Well here is some who is showing me this without the long talk and time wasting; yes, unlike many of those who uses less ingredients and take up more of your time. Thank You!
I’m from PR and I was looking for habichuelas guisada recipe for my IP and came across yours . Thank you for posting this . It was exactly what I was looking for 🌸
made it for my bf who lived with a dominican family for many years, and it was a hit! the sweet potatoes are a great addition! thanks for making it easy. I can't do recipes out of a book even if that book hit me LOL
Wow can't wait to make this Thank You for doing English / Spanish version. so I'm glad I found your page Dominican food is so delicious I appreciate other cultures and love letting my children try it.
Chef Zee Cooks : So I made it today and it turned out fantastic! My husband and son ate 2 bowls with rice and grilled steak. Thanks so much😋 Going to make more Sunday.
Thanks for this recipe I love the authenticity of your cooking! I learned by watching my mother cook and these are the same steps she used to make beans. I hate the canned beans because they aren’t tender. You got yourself a new subscriber!
I saw a comment stating how you taught her how to cook in her teens and this resonated totally! You taught me how to cook for my family . Coming from a Dominican family with aunties and granny’s that have cooking down a T and not being able to get it for myself was such a blow because our culture food is soul food to me and once I found you it’s been a turning point. Thank you sooooo much. Oh and I grew up in the same neighborhood as you! Corona (National street) ;) peace and blessings .
Please do a video with your grocery store shopping list ! I dont mind food shopping but when I do I feel like I freeze and don’t really know the basics to have in my kitchen (seasonings etc) 😩
I love the channel you are the best I just get subscribe a week ago and I really enjoying all the secrets about our delicious dominican food, thanks for your effort and dedication.
Dominican beans..have always intimidated me...but i will try with your recipe.. Ps: i know with your help..i will make good beans.....thanks in advance Chef Zee... I love the way your kitchen looks.very 😎
Hola Hermana ! Thanks for recipe Do you think it’ll come out ok if I soak beans over night and throw in crock pot with all ingredients thrown in at one time Thx igualmente
My daughter is a vegetarian can I use vegetable powder instead of the chicken powder? And will it come out the same ? I absolutely love you and your recipes ..
Yum!! I love making beans! I will try the last step with vinegar & brown sugar to see what it will taste like. 😛 Please make a video on how to make Arepa!! (The Dominican cake) 😩😋
Love it. the sugar threw me for a loop as my family did not do this, will try it and see what difference it makes. I have a request, can you make 'Dulce de Coco' con o sin batata?
Lol no worries. The sugar-vinegar at the end is something I've seen a few people do but not everyone. The same goes with adding auyama. Adding the sugar and vinegar at the end helps balance out flavors and also helps enhance flavors. The taste is very subtle. If you forget to add it at the end, it's no biggie 😊 and I love Dulce de Coco!!! Definitely writing this one down. Thanks for watching!
Yummmm looks amazing ! #notificationsquad. Can you please make a salmon recipe for this summer 🙏🏾🙏🏾. Also are you still on your diet? You look stunning and slimmer in this video ! 👍🏾👍🏾
Not at all! Go ahead and use adobo. I do it all of the time. I like to switch between the two. Feel to add a little as you go and season to taste. Thanks for watching!
Hey Chef Zee, how are you?! My youngest son used to go to a Dominican daycare & told me the other day that he loved her beans! 😁 His favorite meal in the world(for now anyway 😁) is beans & rice! Being that I'm Haitian, we also cook a lot of beans & rice too. My kids have been stuffed with Puerto Rican(older ones went to P.R. daycares), Haitian & Dominican style beans & rice! That's a lot of rice & beans, now that I think about it! 😅 I'm definitely going to make this for him. Thanks for sharing your recipe with us. 😌
Rice and beans are a way of life lol. I don't what I would do if I couldn't eat rice and beans lol. I might just go crazy! Also, Haitian Black Rice has a SPECIAL place in my heart. I have a few friends that make it for me because I pretty much eat the whole thing on my own haha
@@Chefzeecooks Lol, I love my beans & rice too & can't go to long without having some! I'm also due to make some black rice as well! Happy cooking (and eating) to the both of us! ☺️
When you transferred the beans, did you transfer it with it's instant pot water or did you drain and transfer without water and then added new water to it?
Hi Chef Zee! First I want to say that I love , love , love your videos and recipes. Thank you for taking the time to make and share them with us😊 I do have couple of question regarding prepping and storing dry beans... Can I soften dry beans and use at a later date? If so, what is the process? Thanks in advance!
Hey! Thanks so much for watching the videos 😊 Means the world. You can most definitely soften the beans beforehand and store them. Simply soften then and then freeze them-- liquid and all in an air tight container. I do this all of the time is fairly simple
Thank you for this recipe. My boyfriend is from DR so I made this for him and he loved it. I didn’t add the ayauma this time but I will next time since his grandma makes it that way.
Yep , yep , yep!!! If you soak them overnight and the beans are still a little hard, simply boil them with a little bit of olive oil. That will do the trick :)
You taught me how to cook in my late teens , I love your recipes ! 🤍
I'm so glad! This just made my day. Thank you so much for watching!

Great video request! I can definitely include this in my lineup of videos :) Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the recipe. Looks delicious 😋🤤. You can chop all the vegetables like that you don't have to take them out.
That's more of a Puerto Rican thing, Dominicans take it out , thick sauce, Puerto Ricans leve vegetables in and leave it in a soup like consistency.
I love the channel you are the best I just get subscribe a week ago and I really enjoying all the secrets about our delicious dominican food, thanks for your effort and dedication.

The vinegar and sugar at the end I’m going to try that thank u
Hey zee, what did you do to make the pot start boiling again lol...sorry I'm new to cooking. Did you press sauté?

Hi love your channel to soften the beans can I use my rice cooker on "slowcooker" never used this option on my cooker just wondering
that how I want my beans to look. Mine always come out to watery and not bean tasty if that makes sense lol thanks will give it a try
I love this! Do you add salt?
The instructions to this recipe aren't on your site, can you please add it? Thanks
You should invite me over to eat some arroz, habichuelas & carne! (aguacate on the side)
the pressure cooking the beans didn't work out for me, I'm not sure if they are supposed to be completely soft ); help me zee!
Yummmm looks amazing ! #notificationsquad. Can you please make a salmon recipe for this summer 🙏🏾🙏🏾. Also are you still on your diet? You look stunning and slimmer in this video ! 👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you!! Working on a Salmon Recipe this week :) ... and yes, I'm still dieting and exercising. Thank you for noticing :)
Awesome!
Once again thank us so much
Always welcome! Thank you for watching ^_^
did you add any seasoning to this? no salt? is it that flavorful it doesnt need it?
Thank you so much Zee! Is it a big deal if I substitute the sopita for adobo for this recipe?
Not at all! Go ahead and use adobo. I do it all of the time. I like to switch between the two. Feel to add a little as you go and season to taste. Thanks for watching!

how many does this serve? can you make this without a pressure cooker?
When you transferred the beans, did you transfer it with it's instant pot water or did you drain and transfer without water and then added new water to it?
I transferred it with the instant pot water. That water is what has all of the flavor and color for your beans. You want that!
To boil after adding the ingredients can I just put it in saute instead ?
I would put the ingredients and some beans broth in a blender for a few seconds and put it back in the pot.
how would you serve this with rice and what else?
How do you get ur sopita as a powder?
They sell it as a powder :) . I use the brand knorr and I find the powder version almost everywhere like Target, BJs, and Walmart. Hope this helps!
Auyama is pumpkin
I set my pressure cooker at 30 min and the beans were still a little hard. I have the instant pot plus.

Thank you for this recipe. My boyfriend is from DR so I made this for him and he loved it. I didn’t add the ayauma this time but I will next time since his grandma makes it that way.
Yay! Thank you for trying the recipe. Try it with the auyama. It's a game changer 💕
What is a ayauma?
Hey I spelled it wrong. Auyama is a pumpkin. At my store it is called kabocha squash. I made it with it recently and it is very good.
Mmm, Looks good, what is All Yama called in English? Not sure I pronounced it correctly :o/
Ayuama is also known as Kaboucha Squash :)
Chef Zee Cooks Thanks for the info.
Hi Chef Zee,Can I Soak Th Beans Overnight And Follow Ur Same Steps Minus Th Crockpot?!?
Yep , yep , yep!!! If you soak them overnight and the beans are still a little hard, simply boil them with a little bit of olive oil. That will do the trick :)
I love your channel! Can you please do a salmon recipe and juego de avena!!
Thanks!
Can you make a dominican pollo asado or at least the marinade ir seasoning for it? Thank youu!
Yes yes yes! Coming soon!
Can i put tomato sauce instead of paste ? And sofrito
You can. It may change the flavor just a little bit
Jajajaja creí que solo rn México comíamos frijoles (habichuelas)
You said Thyme but that's cilantro in the video so is it Thyme or cilantro
If you dont have a instant pot, can you boil the beans first?
Of course! Feel free to boil the beans for about 45mins to an hour with some olive oil. This will help soften the beans 😉
