I can only speak for myself, but the two NC bikes I own, a 2013 NC700S and a 2014 NC750S with 121000 km and 41000 km respectively, I won't swap for any other bike currently on the market. Fuel economy, hassle free inexpensive maintenance and high practicality are worth more than more horsepower. When the NT1100, which surely is a great bike, needs a valve adjustment I will take all that money and buy another year's worth of gasoline or two sets of new tires. Safe rides 👍🏍🙏😊
You hit the point Andree. NC750X is much more economical and practical than the NT1100, and that is worth more than any other thing. Average fuel consumption in the nt 1100 is 6L/100km while in the nc750x is 4L/100km, tha's a lot of money. In addition, nc750x has a great grunt to enjoy ridding a lot. I was considering to buy one of these bikes and definetely I will go for the nc750x DCT. Safe rides
@@MrWhothefoxthat Every motor can be tuned, that being said I don't think that the engine concept of the NC bikes is really layed out for that. However there is a pretty easy way to make the bike respond faster and that's what I did. I changed the sprockets. From 17 front to 16 and in the rear from 43 to 46. That does reduce the top speed but the bike does pull much better during overtake. That being said I do not ride the bike on high speed highway. Therefore my speeds are usually to about 160km/h or around 100 miles per hour. Safe rides 👍🏍🙏
In USA service costs at dealer are expensive. DIY more practical. NC750x DCT is DIY friendly and low cost. Agree low maintenance costs allows more funds for accessoies. NC can add side fairings, bigger windshield, top case, and side panniers. All can be undone when needed for city riding or lane splitting. More practical flexible mororcycle. Low center of gravity, low end torque, and seamless auto transmission, gives more riding enjoyment. That we all want.
As a cruiser rider (when it’s not bloody winter), I’d be keen to hear about your cruiser selection. Your comparative analysis of the two Hondas was excellent and informative, as always. Your channel sets the bar higher for other motorcycling TH-camrs. Thanks!
Great video! NT1100 wins hands down. Only reason to pick the 750 is cost considerations. (Says the guy riding a RE classic 350 dreaming of having a new NT1100 😂)
Hi from eastern Canada, your comparisons are really really good, I love that overlay you do. The NT1100 comparison to a 1200RT "my bike...lol" would be great to see... keep up the great videos, they are appreciated.
I’m sorry to hear that the Africa Twin exited the list. I’ve had a 2019 AT adventure sport DCT that I use for touring and I’m exceedingly happy with it. The upright riding position and the power have been great. The one fault I noticed was some buffeting at speed that I solved with the much talked about piece of plastic behind the fork tubes (after buying three windshields!) to each his own and I’ll be watching to see what happens. By the way DCT is an absolute treat!
I like both of these bikes, however, purchasing a bike that is brand new or a year or two old is a very expensive proposition as compared to purchasing a bike that's five plus years old. There's a lot of terrific older bikes out there for less than half the price of a new bike. Seems to me that's the wise way to go.
Great vid. I own a 2014 black NC750X DCT. I too have been thinking about the NT1100 but as much as I want one, I don’t think I can give up the agility and low maintenance. Besides; I’ve never once felt that I needed more. Cruising speeds on the motorway on the NC is more than enough and I’ve never felt it to be underpowered, albeit I always ride alone. I’m also hitting 50 years of age soon and I don’t think a heavier bike is the right way to go IMO.
I hear what you're saying. Agility, weight, fuel economy, maintenance, effortless highway speeds the NC750X has it all. But, when it comes to extended highway comfort for two riders and all year round weather protection, which is what I'd like more of, the NT1100 definitely has the edge. Believe me, if I could keep the NC750X and buy a second bike I would. 😉
@Diogo Morais Thanks Diogo, but I'm not totally convinced yet plus there's still no word of it coming to Australia. I'll be happy to hang on to my NC750X for a while and have decided I won't be upgrading unless the next bike offers significant advantages. That's going to be a tall order. 😉
@@BikesILike and you also have the new Transalp to look forward to, according to rumors. That could be a nice compromise. I know I’ll definitely consider it if it comes to Europe ;)
Excellent comparison. Thanks a lot for him. I have NC 750X DCT, year 2021 and maximum satisfaction. I'm only looking at the NT because if I were to change, it would only be for a moto that has a DCT and this is probably the only candidate for me. After this review, I was a bit taken aback by the width of the bike, even though the handlebars, or the width of the trunks, differ between cars. I also noticed a probably significant shift in the center of gravity and thus a subjective increase in weight. The approx. 2 l higher consumption is not completely decisive, but the roughly 66% higher purchase price is already a considerable difference. So if I don't win, I'll probably stick with my tried and true NC. Thanks again for the perfect comparison and always a happy return.
Interesting discussion and well presented. A new and different bike is always nice. But for me, I keep saying “but what would I be able to do on a different bike”? Loose my license because of a seductively more powerful bike ? Ride gravel roads faster (AT) and possibly outride my abilities? Spend a lot of $ on a new bike and get nothing for my old one? So I just have a nice cup of tea and a lie down till the lustful feeling of buying a new bike passes. 😢. But YOU must buy a new bike so we can live the dream through you.
Hey @Honda NC750X Stuff I'm a big fan of your channel. I watched a lot of your videos when deciding to buy the NC750X! You're part of the reason I now own one. The 3 main reasons I'm casting my eye elsewhere are... I'm seeking more wind and weather protection over the cold Victorian winters, I want more comfort and electronic aids on the highway (like cruise control) and I want more comfort for my pillion passenger. Thanks for dropping a comment and for your feedback. Much appreciated! 👍
Great review and discussion - yes it’s tough deciding which bike to have as there’s so many reasons for every bike! Somehow I think you’d love the BMW R18. I myself always have interest in the NC750 DCT even though I love my GW. Best helmet is the Shoei NeoTec II
I was looking at buying the NC750x but would have been happy to pay extra for cruise control, Android auto etc but these of course aren't available. The NT1100 ticks most of the boxes for me. Edit. Now bought a NT1100. Love it.
im a nc750x rider in istanbul and its amazing to handle high traffic situations. but nt1100 is looking wide to handle it in city. i want to get cruiser bike but i remember im living in city which have high traffic.i think nt1100 is continue of crossrunner + crosstrourer.
Truth, logical comparison and cross shopping. I suspect a lower mileage, good condition 2-3 year old BMW R1200RT would be about the same price as a new Honda NT100.
Your wishes at the end of the video makes it clear to me that you want the NT1100. It's a step up from the NC750x in most directions. I think you will love the DCT but the main question will probably be: are you willing to trade agility for comfort and pay a lot more for it.
Yes I know. I would miss the agility, fuel economy, practicality and ease of maintenance. The good news is the NT won't be available here in Australia until the second quarter of 2022 so I'll have plenty of time to think about it. 👍
@@bigjosh8372 Hey Big Josh. It depends on whether I could get a good deal on a trade in. Although, with the scarcity of bikes available it might be a good time to sell now. Having said that I don't want to be without a bike either.
Nice comparison. NC750X cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain. If the engine's character is important to you, than NT1100 wins hands down. The black one looks nice.
Great comparison video and discussion going on here, especially those staying with the NC. I have a CB1300 and we've been together for 6 years and covered 11k miles. Like others here, every time I'm tempted to get another bike, I ask myself "What would I be doing on the new bike that I couldn't do on my CB?". My bike is probably worth £2000 (UK) and I cannot think of any bike that could give me so much with this price. I rather spend on fuel and experience amazing sceneries than getting a few extra horse power. The NC is truly an underrated bike. I don't own one, but I've never seen an unhappy owner.
@@BikesILike Thanks for your reply. It's indeed one great bike. It's also been discontinued in the UK. The NT would be a great upgrade to the NC or ideally one could own both.
As a daily rider, the NC 750x (dct or not) with its front trunk (frunk?) and completed with a 60 L top box is unbeatable. It's the true replacement of the NT700 V or deauville (which I had as my first large motorcycle). If you drive a lot in town, split lanes and use it as a "car", there's no discussion. My 2021 NC 750 is more than touring capable (but that's not why I bought it, I have a KTM 1190 adventure for that job). I can't understand why one would choose an NT1100 and loose the Africa Twin's off road and trail capabilities, whilst its is also a great tourer. The NT 1100 is admittedly only 3500 € more expensive than the NC 750x with similar equipments, but it's less practical.
Hey man I currently ride a 2014 cb1100 and I'm thinking of upgrading. By the way all I do is daily commuting with my bike as it's my primary transportation. (I didn't want to go with the cb1100 but I didn't have many options open to me when I got it a year ago and I needed to upgrade from my scooter since I'd be riding highway) I can't keep doing my current bike it's nice and fast. But the maintenance is litterally double the nc750 in every aspect. I don't go anywhere often but most of my riding is intact highway. Which bike do you think is better?
@@Shadow-Reaper Well, I think the wind protection on the NC750x, even the latest iteration, is much closer to a roadster than it is to an adventure bike. I tried the Honda tall screen but that was horrible, only buffetting on my helmet, so I put the stock small screen back. The NC750 is about as economical as a bike can get, bare for the indestructible old cb 500 you maintain yourself of course.
@@Westside7be thanks. I think I have decided to go with it. Better question is dct or not? Like... do you think it's worth the extra grand. (I did read online that dct is better fuel efficiency)
Great video. The side by side comparison is just spot on. Rode the NT and in my opinion it offers a wonderful package. The engine it is not the most exciting but... all other things are great, especially the seat, comfort and a lot of features. Keep up Paul.
I keep my NC750S. I have recently installed a taller windscreen and handguards. Nice little improvement. Even with this „lame“ 54 hp motor you leaving legal side after 5 seconds and to be honest, sometimes im glad of not having more power. No other bike on the market were you can easily install switches, plugs, chargers ect. INSIDE the bike - except scooters. Considering the hefty fuel prices here in germany even less sence to swap to a gas guzzler.
Look at the relatively little difference in torque - even more interesting would be the difference in lower rpm, that´s what makes the NC feel more powerful as the difference in horsepower would suggest. Lower center of gravity, slimmer front, less fuel consumption, the front trunk - a lot speaks for the NC. Add handguards and the GIVI windshield and weather protection is more than fine. The thing I miss the most is cruise control, certainly not the weight or bulkiness of the NT or AT. - Very good video and arguments!
Just today I went to Honda dealer to trade in my 2019 NC750X DCT for 2022 NT 1100 DCT. I was waiting for this bike since Crosstourer (a great bike, but technologically outdated and run-over by competitors) was pulled out from sales. The replacement was long overdue! Got me a sweet deal, and my grey Stormtrooper should be in my yard some time mid-January! Great video BTW, those are questions I was asking myself too. NC 750 X is a great bike! I had 2 since 2016, and made over 50.000 km on it. If you are a solo rider, there is no problem to tour a globe on it (heck, guys were touring Silk Road from Europe to China on it, without a single glitch!). But after going on a two-up tour last summer, we discovered that we needed something bigger and comfier. NC had enough Omph! for our needs, no problem in that segment, but the pilon seat was too small and hard, and we were too crumpled when riding in tandem. Add to the equation that the NT comes standard with the central stand, cruise control, heated grips, panniers, built-in Android Car Play & Navi, 5V and 12V sockets, 180/60 - ZR17 vs. 160/60 - ZR17 rear tyre, 43 mm vs. 41 mm front forks and twin disks front versus single one on the NC, and decision to upgrade was a no brainer!
An excellent breakdown that many who are considering an upgrade will find useful. The windscreen, heated grips, range and seating position, for me, means an extended riding season as well as more comfortable touring. Being that this is being touted as a tourer, I fault Honda for the chain drive. That rules it out for me. But, for those who don't mind hotel or campground maintenance chores, it is an attractive bike with a rock solid engine and the availability of DCT. I enjoyed your video...thank you. Edit: I don't know if you would be comfortable with it, but I have a "Helmet Guardian" on my RT. It bolts on behind the license plate and has locks for two helmets. I wouldn't leave mine unattended in a sketchy place or anywhere for a long time. But for a lunch stop, a quick run into a store or a bathroom stop it has been fine.
That was a great review of 2 great motorcycles. I too can never decide which bike to own. I once owed three at a time , a goldwing, suzuki volusia 800 and a Kawasaki Klr 650. All three were great bikes. Now days it's a suzuki vstrom 650 and a Kawasaki Drifter 1500 cruiser. I have considered the Honda 750x but just can't seem to let the 650 vstrom go, I love that bike. At 74 I'm really not sure if I will trade either one of them although the Honda Africa Twin DCT in appealing to me.
already ordered one (in white, with DCT) and this will be the upgrade from my NC750D (Integra). Changing from Integra will not be that hughe change as from NC750X as i already have all this big wide plastics, windscreens and so on.
Hi Paul. Like you I have a 2020 NC750X - the difference being that mine is a DCT (which I love). Your comparison is very informative, I first viewed it last year a few days before I ordered my NT1100 (Silver grey - DCT). I put a deposit down at the end of November - on the understanding that when the demonstrator arrived - I would try it and if I didn't like it they would give me my deposit back in full because they were so confident that they would sell it to someone else. The demonstrator arrived in early Feb - I was the second person to try it and put over 100 miles on it that day - I loved it. The difference in power is strunning as it should be. It was very comfortable and really didn't feel heavier that the NC750. The engine sound is really totally different though - it sounds much more like a motorbike than the NC. It is definitely a lot more comfortable. My wife and I are going to tour the length of the atlantic coast of Ireland on it at the end of May and I am very pleased that she will have a more comfortable ride, and I will have plenty of overtaking oooomph even two-up. . I can confirm that you will not be able to get a helmet in either of the panniers. I have a top box coming on mine - it is 50litres and will take two full-face helmets with no problem. I get mine a week from today and I am very excited. I would be very happy to report back once I have it. Thanks again for your informative video!
Thanks for the info Phil! That's a great recommendation! Would love to hear more once you have it. Can you tell me how much the top box cost? It's the one item not listed in the Honda Australia accessories section. Which is weird because they list the coloured panels for it?
Put a Puig screen with additional deflector on your NC750X, and you have perfect protection with very little noice. With this screen I ride most of the time with my visor up (and integrated sun visor down, to protect against insects). This screen is actually too effective in hot weather. But my ears are very happy with it! Just as I'm very happy with the efficiency of the NC, with the current fuel prices: a 650 km tour to and through the German Eifel over secondary roads resulted in a fuel consumption of 1 liter per 35 km.
My 2021 NC is perfect for me. I just went for a three day weekend trip in the north Georgia mountains, full Givi panniers and my GF on the back and it handled it all like a champ. I bounced off the rev limiter and touched pegs down a few times so another bike could have gone faster, but nothing is more satisfying than using all that a bike can give.
What a great comparison, as it is easy to see how these two bikes vie for the same (ish) customer. I miss my 2015 NC750X-DCT, but I do like the new NT100. Guess I need to test both back to back....
excellent work, I am in that dilemma today... disadvantages that I see in the nc750x 2022; not good for long rides as a couple, don't like a single front disc, short travel front fork (if you want to get off the tarmac a bit), no abs control in corners, small gas tank. I like it; for city, single highway, going to work, low consumption, good torque at low revolutions. NT1100 2022 I don't like it; without abs in curves, standard fork not inverted, going out on a road without asphalt is very risky, higher consumption although it is not excessive compared to other touring. I like it; power, good for traveling as a couple, aerodynamic protection, conford... clearly both with DCT... I think for those who live in the city and can only buy one motorcycle (I would choose the NC) but if you don't have to deal with traffic and you also like to go out with your wife, without hesitation the NT (it is my choice) ... I have in my portfolio three BMW RT1200 (2009, 2011 and 2015) of similar price to those mentioned with less than 50,000 km and a Honda ST1300 of the 2010... if someone has experience in them it would be a great contribution for me. (but the DCT has no comparison for me with more than 50 years) greetings
As somebody with 4 bikes (one is supposedly Mrs' ;-) ), I would say nc750x makes more sense if commuting and occasional longer trip. For long high speed runs, the 1100 is way better (although for the money I would expect shaft). Between my cb500x and SuperTenere, smaller Honda is so much more practical and I even rode it on 2000 miles trip. Now, I had trips that would have been no go or quite challenge with 500x due to weather. Not an easy choice. Maybe Mrs can keep nc750 (just in case she wants to ride) and you get the bigger one :-)

@@Shadow-Reaper For commuting, I think nc750x may be the best of all. And, you can do pretty much anything other than off road. Another good commuter would probably be kawi Versys 650 but new nc has more electronic control for bad weather. Suzuki v-strom is another popular unicorn. But, nc750x would be my first choice if commuting is my primary goal and I can only afford one bike.
Yes! I noticed that today. I think it's a design which at first looks a little unusual or foreign but after looking at the pics fresh again today it now appears appealing to me. I think it's a design that will grow on people.
I own an NC750s and was considering upgrading to an NT1100, but what turns me off the NT1100 is its width. I think it's unnecessarily wide, especially when filtering through traffic. I think I'll stay with the NC750s. It does everything I need it to do.
I own and have owned a many bikes due to that bike addiction many of us experience. I can tell you in my situation I tend to grab the bike that is the smallest CC (lightest) and with decent storage the most. My big adventure bike I would be happy to ride once a month, that’s when you get over the initial excitement. Out of all the bikes I have I tend to ride my Honda PCX 160 as my daily, with my CRF250L secondly. Sport bikes and adventure bikes are lucky to get a ride out once a fortnight. The favourite bike I own is generally the last one I purchased. In conclusion to your question, trade or keep, always trade, that’s what keeps bike riding interesting.
Thanks Paul. Great video and important stats to consider. The only thing I dislike, so far, about the NT is that split dash. Everything else looks great in my eyes and even my trusty Tiger 1050 may be in jeopardy. I look forward to seeing more. Cheers
I was looking at this new NT1100 in the UK and although it is a good tourer I personally think paying the higher cost £13000 in the UK this is not in my price range I paid £6200 two years ago for the NC750X DCT and due to the pandemic and lock down my mileage is still low on this bike, so I personally will be keeping my ever faithful NC for now. Thanks for your comparison 👍
Is it possible in the future, NT1100 will mimic NC 750X's design, in terms of lowered tank and front storage? I guess what I really want is a NC 1100X..
The NC750X DCT does everything so well it’s almost boring and not like riding a motorcycle, it’s a serious tool and nothing comes close. I’d like to see a fully or better fairinged sport touring aimed NC, or maybe just a VFR800 cross NM4 Vultus with DCT. Like a lighter Africa Twin I think there’s definitely a gap in the Honda range.
I have the Forza 750 which is (I think), what you're looking for. Trouble is I don't think you can buy one in North America. My impression is that the NC750X DCT is as close as I'll get when I go back to Canada.
I sold my NT1100 DCT, and I´ve ordered the new 2023 NC750X DCT. I´m 6 ft tall and 14 stone. Fuel consumption on average: NT1100: 0.42. So I´m anticipating a better fuel consumption with the NC750X DCT. Also, the NT1100 is a bit cumbersome. Not particulary according to weight, but to steering radius and the sheer width and volume of the bike. Just for your information, guys. Ride safe!
@@BikesILike I have a comparison video for you to do it's Between a Indian Chief Dark Horse 2021/22 and Harley Davidson Sport Glide as I'm trying to work out which one,Cheers
Great video. I'm riding the new Honda Rebel 1100cc DCT now, because of the ergonomics I'm looking into a cruiser for longer distance. I'm interested in both bikes you tested. I think the. NT 1100CC will be my next one. By the way love the DCT trans. It's fantastic in the custom programming. Gives me a great trouble free riding here in the US on the Jersey shore.
It seems that DCT owners write the nicest things about their riding experience. If the NT 1100 had a belt or shaft drive, I'd own one myself. I'm too old and creaky to get down and do chain maintenance on a bike and that is especially true while out touring.
@@RickLincoln It's interesting. I'm seeing a few people talking about chain maintenance. I've now done over 8000 km on the NC750X and haven't needed to adjust it once. I just give it a spray with chain lube every now again. I've owned shaft drive bikes, belt drive bikes and chain drive. I really don't find chain drive to be a problem and wouldn't even think about needing to check it while out touring.
Would have liked to go from a NT700v to the NT1100, but the seat height at 820mm will probably be too high. I wonder if Honda will sell wider panniers like they did with the NT 700
For 550€ you can buy a Madstad adjustable windscreen for the NC 750x. I bought it and really enjoy the extra wind protection. Also it includes wind deflectors. It gives a decent 'cocoon' feeling up to 130km/u. An almost no vibrations.
Initial reports are that full face helmets will not fit in these panniers - you have to buy the (rather expensive) top box for that! The NT1100 may well have a greater advantage over the NC750X in Australia, but in crowded UK, with dense traffic and too many speed cameras I think that you are paying a premium for power that you can't use on our roads. Well, not if you want to keep your license!
Actually we don't really get a choice anymore, the NC750X is no longer sold in Australia. Interestingly I discuss my thoughts on HP and speed in my new Triumph Tiger 1200 video, that'll be going live tomorrow. 😉
I will check that out thanks @flexywing. Schuberth helmets weren't available here for many years, some problem with meeting our safety standards and as such they haven't been on my radar. But I just did a search and found an Aussie based retailer. bmmotorcycles.com.au/adventure-gear-2/schuberth-helmets/c4-pro/ I will definitely investigate them because I want the quietest helmet possible. 👍
I upgraded from NC to NT just because the comfort with the Pillion. If I was riding alone all the time there is no need to upgrade but if you are travelling with a pillion it is a must thing. The difference is like day and night. More powerfull bike and more comfortable. There are 2 downsides I discovered in NT. There is more vibration in handlebars than NC and second is absolutely more heat while driving in city. But the rest in NT is superior bike than NC.
Hi! Promised I would be back with news about the Honda NT1100 when I could get a look at it. It’s now for sale in Denmark and I went to the dealership to have a look. It is still to cold here in Denmark for a test ride, but my first impression is: Good looking bike, size is fine as middle sized tourer. I felt a bit cramped with my legs, but maybe that’s just age and stiff legs, I’m 53 years and 6.1 tall. Otherwise riding position is great, arms not fully stretched and only a little bit forward leaning. Seat can be replaced with higher model. Passenger, nice seating but uncertain about legs bend (didn’t bring my wife) Side bags are small in size but ok for a small trip over the weekend for two people. Overall it Loks like a good Tourer I would say a good replacement for the Pan European. Not a Goldwing but I think it will be a good commuter motorcycle you still will be comfortable riding for longer trips. Greetings from Peter.
Currently have a 17 plate NC750XD with a 830mm seat height. Would like to upgrade to a new one but the seat height on it is only 800mm so much too low for me and the NT1100 is only 820mm. Looks like I'll be going for an ATAS with the high seat option fitted which in its high setting will be 895mm which is fine for me at 6'4" tall.
@@BikesILike Not for you, sure, but there are other people watching, and some are interested into fuel consumption difference same as in any other caracteristic like seat hight, torque or wind shield adjustment. You've obviously never read motorcycle or car magazines as a kid to develop those critical skils for journalism. Neither you or any other "influencer" on YT has ever done 0-60 tests, brake tests, fuel consumption tests,wet/cold weather tests, two up tests, speed through slalom/agility test,high-speed test...I've been watching hundreds of car/moto videos from different, some very popular "influencers" and you all look and sound like a teenagers that borrowed a car/bike from their uncle for a short drive on the local parking lot and recorded that trying to impress your buddies. Dude, you're just a fart, bike is the interresting part.
Might I ask you how old you are? At 72 I think I could still handle this bike, any thoughts on that? I'm healthy and fly my sailplane for hours at a time.
I'm 59 Herbert. I think it will depend on how often you ride. Do you ride now or are you considering taking up motorcycling? My plan is to still be riding when I'm in my 70's but it will depend on the condition of my knees at that age.
Yeah that is disappointing to hear. I'm wondering if it suffers from the same buffeting as the Africa Twin? That can reportedly be resolved by fitting a fork updraft deflector. I'm hoping it's an easy fix like that.
Buen video. Tengo tu misma moto NC750XDCT 2020 negra. 👍
@@BikesILike Another biker from Spain here :) I have an Aprilia Mana 850, same concept as the NC750 but with 76HP and italian flavour :) It's a wonderful machine that serves me well, I freakin' love the electronic sequential gearbox. I've already got 3 panniers for touring, and tbh have a hard time deciding whether the new Honda NT1100 is really worth an upgrade. I would really like more power on a biker with DCT, but my big issue is that aesthetically I find the NT1100 super boring, and also the loss of the helmet space... it's super useful in my daily urban use. One thing I love about it, btw, is that the helmet space in the Mana opens towards the driver (in the NC750 it's the opposite) so you can pick all sorts of things while mounted, like the money or credit card for the tolls. Cheers!
Hi Paul, any plans to compare the NT1100 and the Rebel directly? I'm undecided between these two bikes - I need either DCT or heel-toe shifter due to disability. I like the look of the Rebel cruiser, but I can't help but feel the NT1100 would be the smarter choice for commuting, which will be the majority of my riding.
Yeah that's a tough one Shiyoushi. They really are two different riding experiences. It depends on what sort of commuting you have in mind. If it's just city commuting, what about two bikes? A cheap scooter for the commute and the Rebel 1100 for weekend fun?
You know what is an interesting new bike... the Tiger Sport 660. 80 HP.... 450 pounds wet. Triple motor. Compare that to the NT which is 100HP, but probably 80 pounds heavier. Yes, you give up bells and whistles, however the price is way cheaper. Big bang for your bucks. BTW, I do find 3 bikes is the right number. 4 is too many, 2 is ok but 3 is perfect. Currently I have a 2002 R1150GS (looking to trade for something new), a 1995 Triumph Sprint 900 (First gen Triple), and a 1971 Honda CL450 Scrambler... winter project.
The question is do you do enough long-distance touring to justify a tourer or would a set of panniers on the 750 be a more cost-effective option for the odd weekend away: I have the BMW1600GTL my Shuberth C3pro fits in the top box no problem but my Arai x4 is a tight fit and can cause issues when trying to open the top box but it fits in the side case with no issues
I too think cruise control should be standard on all motorcycles now, even if it's a one button affair as Triumph does. But unfortunately no cruise control on the NC750X I'm affraid.
It would've been perfect if they made an 1100cc version of the NC750X. With the engine laid down, tank under the seat, larger frunk and torquey in nature.
I suppose you will only know once you ride the NT1100 but another great vid.. I currently have an NC750X and a VFR1200X so if i do change then it will be the 1200X that goes, but, and it a big but, I love the v4 of the 1200X and would miss it greatly so will just have to wait and see how the new bike pans out.
I am considering the NT mainly because I can't get an NC in Australia currently. I would prefer NC. Do you know if Honda have any plans to bring the new NC to Australia?
No, I doubt we'll see it now. The new Transalp will probably be the closest option for potential NC750X buyers. If you're in Victoria I've just listed my NC750X for sale. I have it listed on Bikesales and Facebook Marketplace.
Looks like we are getting both in the states. We do long trips here for lunch. But its a bigger market, so that is likely why we are getting both. I am thinking the NC750X with a set of SHAD cases that will take a full helmet in both panniers. Is the better deal all around. I think I saw a review out of Spain the said you could not get a full helmet into the NT bags. You would have to get the top case and put on in that.
Nice presentation, thank you. On a similar theme, could any of you fine people tell me if a NC 750 would make a sensible upgrade from a Cb500f? I'm a new rider, happy with my Cb for now, but one is always looking towards the future. Many thanks and Happy New Year to you all.
It depends what you're looking for in your next bike Martin. The NC750X will have more power as speed increases and It will feel more powerful under acceleration and it has the very practical storage compartment. When it comes to ergonomic comfort they're probably going to be fairly comparable and wind protection is going to be quite similar. If you're looking for a significant upgrade it might not be the bike your looking for.
@@BikesILike I love the way the CB handles the smaller country roads, the way she can take the corners etc. but when I get out on to the bigger roads or motorway and I open up to about 120 kms I get a bit nervous, feel she's stretched a bit and a bit light on the road, if you understand what I mean. I'd like a bit more solidity on the bigger roads for when I'm doing longer distances or touring.
@@martinrea8548 Ok good. I find the NC750X to be very good on the highway. It's very stable, handles well in wind and is eager and willing power wise. Our speed limits range from 100 - 110 kph and if I don't keep an eye on the speedo the bike will naturally drift up to around 120 kph. It seems to want to cruise at that speed and does it effortlessly.
@@BikesILike thank you, it might just be what I'm looking for so and that storage area would be very handy for a helmet when I park up. I'll be using my current bike for the coming year and will probably trade up then. Best wishes from Ireland and Happy New Year 🏍👍
Supply is very tight here in the USA. I had put a deposit on a Tenere 700 back in January and was supposed to get it in March. I didn’t actually get it until September, and I was one of the lucky ones. A lot of people who had deposits on bikes had their orders canceled. Needless to say this made a lot of people upset I’d imagine. It’s not just bikes that are hard to get it’s personal watercraft and Quads also. Lots of people who have discretionary income from not taking vacations so it’s a high demand low supply situation. I doubt they will bring the 1100 to the US or some other countries if they potentially have to cancel orders and upset people. Especially when they have the opportunity to clear out some of their other models…like your friend who just bought a Twin instead.
I'm running a 2006 cbf1000, similar power and torque figues to the the NT1100. It's brutally fast off the lights, an Nc750x will be left for dust. It handles like a barge and is a b'stard to push around in the garage. Amusingly I'm considering changing to an nc750x...
Thank You for Shearing A sport tourer? ”all right” Honda! with open chain drive ❓let us at least get a closed chain covering with a possible auto-oiler like on your smaller Honda bikes on a tourer to get rid of the nasty chain cleaning and mantainince 🤢
Nice review thank you. When I saw the NT1100 and the Suzuki GSX1000GT, I wondered about swapping my 2020 Versys 1000 SE GT for one of them. When I bought the Versys, I knew it was a fairly heavy and tall bike, but really there were no close rivals except (IMHO) overpriced BMWs. But the NT1100 panniers don’t take a full-face helmet, and I do like the smoothness of my four. And the electronic suspension, lean angle ABS, cornering traction control etc setup on the Versys seem way more sophisticated. The Suzuki bizarrely has no centre stand which will make chain maintenance a nightmare. Also, Suzuki advise that a top box should not be fitted to the GSX, which sort of goes against its touring capabilities (and also makes me wonder about its stability and weight distribution). None of these compromises apply to my Versys. I will of course reserve judgement until I get a chance to ride the NT1100, but I don’t think I will be trading the Kawasaki just yet!
Can't argue with that logic Charles. Can I ask what you think of the 2020 model Versys seat? I had the 2016 Versys 1000 and the seat was not good. It had way too much angle on it and every time I hit a decent bump I'd be bounced forward onto the tank. My wife also found herself constantly sliding forward. We ended fitting a Corbin seat to make things a lot more comfortable.
@@BikesILike I must say I’ve never had a problem with the seat, and I have done some long days in the saddle. I don’t take a pillion so can’t comment on that. Thanks for your reply, I must point out that my local Honda dealer has me on his list for a ride on the NT as soon as it arrives!
Thank you for the comparison! Test riders and reviews tell that a helmet does not fit. Another downside: the fairing is quite complex an takes a lot of time to take off and on - imagine servicing...
Hello from Atlanta, Georgia. USA. I have been thinking of a new bike but haven't found anything i really like. But not that i see this nt1100 i would really like it to come to America. A blue on black would really be nice. I would actually consider trading my ctx700 dct in for one of those with a dct.
@@BikesILike we will have to see what Honda and Yamaha offer in the sport touring category for Canada in 2022. Neither the NT1100 nor Tracer is showing up on their websites. I’ll be curious to see the price points for both when they do. I may just stick it out on the NC750 for another riding season. I’m just thinking a bit more comfort for the long hauls. It’s extremely windy here on the Atlantic Coast and I’m not a big guy so I just find I’m fighting the NC sometimes
@@rockinrodlittle I hear you on the wind and weather protection front. I want more of that for winter riding. Although it's not yet showing up on Australia's website either, the NT1100 is coming to Canada the US and Australia. At least that's the feedback I'm getting. Some have already pre-ordered. Contact your local Honda dealer, they'll fill you in. 😉
The new NT1100 has so many great features it's the superior bike for sure in almost all categories except of course higher price. I'd be pleasantly surprised if the side cases hold a large FF helmet as they do look narrow, the right side is 1 litre smaller than the left, and the both have leg cut outs for the passenger. That height and angle adjustable screen sounds intersting but the winglets will move with the screen as one piece which may cause buffeting. Otherwise, the trade is a no brainer.
Can't argue with that Andree. 👍
Safe rides
i have the 750 s, been looking to tweak it for power and also an after market fairing kit, any thoughts would be appreciated.
@@MrWhothefoxthat
Every motor can be tuned, that being said I don't think that the engine concept of the NC bikes is really layed out for that.
Thanks!
Thanks very much Guy! I will make that video. 😉
Great comparison. I absolutely loved the side by side and overlay. What a difference that makes in a review. Nicely done!
Thanks so much! 👍
Canada! I was wondering where you were from Hug. Hmm, I might do a R 1250 RT comparison, we'll see. 😉
@@BikesILike Hi from PEI . . . I’ve got my name in for the NT, if it ever arrives!
@@UncleWally3 Hi Walter! PEI... I had to look that up. Prince Edward Island, Canda! 👍
Hmm, maybe I dropped the AT too quickly. I will definitely test ride it first before making a final decision. 👍
I currently have an 2023 NC750X DCT and I love it! This is my sixth motorcycle I've owned in the last six years and this one is by far my favorite.
@@BikesILike then I agree that the NT1100 is the way to go. It’s a beautiful bike and I’m sure you’ll love it.
@@diogomorais9938 Yes that's true! I'm hoping we get to see it at the upcoming EICMA show in a few weeks. Fingers crossed!
Thank you!
Such great discussion !!
😂 Exactly my thoughts.
Great review and discussion - yes it’s tough deciding which bike to have as there’s so many reasons for every bike! Somehow I think you’d love the BMW R18. I myself always have interest in the NC750 DCT even though I love my GW. Best helmet is the Shoei NeoTec II
Thanks Oldbiker! You know what, I think I'd like the R18 too. The Shoei Neotec II is going to be my next! Glad to hear you think it's great. 👍

Excellent comparative review. I have a 2020 NC750X and plan to upgrade in 2022 either to the NC1100 or the BMWR1250RT
Thank you! Two great options Paul. 👍
Truth, logical comparison and cross shopping. I suspect a lower mileage, good condition 2-3 year old BMW R1200RT would be about the same price as a new Honda NT100.
That nt1100 looks bad ass I didn’t know Honda made one like that, haven’t seen it here yet
This is how comparisons and reviews should be done
I have GIVI 37 liter panniers on my 2018 NC750X, and with the frunk I can really haul a lot. More than I could with my 2018 Gold Wing Tour.
More than a Gold Wing? I wonder how's the pilion comfort on nc750x as well (with a top box fitted, maybe it has backrest?)
@@BikesILike will you trade the NC750x?
@@bigjosh8372 Hey Big Josh. It depends on whether I could get a good deal on a trade in. Although, with the scarcity of bikes available it might be a good time to sell now. Having said that I don't want to be without a bike either.
Nice comparison. NC750X cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain. If the engine's character is important to you, than NT1100 wins hands down. The black one looks nice.
Thanks Speedytrip, I agree. 👍
Thanks Hooman! I'm a big fan of the CB1300, I wish it was available here.
@@BikesILike Thanks for your reply. It's indeed one great bike. It's also been discontinued in the UK. The NT would be a great upgrade to the NC or ideally one could own both.
Had a Suzuki Boulevard M50 2009 limited edition black and orange since new. I absolutely love this cruiser.
AT is too tall for me. So, that's a pretty strong reason to choose an NT.
Also much better weather protection.
Hey man I currently ride a 2014 cb1100 and I'm thinking of upgrading. By the way all I do is daily commuting with my bike as it's my primary transportation. (I didn't want to go with the cb1100 but I didn't have many options open to me when I got it a year ago and I needed to upgrade from my scooter since I'd be riding highway)
I can't keep doing my current bike it's nice and fast.
Thank you! 👍
Have to agree about the video. The NT is a great bike and I rode it, but would also like to try the NC. :)
Can't ever imagining parting with my 750X. It's the perfect all rounder. The problem is, after 5 years what do I get to supplement?..............
NT1100 is good value for money and bigger fuel tank . If you bought DCT even more comfortable with full loaded panniers and top box .
Thanks for sharing your experience! Which country are you in by the way? Trying to get a handle on where the NT's are currently available. 👍
Thanks Rick! I'll check the Helmet Guardian out. 👍
Just my thoughts as well, I am considering the switch, but my NC is DCT, and nothing compares to it in the urban setting.
I believe that DCT is available on the NT1100.

Most probably, but the NC has the front storage space
That was a great review of 2 great motorcycles. I too can never decide which bike to own. I once owed three at a time , a goldwing, suzuki volusia 800 and a Kawasaki Klr 650. All three were great bikes. Now days it's a suzuki vstrom 650 and a Kawasaki Drifter 1500 cruiser. I have considered the Honda 750x but just can't seem to let the 650 vstrom go, I love that bike. At 74 I'm really not sure if I will trade either one of them although the Honda Africa Twin DCT in appealing to me.
Great to hear you're still riding at 74! 👍
already ordered one (in white, with DCT) and this will be the upgrade from my NC750D (Integra). Changing from Integra will not be that hughe change as from NC750X as i already have all this big wide plastics, windscreens and so on.
Nice! I had to look up what an Intergra was. We never had that model here I believe. 👍
@@BikesILike The top box was part of the touring kit, but I think separately it is about £365. Honda use Shad for the luggage
@@philboulter Ok great! Thanks Phil.
Thanks for the tip!
My 2021 NC is perfect for me. I just went for a three day weekend trip in the north Georgia mountains, full Givi panniers and my GF on the back and it handled it all like a champ. I bounced off the rev limiter and touched pegs down a few times so another bike could have gone faster, but nothing is more satisfying than using all that a bike can give.
hey there, if you're in north GA or the Atlanta area...where do you buy your NC at?
would you recommend that dealer? thanks in advance.
I'm thinking of getting rid of my Tiger 1050 and getting either the 750 or 1100. This video helps alot but still undecided, great video 📹 👍
But the maintenance is litterally double the nc750 in every aspect. I don't go anywhere often but most of my riding is intact highway. Which bike do you think is better?
@@Shadow-Reaper For commuting, I think nc750x may be the best of all. And, you can do pretty much anything other than off road. Another good commuter would probably be kawi Versys 650 but new nc has more electronic control for bad weather. Suzuki v-strom is another popular unicorn. But, nc750x would be my first choice if commuting is my primary goal and I can only afford one bike.
The more I see the nt1100 the more I like it 👌
Yes! I noticed that today. I think it's a design which at first looks a little unusual or foreign but after looking at the pics fresh again today it now appears appealing to me. I think it's a design that will grow on people.
@@BikesILike Definitely agree 👍
Im disappointed the NT1100 is not shaft drive as I would expect from a long range touering bike
Excellently done sir👍
Food for thought for sure.
Thanks
Thanks Peter! 👍
Thanks for sharing your experience Flor Me, I can relate. 👍
This is a clever video. Thanks for the analysis on both bikes. Can you do GSX S1000GT next? Superb!
Thanks Paul. Great video and important stats to consider. The only thing I dislike, so far, about the NT is that split dash. Everything else looks great in my eyes and even my trusty Tiger 1050 may be in jeopardy. I look forward to seeing more. Cheers
Thanks Anthrax! 👍
I was hoping for the same. That would be perfect. 👍
@@SuperDirtyHarry0798 The Forza is a bit too far in the scooter direction for me but I totally get why you’d suggest it given my description.
Today I proved the NT1100, and my opinion is…trade for that! Unless if the only place you ride will be the city… Nice videos, so helpful!👌🏼😉
Thanks Edurider! 👍
@@BikesILike thanks to you!
Awesome short and simple video. Keep them coming sir
Thanks Jorge, will do!
Ride safe!
Another great video very informative keep up the fantastic work
Thanks Ross! Will do! 👍
@@BikesILike I have a comparison video for you to do it's Between a Indian Chief Dark Horse 2021/22 and Harley Davidson Sport Glide as I'm trying to work out which one,Cheers
@@rosssteward9890 Hmmm... You know what, that's a challenge I might have to accept! Let me think on that. 😉
Thanks Andre! 👍
@@BikesILike shaft drives adds more weight too
how do you get along with the rebel?
I would like to see Carply screen in nc750x
Would have liked to go from a NT700v to the NT1100, but the seat height at 820mm will probably be too high. I wonder if Honda will sell wider panniers like they did with the NT 700
For 550€ you can buy a Madstad adjustable windscreen for the NC 750x. I bought it and really enjoy the extra wind protection. Also it includes wind deflectors. It gives a decent 'cocoon' feeling up to 130km/u. An almost no vibrations.
Very interesting! Thanks very much for sharing your experience with the screen Lien, I'll check that out! 👍
I really like the NT. I think it will fight the FJR. Both are great. If it's Honda, you know it will be.
Never tried the Sheoi helmet, but if you want comfort and silence, has to be the Schuberth C4 pro
I will check that out thanks @flexywing. Schuberth helmets weren't available here for many years, some problem with meeting our safety standards and as such they haven't been on my radar. But I just did a search and found an Aussie based retailer. bmmotorcycles.com.au/adventure-gear-2/schuberth-helmets/c4-pro/
I will definitely investigate them because I want the quietest helmet possible.
I felt I was in an University classroom. 😁 Great video
Hi! Promised I would be back with news about the Honda NT1100 when I could get a look at it.
It’s now for sale in Denmark and I went to the dealership to have a look.
It is still to cold here in Denmark for a test ride, but my first impression is:
Good looking bike, size is fine as middle sized tourer. I felt a bit cramped with my legs, but maybe that’s just age and stiff legs, I’m 53 years and 6.1 tall.
Otherwise riding position is great, arms not fully stretched and only a little bit forward leaning.
Seat can be replaced with higher model.
Passenger, nice seating but uncertain about legs bend (didn’t bring my wife)
Side bags are small in size but ok for a small trip over the weekend for two people.
Overall it Loks like a good Tourer
I would say a good replacement for the Pan European.
Not a Goldwing but I think it will be a good commuter motorcycle you still will be comfortable riding for longer trips.
Greetings from
Peter.
Awesome! Thanks for you sharing your thoughts Peter, sounds really good! 👍
Go for it! I wouldn’t mind having the NT1100 together with my Rebel DCT😀. The Rebel is a very good allrounder.
I've hit a snag! I explain in this video. 😉 th-cam.com/video/sH3J7GtGTFI/w-d-xo.html
Great efforts. As a Honda NC 750x rider. I think you missed comparing fuel consumption!
Have a great ride.
If fuel economy was the key metric I'd never sell the NC750X. 😉
This is far,far away from anything even remotly resembling some serious journalism so why are you taking yourself so seriously with those comments? Dude, you're just a fart, bike is the interresting part.
I have the same problem! Have an NC750X, want an NT1100...
That NT has a really noisy buffeting screen based on the info that is out there.
Cheers!
@Malleus Maleficarum Hello Spain! 👍
Thank you for this comparison, great job. I wonder if you've already done the upgrade and what is you opinion now? Thanks and stay safe!

@@BikesILike that's definitely not a choice I expected :) Great bike.
What a fine analysis! Thank You!

I rode both bikes, I mean the Rebel 500 which has a lot similar frame to the 1100. Can check both of my videos. My choice would be the NT. :)
It's uncanny how much alike we think.
😉👍
Tiger 660 is half the size of the nt. It is a mini-bike.
The question is do you do enough long-distance touring to justify a tourer or would a set of panniers on the 750 be a more cost-effective option for the odd weekend away:
I have the BMW1600GTL my Shuberth C3pro fits in the top box no problem but my Arai x4 is a tight fit and can cause issues when trying to open the top box but it fits in the side case with no issues
Does the 750 have cruise control? That is a must for me!
I too think cruise control should be standard on all motorcycles now, even if it's a one button affair as Triumph does. But unfortunately no cruise control on the NC750X I'm affraid.
I like how the nc750x fuel tank is low and I really wish the nt1100 had the frunk. Otherwise it looks like it'll be a great motorcycle.
Thanks Bleary! Yep I agree, the true test will be a ride. 👍
Best wishes from Ireland and Happy New Year 🏍👍
@Martin Rea Ireland!! Awesome! Definitely take one for a test ride you won't be disappointed. Happy New Year and best wishes to you too Martin. 👍
Thanks for the info Martin, I think you might be right. 👍
I'm running a 2006 cbf1000, similar power and torque figues to the the NT1100. It's brutally fast off the lights, an Nc750x will be left for dust. It handles like a barge and is a b'stard to push around in the garage. Amusingly I'm considering changing to an nc750x...
Definitely take one for a test ride. You'll be surprised by how competent they are. 👍

A sport tourer? ”all right” Honda! with open chain drive ❓let us at least get a closed chain covering with a possible auto-oiler like on your smaller Honda bikes on a tourer to get rid of the nasty chain cleaning and mantainince 🤢
i got to sit on one at the show; nT100 omg; plastic about ready to fall off all over. ! why would you upgrade from the nc750x ?
Really? Was it that bad?
Have you considered the GSX-R 1000 GT. 2022 Model?
Yes! I prefer the pillion seating on the NT but I will investigate the GSX-R 1000 GT. 👍
@@josephlarmor550 Oooh nice! Definitely let me know how that goes. 😉

Thanks for sharing pricing 👍
Does the NC 750 have a DCT Transmission ?
My 2020 particular NC750X is a manual model but the current NC750X is available in either manual or DCT. If it's sold in your market.
Interesting! Didn't know one case was smaller. Thanks for your feedback! 👍
