      Thank you so much! and yes, I don't buy synthetic fibres. My skin just doesn't like them. I've also recently stopped knitting with superwash for myself. I still use a bit for my husband's socks as he prefers it and it's much easier to wash when he travels.

    2021/ 2022 I got overwhelmed by my yarn stash that I imposed a buying ban on single skein hand dyed & crochet a snuggle blanket ( 150 chain oblong )with mini skeins so reduced some yarn it was just a double crochet stitch & used every bit of the mini skein in colour fades so all purple to pink to peaches to orange yellows etc
    I didn’t want the granny square pattern I’m not a frilly fussy person simple & plain suit me more I’m so happy now ALL the mini skeins used up & I love it & been so useful over UK cold winter in attempting energy saving costs
    Now to decide on 100g skeins ( I gift knit during covid shawl cowls fingerless mitts hats ) ( one pair sock ) oh my struggled with socks ( not for me ) I lost my mojo for knitting so crocheting for now ( limit to blankets 😂🤣)
    I’ve been slow stitching ( calming ) I’ve done spring summer part way through autumn when all four season I’m going to make cloth book all done with preloved fabrics
    See you next time 💜

      I totally understand the feeling of overwhelm. I'm so impressed you've managed to use up all your mini skeins. I don't have too many but those and the balls that were under 40g I didn't count in my stash. I'm going to do a separate challenge for them I think. Do you have a Ravelry project page for the things you made? I'd love to get some of your pattern recommendations x

    Glad I found this.
    My stash goal is to reduce by 70% this year. So close to finishing but I'm struggling with the last little stretch. I have no shortage of projects to do it, it's just finding the time to knit 😂

      I'm so glad you found here too. Oh congratulations. That is a huge achievement! I'm nowhere near that epic goal but I have become incredibly intentional with my purchases and real about what I actually knit and wear. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. I'm just about to record a long overdue episode ,so I hope you enjoy enough to stay :)

    What a lovely looking stash! I also love Bendigo yarns-actually sitting here with it now😂. I must start looking around some opp shops as you seem to have loads of success! I also wanted to only use my stash only this year, but I like your idea better! Can’t wait to see and hear about your knitting intentions. 🥰🧶🥰

      BWM is so good! I'm knitting with it tonight under the aircon :) I've been very fortunate with the op shopping I agree. I do love it so much. I've learned from the past that restricting myself doesn't achieve much and being more intentional is a journey I have a lot of fun on. I'd love to hear how you go with your stash. For sure, laying it all out was extremely helpful. Probably the best thing about the whole day to be honest.

    Even in Melbourne knitting is not appearing in summer and we rarely get humid days......just hot and dry. I am surprised that you don't want to make cotton knit garments as I thought they would be more frequently worn. My parents retired to Brisbane and now they wear less knits. Nice to see your stash laid out and no one by one - good overview.

      I just don't like the way cotton looks knitted. I do enjoy sewing in the summer months but maybe I could take another look around for some cotton ideas. Lovely to see you here again :)

    No yarn ban is much more realistic as I knit and crochet, but determined to reduce my stash by 40% or more this year. When I laid my stash out about 2 months ago I got completely overwhelmed (wasn’t a good feeling at all). Fortunately I’m in Victoria and any yarns that I don’t favour I make into blankets or shawls and donate so I’ll be increasing my efforts this year and put it to good use. Btw, those boxes you’ve purchased are doing a great job for me. Was wondering if perhaps the moth could have come from yarn from the Op Shop? Not saying not to buy from there but freezing clothing and yarn is a good idea. Looking forward to seeing your journey from here on.

    • @TheMakersCorner
      @TheMakersCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Oooh I love your goal of 40% or more. That sounds fantastic and gentle you know? Yes I imagine it could have come from the op shop and just the humidity is a great climate for them up here. I freeze everything now and aren't the boxes great? I'm so glad I spent the extra money on them.

    • @WoollenMaple
      @WoollenMaple ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes our lovely knitting group on Ravelry has folk who go no buy "cold sheeping" and folk (like myself) who don't go on buying bans but try to only buy wool for practical purposes "moderate merino". I think having the ability to do what suits you is fantastic ❤

    With your grandmother's stash, I knit with donated yarn for my church. They visit sick people and they need wheelchair blankets. They are easy to knit up and I get rid of the yarn that is donated to me. Just an idea.

      Hi Linda, that's a wonderful idea! I'm not sure there's enough for a blanket but I will definitely look into a cowl or something like that and see where it could be sent. Thank you so much for your contribution.
