the not too distant future
the American dream will become fully restored
and life will regain some sense of lucidity
resembling something that we could once afford
