I have to tell you, I was so happy to see that you left your mistakes in the video!!! I consider you a professional. The fact that you too, make mistakes, is so refreshing. I really made mistakes on a market bag I sewed yesterday, and was so frustrated! I was telling myself "Christine would never have done that!" But this morning I was watching this video and was so shocked when you screwed up on the corners! Ive been sewing for 50+ years. I guess I'm allowed to still make mistakes!! Thank you SO much for your channel! I count you a friend. ❤
haha, that's so lovely Lisa. I make mistakes in almost every project, and even though I've been sewing just as long, I would never consider myself a professional. There's still so much to learn, and although it's frustrating, mistakes are the best teacher you could have. It's funny, I used to think it was unprofessional to have mistakes in my videos so wouldn't include them. Once I discovered people like them, I tend to leave more in. I'm just a middle aged gal that sews😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairsleaving them in makes it easier for us, we can avoid the same ones since we know what to look for. And it makes it more interesting and relatable. Happy New Year!
Christine I want to thank you so much for doing what you do and how you do them. I don’t have a store or design studio as so many of u tubers do. I do this for fun and because I love doing it. I am disabled and stay at home all the time so this makes time go by and makes me happy. Most of all thank you for sharing your designs and not charging for the patterns. Bag making and crafting isn’t cheap. The bags that are made by a lot of the bag makers are beautiful but even the hardware they use is expensive. Love you channel and enjoy watching you so much. Can’t wait to try this project.
Great bag I use this method for using scraps alot . For handles I often sew a handle in cotton and thread the wrapping handle inside - that way get strength of strapping but colour of bag. I have both black and white strapping depending on colour of fabric using. Also love this method too
I think it's great. I've done this myself. I've sold many bags/totes made like this. I did, however, mark a 45° angle on my stabilizer. I tried without and my strips started to straighten themselves 😅. I've had other bags more organized and took forever to sell. You just never know. I've done this type of construction for children's car totes. Pockets for crayons, room for things to do in the car. They can hang over the front headrest for easy reach. Your bag was so adorable. Your label looks like pretty baubles, bag hardware pretties. ❤😊
Lovely technique using up strips of fabric. I have have lots of those lol. Maybe I will give it a go soon but I’ve got to make some seat covers for my dining room chairs next. 👍.
I LOVE this bag. Love the colours and using stips to create the fabric for this project. I look forward to the curved cornered tote bag. Happy New Year to you and your family Christine ❤🎉🎉🎉🍾🥂🍾🥂
I have so many scraps - this is a great idea. I may cheat though and round the corners to speed up the process. I hope to make a substantial number of them to donate to kids at a very low income school
Absolutely love this little bag. I’ve been collecting all my selvage edge scraps and will have a go at using them in my bag. Can’t wait to get started. Thank you Christine for another fantastic tutorial.❤️
Hi Christine. What a cute bag. I'm thinking I had better get making one for my grand daughter. I made her a doggy walking bag ready for when next yrs dog shows start. And if she does as well as she did at last dog show ,the around body strap was perfect for all of her rosettes she and dog won x
Thanks Christine, on Christmas day we had an enormous storm that through the power out and so it's been since then I just managed to get my phone half charged. It is 10.30 pm and of course in the middle of a heat wave 29* still. We had to throw all our food in the fridge and freezer that had gone off. Yesterday we had scotch finger biscuits for breakfast with water. From we hear the power might be restored on Sunday. Sew ive be sewing hexagons. 38:22 You've perked.my day off
That's awful Janet. We had storms too, but still had power and a roof. It's terrible the devastation up there. I'm so glad you can still do the hexies. I go stir crazy when the power is out for half a day. I hope you get your power and regular life back very soon😊
Christine. Once again it's 'catch-up' time for me. Leading up to Xmas I was sewing lots of strips onto foundation fabric then cutting it up into different items (phone bags, xmas stockings, coasters, tote bag etc) so I've missed out on quite a few video's including yours. I could see what you intended to do with your curved seams but I think it worked out better with boxed corners when using strips; not so bulky. Hope all is well with you and you have a busy New Year 2024 in your shop 🥰
Was not sure how this bag was going to turn out as i am not one that likes the “homemade” look. This handmade bag looks very professional made out of scraps! Christine, you made this bag rise to a different level!! Love it so much! ❤
This is such a pretty purse! I love the design you made with the strips of fabric. Nobody would ever think you made it with scraps of fabric some people might throw away. It is simply lovely. How much more work would it be to put a zipper in the top instead of the magnetic snap? I love your metal label. If I can figure out how you ordered it, I think I will try to order some for myself. Thank you so much Christine for this video. I could watch your videos all day!👍
Thank you Lila. Once you've turned all the scraps into a useable piece of fabric, you can use any bag or pouch design with a zipper in it. I get the metal tags from Alibaba. There's a direct link to my supplier in the video description😀
Beautiful! I have used this technique to practice quilting, sewing additional sewing perpendicular to your top stitching. I have only made small things, a folding napkin holder, a tissue box holder... I do look forward to making a bigger bag, thank you so much!
another fun fabric use. I do enjoy using strips for 'making my own fabric', and the bag is definitely something I would use. The size is perfect for going about town. Hi Crafty Owl. I've just checked the link which is for Matilda's Own bagbatting (even though I keep calling it Peltex). It does actually say it's non fusible in the title on my website. If you're ordering it from there, you'll only receive the non fusible as they don't make a fusible. I used to keep Peltex which was iron-on but I haven't been able to source it for a while😀
