    My grandma hated when I'd buy canned beans LOL she called me vaga. I make beans from scratch (bagged) but these canned beans come in handy when I'm in a rush.

    I just wish that before putting the beans you put the chopped onion, pepper, sopita etc. On the hot oil. That gives such a flavor to the food being cooked. Then place the can of beans.. even though my grandma always uses dry pinto beans. But everyone has different ways of making food. Overall, I just hope it tastes good!

    Yes, I always prefer fresh anything over canned foods.
    In my search for Dominican-style beans here on TH-cam, all I could find were people offering recipes with CANNED beans. The ranchero sauce thing on here also threw me for a loop. I guess LaMorena is using shortcut methods for her Dominican recipes.
    Thanks for the tips, Ricardo. Hopefully, I can duplicate the wonderful taste of those authentic Dominican beans I ate while visiting the island.

    I loved habichuela Dominicana since I first tasted it last year in the DR. I am gonna try it today: I got some red beans - the dry ones which I am going to boil -no ranchero -I will do without it, and going to use fresh garlic. Si tengo exito, te quiero por otras recetas.
    I also loved your accent and the elan with which you made the video...not knowing how to pronounce "bouillon" (broth in French), forgetting to remove the pepper - made it real unlike a TV cooking show. Thanks much!

    Dominicans don't use to cook can beans we like better dry beans u just need a pressure cooker

    • @heartsfor_soonii
      @heartsfor_soonii 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not true. My mom taught us how to cook both beans. In a pot. Not a pressure cooker. Canned beans are not bad at all. Dry beans are more time consuming.

    • @ebonymedrano
      @ebonymedrano 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      AlyRoux lo voy a decir en español: los Dominicanos nacidos y criados en Republica Dominicana no solemos cocinar habichuelas de latas, ni guandules de lata nosotros haya en RD preferimos consumir lor alimentos frescos y y no e dicho que las habichuelas de latas no son buenas, pero preferimos comer algo natural a habichuelas de lata llenas de preserbativos y sodium. Por eso es que la gente aqui en USA esta tan gorda.

    • @ebonymedrano
      @ebonymedrano 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maria Medrano people in DR have all the time to cook in pressure cooker,with no stress but here because of the diferent life style we wanna make everything more easier that's why we have canned beans

    Deben de tener buen sabor me imagino . PERO esto metodo de preparer es al reves porque primero se cocina el sazon y luego las habichuelas.

  • @ricardo950535
    @ricardo950535 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    stick with fresh beans. much much better. and if u cook spanish food, make your own sofritos as well. forget that ranchero nasty cr*p. and true dominican beans have plantains to thicken them, up..
    -soak beans overnite, dump water then throw a whole onion and boil for 1 hr simmering. once almost tender they're ready.. this mixture u can store in the freezer and use when u need to cook beans. they taste much better and you get the full benefit if the actual bean .

  • @dmarie1330
    @dmarie1330 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok let me clear something up.. For those of you who dont know what habichuelas taste like visit a dominican place and try their beans. These beans taste exactly like them except with a strong flavor which is the point.. El sabor dominicano . Everyone has variations of recipes for every country but its the same foods.. As far as using non canned beans its a matter of preference. If using dry beans and adding hardly anything the flavor is disgusting. Cook wise when u add an ingredient like garlic to oil the garlic is suppose to be added to cold oil and heated together that is how a flavor infuses so doing everything together infuses the same amount of flavor if not better because the bean juice absorbs the flavor from the beggining till end. If u do it the She does it exactly as described its fucking good :)
