@@AbbyJN actually it happens in the books too. If you’re going off books, what iteration of Thor are you going for? Suddenly, the lore becomes so convoluted that both everyone can and everyone can’t wield the hammer at the same time. Worthiness is subjective, not objective. It’s kinda like respect.

As long as the writers don't try to pull writer ego bullsh*t, and they get the characters personalities down to the habits, then im all for this remake.
Even if its with the same director, im not gonna have high hopes for this. One of the things that made httyd so special was that it was a cartoon. There are thing u can do in animation that you cant do in love action
Stoick, fishlegs and ruffnut matches well. For Hiccup, the face structure is pretty accurate so the actor only has to straighten his hair. Maybe a wig or hair dye will work for astrid?
It's weird though, Astrid was Scandinavian, not part black. The actresses hair type, eye color, skin and facial structure is way off. Not that I'm hating on her, she's probably a good actress in her own right but why can't they stick to accuracy when remaking movies anymore? True but as long as she plays the character right 🤷🏾♂️
the perfect trilogy should be left untouched

They don't purposely change the race of characters they just pick the best actor. To look at a recent example Steven Youn who's Asian dropped out of playing sentry a white charter and the new person cast is white.

❄️
This is bad why? And maybe they were chosen cuz they’re good actors. Especially the one for Astrid and fishlegs. And I get Ruff is wide af and fish legs ain’t white but I’ve seen that people tend to stfu when the movie and performances are good but will rag harder on any changes if it’s not good. And isn’t the actress for Astrid white? Like only a quarter black? I thought she was white white for a sec until people started bitching and moaning literally sniffing the black outta her. I’d like more accuracy with ruff being scrawny af and fishlegs and Astrid being blonde but the actress does have that small roundish face and she was good in TLOU, not to mention, if they do a good job, that’s kinda more important

I really wanna know the reasoning for that casting for Astrid. At least make them somewhat resemble the actual character. And it is no way the fault of Nico Parker for not looking like someone for a role cause thats just stupid. Whoever put in that casting for Astrid is just a dumbass because they definitely know nobody going to like it and they should know people going to spread hate on that casting.
Also Toughnut perfect but Roughnut not that plump.

Hmmmm...should the dragon be white
Nah make him darker
Forget the casting for Astrid IT'S RUFFNUT THAT THROWS ME OFF😭😭
Don’t let him cook let him yap
The actress for astrid is alright they could have found a better person to replicate the animated version since everyone on the cast member choices look like there character but they have to give her astrids blonde hairstyle.

@@caseybaird6268I understand what you are saying but the point of a movie is "Show don't tell" and a live-action SHOULD have an actor/actress to look like the character they portray. Yes obviously there is more to acting than looks but that still contributes to acting like something doesn't make you look like it
@@pyxlimage743 they shouldn't pick the 2nd best choice because of skin color, it doesn't need to be 100% accurate. If you want that you can just watch the original
@@caseybaird6268 First of all may I just thank you for being calm about this and not giving me death threats.. second I completely understand where you are coming from but it's still to say the least unfamiliar when you see "the same character" but different race and altered personality. You know what I mean?
That all said, Astrid wasn't even in the books?! She basically replaced an existing female character (a barbarian ninja-princess named Kamikaze of a neighboring tribe of Amazonian pirate queens) but kept the name of her dragon, Stormfly (a stealth dragon who could mimic human speach), and then gave that dragon's stealth ability to the Light Fury?!
They don’t mean the books. They mean the animated movies
They had to sneak in some inclusion smh
Being completely honest, I hate the person they chose for Hiccup. Like I don't the actor, I hate the decision and the timing of it.
He is TOO HANDSOME for the FIRST HTTYD movie. For the 2nd or 3rd, okay, but the first one, he's too handsome for Hiccup. I was even looking for interviews to hear what he sounds like, he even sounds handsome AF.
Hiccup sounds and looks like he's going through puberty, Mason looks and sounds like he's already gone through puberty and it did him absolute wonders.
Like cmon
Imagine getting rejected from the casting cuz you're too handsome, though 😂
How do you insult someone by complimenting them?😂
Saying the animated movies were the source material (not that he said the specifically but it is heavily implied) is unknowing misinformation. The animated movies were actually based off a book of the same name, written by Cressida Cowell. And even then, there were a few changes (exactly what they are, I don’t know)
Yes, but the live action is based off fhe movies as far as I'm informed.
Though it'd be more interesting to actually see the books turned into a movie
@@bugcatcherjacky1334 with that context it is right, I do still think it’s important to know that the animated movie is, and I can’t tell you how close it follows them, based of a book series
@@darkstarplays6315 The movies are nothing like the books at all. It's like two completely different stories. Their both great though love the Movies and the Books.
@@AbbyJN actually it happens in the books too. If you’re going off books, what iteration of Thor are you going for? Cuz in one story, the hammer doesn’t find him worthy because he doesn’t find himself worthy. The rules are loose, especially in the comics with all the retcons and restarts. Suddenly, the lore becomes so convoluted that both everyone can and everyone can’t wield the hammer at the same time. Worthiness is subjective, not objective. It’s kinda like respect.

Live action remake: put a black chick in it and make her gay😂
Tuffnut: The chicken is not amused
As long is not Disney we good but is dreamwork making that better
Not every core aspect of our childhoods needs a live action adaptation!
I'll never understand why people think live action remakes need to be done, especially when the original is as iconic as HTTYD
The only thing I’d say is that this movie isn’t set in like, America, it’s set in Scandinavia and they’re supposed to be Vikings… like I know it’s fictional but it wouldn’t be crazy if in this situation the actors were white
I’m glad that Gerard butler is playing Stoick he’s the only logical choice
Astrid got the Annabeth treatment, I guess there are not many talented blonde actresses these days
I hope no one is upset about Nico Parker because that girl is an incredible actress. She had me crying more during her very short stint in The Last of Us then I did during the video game.
Okay? But is she Scandinavian? Why is every other character accurate to the original design except her? Totally isn’t any cynical stunt casting, right?
Burger beard from the spongebob movie:sponge out of water would be perfect for stoick
It’s so funny how all the actors look exactly like their animated counterpart, except for Astrid, lol just straight up pandering, gotta love those handouts

Omg the way he said Gerald butler.....😢
I was actually quite excited for this, but then I realised that they took her original character design away now I’m not watching it.
Pisses me off beyond belief, and not just when it comes to race.
