Hi Yenesia, I am Dominican but my mom never taught me how to cook. I've been dying to learn how to make Dominican style beans for the longest, thank you so much for this recipe! ❤
Thanks for your professional step by step instructions! My husband is going to try your recipe out soon! He is a gringo who loves Dominican beans! He didn't know the beans he was eating were Roman! We would like instructions for Moro as well!
reeooww : try making it. it tast so much better. make a big batch then cool them down. Put them in smaller storage container and freeze them for lazy days.
I just want to say thank u, I'm married to a Dominican I've been dying to learn some dishes. I'm Puerto Rican. Our foods are similar but the taste is different. My daughter loves Dominican beans. I made them the beans the other day they we so happy and surprised. So I'm going to make it again tonight with white rice and chuletas. Just wanted to thank u.I brought the Sour orange. So I can't wait to try it with that. Thanks again.
Abigail T That’s not true. It depends on who makes it. Puerto Rican’s and Dominican use basically the same ingredients. Some people are heavy handed with their ingredients. Both my sisters Puerto Rican beans taste totally different. One is good and light but the other one...OMG! She’ll knock your socks off.,LOL
Good video love Dominican food as much as my Puerto Rican food but isn’t sofrito usually put in blender to make mixing averythimg together for a paste
heheh92 I like to use the Sazon but it's fine if you don't use it. The taste is just as good! The ingredients that I stired fried is the Sofrito... Minus the tomato paste and the powder condiments, some people prepare ahead of time but I like to make fresh every time I cook. And yes if it's all blended, it's a green paste haha...
I make mine with no sodium chicken bullion and Goya no salt added sazon, and tomato sauce with lower sodium because of my hypertension. My beans are very low in sodium but you can’t tell it’s low in sodium.

I like the way you did your sofrito it's similar to how us Ecuadorians make sofrito. We call it refrito and we leave it whole
I love Dominican beans ,Yummie :)
They are good! I love your channel, I could eat Puertorican food everyday. I hope you are having a great day!

I looooooove this style beans, but nothing in the world could get me to make it from scratch haha. You're a champ!
reeooww you can do the same thing with canned beans but doing them from scratch tastes Sooo much better and it's so much easier than people think!
+Cyn O Very true! Super easy and still taste great.

leslie calderon I'm Puerto Rican and I make my beans the same way. I'm trying to understand what you mean by you like it the Dominican way.
In my opinion, Puerto Rican food is so bland. Dominican food has a lot of zest and pungeant flavor - I think it's from the vinegar they use.
@@abigailt9197disagree.. I guess it depends who you esting it from... 🤷🏾♀️

Shoukd i soak raw beans overnight and cook next day in a pressure cooker
To thicken let the calabaza over cook about 4 pieces or 1 teaspoon of flour will do the trick
No flour in Dominican Beans!
What type of beans are they. In Jamaica n other west indian islamds we mainly use red peas black eye peas n gungo
Roman beans... But this will work with almost any beans.
if you can't find pumpkin can you use squash?
Hello.... I would than omit the pumpkin. The pumpkin is a big part but it would taste just as good without it. I have never added squash.
Thank you!
My pleasure! :)
I cant find pumpkin either but it still taste great without it. I made this with red kidney beans too
❤
How to make Dominican style white rice
Video coming soon! 😉
I only see beans in the finial dish. What happens to the cilantro, peppers, and onions? Do you remove them or do they boil away into the beans?
Too funny. They pick them out before you serve them
