Thankyou Sarah for a lovely podcast as usual. I am always happy to see you have taken the time to share again. I have watched from your first one and you are an inspiration. I lost my husband at the end of May and am a little lost at the moment, can’t seem to concentrate enough to knit either. Hopefully soon. So sorry to hear you lost your Allie pup, I am very much an animal person and don’t know what I would have done without my 10 year old puppy dog Mabel these last few weeks. Looking forward to you shop update and to see all your beautiful makes even if I am unable to purchase any. Maybe one day. Take care. Xx
Oh Cathrine, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. I'm not surprised you haven't been able to concentrate. I hope, for a short while anyway that you got some distraction while watching my video. I hope also that you have access to a grief therapist if that's something you'd find useful. Our animals are such a beautiful source of love and support during difficult times. I have found my knitting community to be the most supportive. We meet weekly and just being around other women, even if I don't feel like going or talking, has been extremely helpful. It's easy to feel anxious or vulnerable like the world is all prickly but I highly recommend engaging in those softer spaces in your life where you can build your confidence in the safety of like minded folk. Please take care of yourself. Nourish your body with good food (I find soup helps when I don't feel like eating) and reach out if you need anything x
Thank you for your comments to those of us in America. As of Friday morning, I live in a state where even if she is raped, my daughter will not have access to an abortion. I would also say we live in one of the poorest states with one of the highest incidences of of domestic abuse and THE highest incidence of child abuse. We have a huge addiction problem as well. The same people that stand on their soapboxes and preach pro-life argue against raising our minimum wage to a living wage; argue against universal health services; argue against paid maternity care... I am a teacher and see first hand the effects of these collective policies and social problems. My daughter will have the money and support to travel where needed, if needed. So many others do not have that “luxury”. So sorry to hear of your loss. I’m sure a piece of your heart flew away. Losing a family member is always a blow, no matter how many feet they have. My favorite activist is my son. He doesn’t have a podcast but he is quick to support women’s issues, his trans friends, and his own fight for equality and the right to love who he wants on his terms. I do love the smash socks that you shared too!
Oh my goodness please know that we are with you! Please feel free to share any resources that could do with our support. I am beyond angry but we will gather forces and unite. It sounds like you have raised some very wonderful humans.
Hi there Sarah. It was so lovely to visit with you this morning. In our sad and heavy world, you are a beautiful light, and a reminder of much that is good. I am so sorry your furry soul mate had come to the end of her precious life. In activism, at this time my heart is pulled toward gender supportive work, such as The Trevor Project. Blessings to you, and all you're working on.
Hi Liz! Thank you so much for your lovely compliment and comment. There is so much work to do in the gender support space. LGBTQ+ kids in particular are facing so much right now. The Trevor Project looks like a fantastic organisation.Thank you for sharing it! I'm going to follow them now
So lovely to listen to another fab podcast from you. You might have a new family member, but you will always remember those who were a part of you for so long. For 6 months after I lost mine, I kept hearing mine & would look up expecting to see her!! The inspirational people whom I follow .. Lötta of Elk Market yarn, and Caroline of Höner Och Eir.. are both beautiful, inspiring women who share wonderful stories of how they live.. minimal impact on our Earth & as small a carbon footprint as possible. Caroline has a wonderful podcast for Patreons every week, and they are so soothing to listen to 💕
I heard Allie a lot in the first week. Like so certain it was her I got up and looked for her. That was very strange. Now I just feel her around and she's happy energy so I'm happy. Thank you so much for your lovely compliment and those awesome recommendations!
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, of course! I started to type her name into the comments, then later in the podcast you mention her! New subscriber here. Thank you for welcoming us into your creative world.💕
Hello Debbie. Thank you so much for being here and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. I hope you're well where you are. RBG is one of my hero's. I love her so much
Sarah I found your podcast through Cat Kelly podcast from Ireland even though I live in Australia myself and am loving it. I am in my early 60's and feel that what has happened in America is such a step back in time for women everywhere. How many times do women take 1 step forward then it feels like 10 steps backwards. I really thought that western world countries had already dealt with and solved this issue! Grrr! Okay enough rant...sorry. One of my favourite sustainable labels and Australian businesses is called "Billie & Grace" from Dungog NSW. It is a slow fashion business which designs and makes women's and children's clothing using sustainable Australian fabrics, slow cutting with minimum wastage, and all sewn locally. At age 62 I have been given the opportunity to work again as a cutter for this amazing business. This is not an advert for the business. Congrats on 1K subscribers Sarah and all the best.
Carol I'm so glad you're here! I love Cat so much. Her podcast is so enjoyable to watch and she's become a real friend. Please never apologise for ranting or being angry. We need it and it's healthy and it's valid. The other worrying issue is one of America's founding principles was the separation of church and state which, in this one decision, has been demolished. I'm going to drive to Brisbane this Friday and take part in the solidarity march there and see what else I can do. Thank you for the recommendation for the sustainable fashion label. Advertise away! We need more people spending their money there so that sustainable fashion becomes more accessible. And how wonderful that you've found a job that aligns with your values. So happy for you. I'm really pleased you found your way here. It's lovely to 'meet' you x
Congratulations Sarah on reaching 1000. You looked fabulous in your remodeled black dress. Sorry for the disappointing news on the building purchase - hopefully the next one will be 'the one'. Happy making.
I'm so sorry about your loss. I love my animals too and completely understand that grief. I had to make the very difficult decision to put my horse down last year and it was the hardest thing I've even done, even though I knew it was best for her. I enjoy your podcast so much. Congratulations on reaching 1000 subscribers. The pattern I'd say is "Knitorious RBG" sweater by Park Williams in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Oh I'm so sorry for your loss also. I found it the weirdest thing to have to decide like it was equally the hardest and the easiest decision to make. It was painful but after watching my father-in-law suffer so much at the end, it felt like a gift I could give her. Now having a puppy in the house again, I realise just how old she had gotten and how many 'classic Allie' things were no longer. I'm grateful she wasn't in pain for a long time and that I felt at peace with the decision. Thank you! I can't really believe it and am just so pleased that so many people are interested in seeing their craft through the lens of intention... or you know, just like my jibber jabber chatting :) Ooooh I'm definitely going to check out that sweater pattern!
@@TheMakersCorner Thank you. I've had to make the difficult decision to put down my dog before as well, and it was so hard. I'm proud of you for getting another puppy. After my parents' dogs passed away they refused to get any more pets because they said it was too painful, but to me the pain is worth it for the love we get and give to our pets. I can't imagine not having pets to love. Oh, one more thing I meant to mention before. Stop worrying about saying "um". Nobody even notices it until you point it out. LOL. What I love about watching you is feeling like I'm sitting down for a chat with a friend, and I'd never notice or judge how many ums my friend said while we were talking. I'm sure I probably say it a million times and don't even know it. LOL xoxo
Oh how I love your videos! It made me so happy to see the new addition to your family for Buddy's sake as well as yours. Wonderful. I had hoped so much that the Roe vs Wade would be a positive outcome and now devastated at how far things have regressed. Yet, in a patriachal society, I'm not surprised that they have again taken control over women's bodies. Heartbreak, anger, disbelief, all the emotions. It was only 19 years ago that abortion was decriminalised in Tasmania! Hello Karin! So lovely to see you here again and THANK YOU for your generous comment about my videos. I just adore knowing that I'm making someone happy. It's an unbelievable turn of events and a more dangerous one than just regressing. Church and State are now officially linked. I'm devastated. I couldn't believe how behind Australia is/was on the issue. I think it was only recently decriminalised here in QLD also. Absolutely awful!
@@TheMakersCorner Oh gosh, yes, dangerous times for so many women. Once again, the power of religion in politics raises it's head, that regardless of anyone's beliefs, everyone is controlled by it. Better not get me started on that topic! On a positive note, there will be women coming together to support each other, finding ways to help those in need.

I get major overwhelm with too many wips too. I've found lately I've only really managed to have 1 or 2 wips before I started getting it. So I'm trialling one Wip at a time... It's really weird to not have the piles to make on the needles but seems to be working. Although, it doesn't stop me dreaming about what I'm going to make with my yarn... 🤣🤣🤣
I was devastated when I heard that Bendigo had discontinued the Rustic. 😭 I was lucky that I took the mother in law for a visit to the mill shop for mother's Day and I managed to clean out some of their colours. Crossing fingers it comes back.
Hello from Mounds Illinois! You are very talented. Dying yarn has to be a huge job. I love hand dyed yarns especially red and purple colors. Love your cup and shirt. WOW! Your black dress is beautiful.

As an American, I am extremely proud of our supreme court who absolutely did the right thing. Women do not have a constitutionally protected right to abortion. This decision is going back to the states where it has always belonged. I am a strong supporter of the unborn.
As a woman, who (gratefully) has had relative easy access to safe abortions and reproductive healthcare, I am not. This decision belongs with uterus owners and them alone. Full stop. I fully support your right to disagree however, given the extreme difference in our positions on this, I do encourage you to think about whether my channel is the right fit. If you choose to stick around then please note, I am a proud feminist, witch and advocate for gender equality and reproductive rights who talks regularly and openly about these topics and they are not up for debate here on my channel or in any of my spaces. There are many many places online where you will find folks with similar views to you on this topic. This is not one of them.

Good podcast I like to see your yarn dyeing colour combinations amazing & surprising how natural products give unexpected colours like the lichen pale green gives what looks like to be vibrant pink purple yet heather gives pale gold beige
Never apologise for emotions Ali pup gave unconditional love support 🥰
Maya Angelou, although she was not a crafter
A crafter of the most beautiful words though. A wonderful recommendation.
True!
Please don’t aim for perfect cause then you won’t be so lovable/watchable/relatable!

It's such a great pattern! Really easy to follow but the perfect next step for the beginner sock knitter. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found another WIP after I recorded this so I have a lot on my needles too! ha ha ha
