    1. Moisturise with products that work for you.
    2. Take time to detangle your hair. Find the right tool and don't over detangle. (Finger detangling helps)
    3. Low manipulation means you don't need to do much to it to get into a style. (protective style is a style that does not break your hair).
    4. Protect hair while you sleep.
    5. When your bored with your hair, keep it away.
    6. Avoid hair salons.
    7. Avoid leaving your hair in the same style for too long.
    That's what I got :-)

    My notes:
Kinda got a bit lost lol but I thought I'd still share...
    1. Moisturise: do not mix products, use 1 at a time
    2. Detangling: take your time, use the right tools (use your fingers), take your time, don't over detangle
    3. Low manipulation
    4.
    5. Use satin or silky to protect your hair
    6. Use twists to style hair when you're bored
    7.
    8. Avoud hair salons
    9. Avoid leaving hair in the same style for too long unless its number 6

I've been natural over three years. I've been to the salon once. She ripped so much hair out. I'm armpit length right now. Ill go for a trim and two strand twists soon. I think once a year to blow it straight and trim ends is sufficie t for me. The more I learn my hair the better my results. Just started back with henna after about a year and a half. I don't know why I got away from this wonderful product.

I really don’t need a leave-in, curling custard, or gel, or mouse or whatever aside from olive oil or castor oil and my homemade whipped shea butter (or just plain raw shea butter). My hair is very particular for some reason and does *not* like a lot of products or manipulation. I absolutely have to braid or twist my hair up at night with my whipped shea butter or my hair will get *hella* dry. Thank 👏🏾 You 👏🏾 Gurl 👏🏾!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm about to cut all my hair off and start over. I'm in my early 20s and have only now started to appreciate my natural hair. I had it out this past year and I never felt more like myself but it's never healed from all the chemicals and heat. I don't believe in frequent hair washing. I think co washing once every two weeks is good and shampooing monthly is more than enough in the colder months. Too much washing sometimes can lead to more breakage.

Thank you for this informative natural hair care tutorial. You are right about finding the right product for your hair type. I had tried various hair care products in the past, and my hair responded differently to certain products. Now I stick to the product that works best for my hair. You are on point about staying out of these hair salons, and that no one is going to care for your hair like you will care for it. Your hair is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Blessing to you.

1st HONEST PERSON about protecting styles!!!!!! My hair got SOOOOOOO very thin and it comes out with my hands by touching it. I would keep my braids and crochet in for about 2 months sometimes 3 months and when I take them down, I see more hair in the sink than on my head. It has gotten so thin and the areas that had some length before you can barely catch to braid. I am now, for the first time wearing a wig, daily, so that I can treat my hair more often. Until I saw your video, it didn't dawn on me that I was still causing damage because I still continue to have corn raids under the wig and I noticed that my hair gets very dry fast although I use thick oils between the braids and sometimes spray it with leave in conditioner. So, THANK YOU!!!! I will now try going without the braids for a while so that I my hair would be free and clear for any treatment I need to do.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!!! Happy Easter!!!

These tips are so true. I managed to grow my hair to a small length last year which I was quite pleased with. I braided it once last year in October for 5 weeks and it completely fell out. I have started all over again and am definitely not braiding it anymore for a few years

I have done braids for years and after taking out the braids after every two months my hair loss was so great that i saw no hair growth. I thank you for highlighting that one has to choose the protective style that works for your hair. I have now decided that i will protect my hair with wash and go's. I wash my hair once a week and do the pineapple at night. Every week when i wash my hair their is hardly any shedding compared to when i took the braids out... there use to be so much shedding that it filled both my hands. Thanks for your advice!!

This is so true I feel like I could've been at tailbone length if I kept up with everything that I knew I needed but we all learn what is good and bad for us. I found you a few days ago and I am so happy I did because, I am also passion about natural hair but it is taking me a while to learn what my hair need. I am finally finding the ones, I want to follow with hair like mine. I started my journey June 2, 2014 it was getting thinner now I am using green tea treatment which seem to help. I am in my late 60s plus lots of health problems which calls for medicines. I have not used any heat since I started my natural journey and don't have any desire to do so. My hair seem to grow slow. Since I found you I like your tips so thank you young lady.

Oh I feel sooooo much better! I've been without a hairdresser for 5 years bcuz of moving to a new state, but I just don't trust anybody. Whenever I go back home I go to my old hairdresser, but I've just been doing my hair myself. Wow. I 've seen a lot of videos on length retention, and this video gives specifics. Recently, I started using a powder in my hair and I need to redo (loc) it ev 5 days. I was not doing that before and I have gained a good inch of growth by doing this within 30 days. I would love to see your wash and moisturizing routine. I know now I am on the right track. I got to keep trying until I find something that works. I just subscribed. You hair is geogeous and I appreciate your realness.

I'm wearing 6 twists in back, 2 on each side, twist on top as pic. The powder chebe, Ms. Sahel, (a new item), I use as an oil for hair and a coffee oil, babiblon kay for scalp. My back top twist are armpit length. I am so excited, because it is now thicker in the back. Now I'm waiting for my top to fill in. Tuck ends away by buns-high or low, wrap around, bend under using rubber bands. French rolls.

Thank you for your tips. I follow a lot of these myself and now I have longer hair around the back and sides. Your hair looks so lovely. Unfortunately I lost a lot of hair on top due to chemo drugs but I love seeing the different natural curls I have and learning how to take care of my hair. I discovered that combing my hair while it's dry caused breakage - now I moisturize and have enough hair to cover over the top of my head and hide my hair loss. I'm glad now I don't have to wear wigs all the time!

This is an awesome video. This natural journey has been a struggle with me:-( I inadvertently big-chopped by going to the hair dresser for a trim and she chopped off over half of my length so Im back at at a TWA. Im a little discouraged (throughout my journey) because I have only had collarbone/shoulder length hair but maybe I will be able to grow it past shoulder length with educating myself on the health of my hair and length retention . Im 4C, low porosity, I guess medium density. You give me hope. Your hair is beautiful!!!!

Hi! I am so impressed by the length of your hair... I'm thinking about going natural but I'm scared since my hair is very coarse and I am used to my long relaxed hair (mid-back length). Was your hair previously relaxed? If yes, did you transition for a long time? How long did it take for you to grow your hair so long? Can you make a video on your natural hair journey? Many thanks in advance, you are a great inspiration

Nice video, I'm starting an 8 month, 8 inch hair growth challenge, my goal, to do everything right and healthy for 8 months then check my length and see if I got my 8 inches. My nape is a little past collarbone length my goal is for my crown to reach mid back. Right now my crown touches my shoulders. You are correct in finding the product your hair likes. I have found my staple hot oils, detangler, poo, DC, and leave in concoction for my protein sensitive, low porosity 4c hair (I'm no longer a product junkie) also the right nighttime moisturizing/tie up routine (On days I want to look extra cute I Bantu the night before, on regular days I want to look cute i twist/wrap/stretch, on days I plan to stay home and chill I keep it twisted/stretch/wrapped and tied and put on a cute sun hat, newsboy, ball cap or fedora if I need to run to the store. Here's the kicker though, I plan to massage my scalp inverted every single day for ten minutes before bed. My curl definition is insane, I have a curl pattern I never knew existed and I love my hair. Great video.

Healthy meaning: drink 3 liters of water daily, vitamins, 1 salmon croquette everyday (great in omega 3 + protein), keep hair tied up every night, scalp massage daily, LCO daily, poo every two weeks, keep small umbrella and rain bonnet in my purse. If humidity is bad, I keep it tied up and under cute caps/sun hats

You are so right about mixing products! I actually tried SO Many products this summer & fall but I'm staring to see a decline in the health of my hair. I'm going to stick to the same products for a month from now on. Also product ingredients is VERY important! I don't know any natural or long haired person that got their hair to their hips or butts w/ out using more natural products or DIYs so I'm done w/ sulfates/silicones & cheap drugstore products. My hair has gotten increasingly drier by using non natural stuff & I knew I had to stop but it's sooner than later. I also need to get waay better at detangling.

Not all stylists are bad, I think It is important to find a stylist that cares for natural hair. While you might not need to visit the salon regularly sometimes you may need professional advice on things you may not understand about the hair. Just my opinion.
