I’ve been told that conditioners/serums/oils don’t help with hair growth, and I think that’s technically true, but keeping the hair shaft in good condition helps prevent breakage so it indirectly contributes. I had no idea there were so many ways to harm one’s hair. It is amazing to see your hair as is now, the result of so much work and learning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Caorl's daughter ran away with my hair, my hair got jacked up. I went back to the Dollar Tree, Softee Indian Hemp, Blue Magic clarifying shampoo and conditioner. plaited my hair at the roots, twisted the ends, got some clove water lightly mist at night. My hair grew down m y back pass BLS I went back to old school simple. worked for me. excellent video.
- Don't fear cutting or trimming hair - Use wisdom to dry hair (low or no heat is best) - Don't leave hair out for long. Twist or braid hair and keep hair up away from friction - If doing box braid, don't do it constantly (box braid to twist to mini twist to buns etc) - Moisturize attachment braids (if no mousturizer then mix leave in conditioner and water to spray it) then oil with light weight oil - Stick with the routine you're sure works for you
I didn’t even finish watching the video my heart is on fire 2025 hair goals, I love it so much. I can’t wait to finish the videos and actually apply these tips.
My Afro is down to my waist, I have been using Mane n Tail since I was younger. Once I stop using my hair gets greasy or thin and fragile, find products that work and stick to it. Stop buying oils or growth tonics from other people and make your own. My hair is different, what works for y’all won’t work for mine. I only do silk press once a year.
Great video!!! And beautiful hair. Ladies just remember that if you are vitamin D deficient or iron deficient your hair will fall and won’t grow. So consider a hair, skin, and nail vitamin and like she said keep all that heat out of your hair.
I agree. The overuse of a blow dryer severely damaged my hair back in 2022. I had to cut off a significant amount of hair and nurse my hair back to good health. I haven’t used one since, so over two years ago. 😊
I love that you shared this video so our young black queens have an example to look up to, to embracing our natural, beautiful afrocentric hair and not the European hair weaves that don't represent our culture. You have a gorgeous, healthy head of hair! And you have a new subscriber.
I had a hormonal imbalance that made me loose my thick hair when I was young and I had to do the big chop for the first time 5 years ago. I have cut my hair short a couples times over the years but I’m trying to grown out past my shoulders now. Diet and deficiency’s is probably the biggest thing for growth as for me.
Your hair is absolutely beautiful and healthy! I’m having such a difficult time trying to figure mine out and I really hate that. It has thinned significantly and it seems nothing I do, works. I know an art of it is my diet, so I’m working on that! These tips seem very helpful-- thank you!
God is so good! I was just thinking about where I am in my hair journey and how I need to be more consistent. Then your video pops up. So so helpful. Thank you 😊
Carols Daughters used to have great products until she expanded and sold the company . I used to us the products many years ago when she first came out before she was on Oprah .
I also had issues with that particular Carol’s Daughter line. But I know my hair is protein sensitive and once I learned to avoid high protein products (mainly coconut oil), I started experiencing softer, more moisturized hair. I do still use Carol’s Daughter. I use their Goddess Strength line. I haven’t had a problem with that one. My hair is soft, shiny, and an inch or 2 away from waist length. Like the OP stated, find products that work for your hair, style your hair in ways that protect your ends, moisturize your hair, and be patient. Your hair is always growing, you just need to figure why you’re not retaining length.
My hair was down to my belly button most of my life and I never cut it because I was scared jt would not grow back. Then one year, my hair cut itself. It literally looked like I gave myself a bob cut but it actually fell out in a very odd way... like I had it professionally cut and nobody believed me when I explained. It grew back, even more damanged than before (because it was never cut, just split off) and I STILL refused to cut it. Lo g story short, I had an eventful 2023 regarding DV and a successful restraining order and decided to celebrate by taking care of myself. I got my hair cut and started taking supplements. My hair is not as long as it was, but it grew back extremely fast and I wish I had cut it years ago. I'm hoping it grows back to its original length but I am thankful the ends are so thick and luscious vs scraggly, thin and fraile.
I tried that leave-in as well. I love lavender but I couldn't feel any moisture after several uses so i threw it away. Its kind of trial and error with products cos there's so much out there but don't get excited about all that you see cos everyones hair is different. If its working, stick with it and be consistent with your routine and you will get results
The main reason I wanna grow my hair out a few more inches is because I wanna feel like I hava lion’s mane, such aura would fit me so well bro. (my hair is currently about 12½ inches long and I’d like to gain maybe 4 more in length)
My hair grows fast, like really fast, but earlier this year I used to cut my hair often due to stress in my bathroom.. I've stopped since my last professional haircut in August. Since August my hair grew like 5 centimeters
I only do protein with a stylist. It can really damage your hair if you don’t do it right. I also stick with the same products that work for my hair and don’t change it up unless I see someone with my same hair type use it(maybe on TH-cam) before usage. Sometimes the simplest products work the best. I love pure castor oil from Whole Foods - one bottle is like 7 bucks - lasts forever and my hair loves it. No added fragrances or chemicals just pure oil. There’s no need to over complicate things with our hair
The thing is , first u need to know what type of hair perosity you have , if it low high etc . Like I have low perosity so therefore I need to buy products that work for my hair type . My problem that I had was using the wrong products that were not for low perosity . I hope this helps to know your hair perosity and buy the products that contribute . Be blessed everyone.
I used a different carol's daughter spray in my hair last Thursday. It was my first time using it. It worked so well in my hair. I did mini twists. They turned out so nice. BUT i regret using a new product. I had an allergic reaction to it. I have a rash all over my neck, ears and face. My eyes swole up and my ears. My face looks puffy. My skin in so dry and peeling and red. The spray got in my eye somehow and for the oast few days my left eyeball has been irritated, dry and in pain. Even though I've constantly flushed it with cold water. Ultimately I had to wash this product out. And now i have to re-do my mini twists on top of trying to heal from this allergic reaction. All of this to say, i wish i would've listened to my intuition and not tried the new product. 😓💯
Yes to the sticking with what works best. For me, it was twisting my hair in multiple twists with pure shea butter while wet (got to right above butt length). But then I got lazy and started using leave-in conditioners because it was faster to spread and my hair slowly started to get shorter (now at bra strap length). I also was swimming a lot, so that might've harmed my hair, as well. Going back to the shea butter twists now. Hopefully I can get to butt length in a couple years.
Sounds just like me😭 till I completely abandoned heat. I now trim 4 months or whenever needed, but braids helps me maintain moisture and prevent knots. I will follow this advice of yours ❤
I'm trying to start my natural hair journey but I have no idea where to start. I'm currently suffering from breakage and tangles. Got any tips or product recommendations?
I relaxed my hair for the first time in 2023 because my natural hair was stressing me out and once I did I absolutely HATED it so my dumb self figured “well since your hair is straight maybe bangs will make it cuter?” BIGGER MISTAKE. I COULD NOT CUT BANGS. Did a big chop in July and now my hair is doing much better and I’m taking much better care of it but its neck length and no longer armpit length 🥲 to this day I wish I could go back in time and slap the mess out of myself
What does your hair actually need? As you may already know, hair needs to be constantly replenished with three or four elements in order to have healthy hair: water, oil, cream, and protein. These four elements are equally important and depend on each other for overall hair health.
Omg!!!!!! Thank for that comment of wearing box braids back to back. I had the same issues and I thought it was my hair dresser that was secretly cutting my hair. Oh no! Thanks. I will cancel my next braid appointment
I had long relaxed hair but I got bored of it started transitioning. By September , I cut it to about three inches. Currently, I'm going on 8 inches long (the awkward length phase). I used a lot of your advice to get my hair where it is now, and I hope 2025 takes me to bra length😁. Thank youuu😍...btw your hairstyle is eating
Dang, your hair looked so thin. You've been through so much.😄 You've come a long way. Congrats on where you are now. I no longer buy products naturals are raving about. I buy and experiment too. Protein treatments dry the hell out of my hair. I deep conditioner every single time I go for a wash and set. And I only oil my hair once or twice a week amd keep it braided with only my hair
my hair been growing the most when im just lazy and do nothing. i put amala oil once in awhile then put it under a bonnet thats it. i cut my ends off if they are fizzy.
The exact same thing happened to me when I used the Carol's Daughter conditioner and the Mielle conditioner. I couldn't understand how it tangled my hair and dryed it out🤦🏾🤷🏾 I had to use alot of another brand hair conditioner to fix the problem. I don't know if this is correct, but I saw on TH-cam that someone else bought the rights to the products and changed the ingredients OF BOTH PRODUCTS😬 BTW... HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE🎊🎉!! PEACE AND BLESSINGS!!!! 💖💃🏽
First of all thank you for showing us your beautiful natural hair. But for me it was exactly the opposite that made my hair grow. When I started blow drying it once a week the health of my hair improved significantly. I saw a clear decrease in breakage when styling my hair daily. Furthermore I figured out that my max time without a wash is 6 days instead of 7. My breakage significant increase from day 6. So funny how if you focus on your routine your hair speaks to you clearly. Next to weekly washes I deep condition once a month and do a mask once a month. After washes leave in liquid conditioner is added always. And as the last step hairoil is added on ends, oil leftover on mids and roots. Once again live tells us that there isn't a one strategy that fits all😊
A running theme seems to be looking at what other people are doing without any actual research. Every person I’ve seen do an aphogee protein treatment say to do it sparingly or once evry 6-8 weeks.
I cut my ends 3 weeks ago. Girl I had so much split ends. Last time I cut was probably 1-2years ago…I’m gonna start to wear a puff a bit more as well, no more box braids or twists it caused too much tension like you mentioned. For some reasons my scalp can’t handle oils it gets itchy fast when I apply oils. I am experimenting with the products for my hair as well… it is not easy
The aphogee treatment kinda destroyed my hair. I have very very tight coils and even when I followed the instructions it wasn’t right for my hair. Made me have to not only blow dry BUT straighten it with a small (non heat controlled) flat iron. Makes me just want to wear head wraps forever!! Your hair is beautiful
You're skin and hair is gorgeous.
At this point, I'll just settle for thickness. I've given up on length 🙄
I didn’t even finish watching the video my heart is on fire 2025 hair goals, I love it so much. I can’t wait to finish the videos and actually apply these tips.
Clean scalp, moisturized hair and little to no tension in the styling works wonders.

You posted something like this about a year ago. I thank you for that, it really was a game changer in length retention, I'm at nipple length now
I'm so glad it helped you!! Length retention is definitely key
I absolutely love the sheer volume of your hair
She looks like the 1974's version of Chaka Khan.
Great video!!! And beautiful hair. Ladies just remember that if you are vitamin D deficient or iron deficient your hair will fall and won’t grow. So consider a hair, skin, and nail vitamin and like she said keep all that heat out of your hair.

I really love that the advice you provide with your posts are things you have actually been through, learned not to do and pivoted .
Thanks so much! I try to keep it honest lol
I’d like to speak with Carol’s mom cuz her daughter is a menace!
I agree. The overuse of a blow dryer severely damaged my hair back in 2022. I had to cut off a significant amount of hair and nurse my hair back to good health. I haven’t used one since, so over two years ago. 😊
bro black people not growing out their hair is pure crime, look how magnificiant she looks! So pretty.
I also found that my conditioner caused breakage 😢it was such a shock. So don’t be afraid to change products, you never know what you’ll discover.
I love that you shared this video so our young black queens have an example to look up to, to embracing our natural, beautiful afrocentric hair and not the European hair weaves that don't represent our culture. You have a gorgeous, healthy head of hair! And you have a new subscriber.
I keep my natural hair in a ponytail. And I wash and Condition, and blow dry it every 2 weeks. I use wild growth and blue magic coconut oil grease.
You have such a calm voice 😇
You got the Tracee Ellis Rose hair! Love it!
What beautiful hair!
Thank you!!
I’m obsessed with your fro 💙💙

Carols Daughters used to have great products until she expanded and sold the company . I used to us the products many years ago when she first came out before she was on Oprah .
That makes sensee
OMG! You remind me of Daria (cartoon TV show MTV)
I absolutely love your hair,i hope my hair is as full as yours one day😊
You got this, it's all about consistency!🙌🏽
That same Carol's Daughter product is the reason to this day that I will never give that brand another chance.
Same
That's definitely fair, im very wary of new products now because of that one😭

I noticed my fro will be past shoulder length when I style it before going out, and when I wear my fro out it always shrinks up above my shoulders
thank you so much! you actually helped me grow my hair. it reaches my shoulders now😸
So happy to hear that!🥳

Omgg😭 ur hairs definitely gonna flourish in no time though! I kinda miss the short natural era when i first big chopped
Nah, the Carol’s daughter regular conditioner but same scent dried my hair out as well! Never bought that brand again 😩
So I don’t have an issue with growth, but my hair is not as thick or full as I would like it to be.

The shorts are okay but I prefer yours videos on hair the health and maintenance, especially wash days

SEASON GREETINGS EVERYONE THANKS FOR THE VIDEO JUSTICE LOVE YOUR HONESTY ON YOUR HAIR JOURNEY EXPERIENCES
Omg! Carols Daughter black vanilla leave in smelled so good but it left my hair dry and hard. I’m not sure if it had a lot of protein or alcohol.
Problem for me is that I found a good product they discontinued it so now I’m trying different things what a blow argh!
The tangles I got were the worst tangles I’ve ever had in my life even after I detangle r it. I’ve always blow dried my hair after every wash day and before I used that protein treatment I never had that type of horrific tangled breakage. To detangle it I had to break or cut off my hair with hair grade scissors. Beforehand I took good care of it in knottless braids (and after learning of health studies concerning the braiding hair toxicity) decided to quit them permanently. I’m only doing my own hair no synthetic extensions OR expensive ssa human hair that’s unregulated (and unethical). My hair grew and inch but that breakage + worst knots in my life, was the death of me.
Ooo this may not be your case but when i dealt with the same issues, my problem back when i first used it (before i every dyed or bleached my hair and it was low porosity) is my hair didnt need a protein treatment at the time. Only when i use heat or have dyed it, now do i need to keep to a protein schedule. My hair didnt really enjoy protein when my hair was healthy and now my hair needs it more than it used too.
can you do a tutorial for a braid out please?
Now i need a vid on edges :,)
What if your hair isn't long enough and just stays up in a short afro always???
Thank you for this videoooo; Can you make a Wash Day routine video pls?
The picture of the breakage 😂😂😂😂😂😂. How painfully hilarious 😂😂😂.
Thank you ,for sharing .
Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner: makes your hair grow (no doubt), it makes my hair hard and dry! It works, but it's not worth it!
My mom doesn’t want me to cut my ends but my split ends are bad
Such a nice video😊. Pls how did ur hair becomes this thick??? Is there anyway I can make mine this thick too???
Could you post your LCO routine? 🫶🏽
Hi hun I'm a new subscriber. i just wanted to say you are gorgeous, and I hope to get my hair like yours one day 🫶🏾
Thank you for these tips.
I luv Ur hair so much!!! 💕😍
Im doing most of this and then sum🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Good information!
The top/front of my head won’t grow past 2 inches while the rest grows perfectly fine. Does anybody know a way to fix this.
