Had my dct a month. The other day I rode around Derbyshire for 3 hours non stop. No comfort issues whatsoever. I wouldn’t go back to a manual. Fuel economy is amazing. It’s a highly underrated bike. Your videos were a deciding factor on me taking one out for a test ride. Thank you
I owned a 2015 DCT and it had a recurring issue with the DCT in as much as it would stick in gear. I would have to come to a stand, hold the front brake on hard and rock the bike forwards and backwards. I would hear it clunk through the gears back in to neutral. I now run a 2016 geared NC750X and while I would rather have the DCT I'm quite happy with the geared bike.
My "blokes" version is just touching 580 miles and in for its first service next Thursday where it will be nudging 700. Yesterday I did my first serious mileage on a motorway. Tested the new large Givi front screen and it was planted, even with the side gusts. Very enjoyable. Did my business at Helmet city Oxford and went home (London) via the north edge of the Cotswolds in the sun we had. Serious fun and the bike behaved brilliantly. Really pleased with how solid it feels on all roads. Chap asked me outside Helmet City how I felt about mine as he was taking a second hand one out from Kings next door for a test run. I said with all confidence that he would not be disappointed. I wish you well and safe journeys.
Cheers Dave your obviously not as lazy as me and got the one with the lever on the handlebars, and that funny shaped thing near your left foot, joking aside there fantastic thanks for the comment really appreciated🤣🤣👍
Thank you for making these videos. I just purchased one this past Wednesday. Your videos really helped with my decision. I also have an 07' FZ6 which I love!
I've had my NC just over 5 months. 1200 miles in and I love it. In the week I completed a 250 mile round trip. 100 miles of which was the M1....im ready to go again😊
The NC has been tarnished with none riding NC experience or 1hr demo rides there like the 411 Himmy they have character and for me ride as well as any bike👍👍👍
Hi Paul, Another down to earth video. Your 4,000miles ahead of me, I have no work miles. Was out yesterday just over 100mls to clear my head. As I keep saying love it with no plans to change same as you. Rode it the other week in manual. Better on steep down hills on narrow gravel roads. Other wise auto and paddle into corners suits me. I know your bike has seen all weather conditions and types of riding. Condition for a budget bike I would say is brilliant. Cheers.
I run an NC750X (as you know Birchy)...However, I will be honest, it is very much a utility bike to me, and as such I don't worry one iota about rust, cleaning it, overly fussed about lubricating the chain, or indeed anything else. And the best part of this bike is it just keeps going. This bike was so cheap I view it as expendable.
I’m thinking off getting one. I ride a GSA at the moment but finding it so heavy now I’m a lot older. I’m not a fast rider like to take my time these days.
nothing wrong with going at a pace that's comfy, myself and Tony lost the pack as long as you can set destinations on the way doesn't matter what rd your on, the NC hasn't got the same off-road capability as the BMW but it's riding and weight are down low there is only about 10kg difference get a ride on it 1st I love mine to bits but it fits me👍👍👍🍻
I've fitted the Andreani Evo cartridge fork kit and Tractive rear shock to my 2017 DCT. Two great upgrades if you're looking to keep the bike long term.
I think they have made a big difference. Much more detailed and compliant. I took the opportunity to look inside the Andreani cartridge and they have a small shim stack so proper valving and are fully adjustable on preload, compression and rebound. I know Tractive kit very well and it's a quality component. Cost for both was about £1,200. Worth it in my opinion if you're going to keep the bike for many years. Not sure what someone would charge fpr fitting.
@@CHTH-cam496 I watched NC750 stuff fit the same kit, I'll have a look mine is later and I know the forks and links are also shorter, I could only find YSS thanks appreciate the help👍👍👍
@birchwoodbiker I did look at YSS but I'm sure they only supply emulators for the forks. On my year the cartridges are a little more fiddly to fit as you need to remove the oil lock at the base of the inner tube. They show the tube end being machined in a lathe but I used a 4" angle grinder with an 80 grit flattening disk. Kept rotating it and sanding until the burred over metal was removed and then pulled the valve out. It worked well.
Totally agree with you. Had my new NC for 2 months and nearly 400 miles in. I was a bit apprehensive about the DCT at first but the more I ride it the more I respect how the bike works and am really starting to enjoy it now. One thing I would say and this maybe controversial but I did find the quality of my CB500x to be better than the NC in terms of plastics etc but riding the NC is so much easier especially with a pillion and my wife actually enjoys our little trips out now thanks to the smoothness of the DCT and comfort of the seat.
Test riding one this Saturday , I`ve watched a few of your videos now and subbed , great content and very informative thanks for sharing, guessing your not a million miles from me either 👍
Great are you riding the Naked or the CBR you will lve it, I'm Warrington way I try to get out every Saturday, this week it's Wales, ride safe and thanks for watching really appreciated👍👍👍

Hi Paul, one month in and my new manual NC is superb, now complete with aftermarket parts. Regarding the DCT, Honda and DCT owners are aware of the stalling / failing issue, potentially this could be dangerous if it fails at high speed on the motorway in heavy traffic, with the manual version you'll never have that issue. 😎
Hi Stephen new you would like it, the DCT won't ever stall at motorway speeds, it happend mostly on the pre 20 model at slowing down to a stop, even mine when it failed on the DCT Trouble video, there been no issue, Honda re flashed the software, I dont think it is anything to worry about , but glad your getting the miles on the Mighty NC👍
@@birchwoodbiker That's good to know, I've just got back home after riding in comfort and in standard mode all afternoon, 70 mph + overtakes are easy, the NC an amazing MC. 🏍️ 😎
Not sure if the quality on my 2015 DCT is any better than yours but mine has very little rust where the paint is and very little on the bare metal, but I have to add, when I first got the bike brand new, I used a full can of ACF50 every where apart from the brakes of course. I've done this every year on its anniversary.
I think they made certain parts at cost, there no serious rust, I had both 15 and 19 models loved them as much as this and probably would go back to the pre 20 model👍
Comforting to hear your continued satisfaction with the bike. I'm on week two of my 2022 NC750c, also the DCT version. Couple questions if you have time to respond... how are those engine guards working out? I was amazed at the clarity of your helmet microphone/headset from the video blogs you've done. I'd love to know the make and model if possible. Thanks!

I've had my 2022 NC750xd for 2 years and 8000 miles and am very pleased with it except for the noise generated by the screen. I changed to a GIVI screen which was better but not perfect. Can you please advise what screen you have on your bike and whether that cuts out all the wind noise. Thank you.
When you say 'push' do you mean Puig? I looked at the measurements of the Puig but they are the same as the Givi so I think they will be no better than I have already. I think the problem is not so much the height but the width as they are not wide enough to prevent air coming around the side. Wing mirrors are not a problem as I bought a pair of excellent mirror extenders from sw motech, which are quality units looking like they could have been Honda originals. I think you have a Slipscreen windshield and would be interested in the width at the widest point. Thanks
Does anyone know how long Honda will take to fulfill a new order of one of these, as of May 2024? I've researched the heck out of all the bikes available and this one totally fills my needs. Just wondering though, if I were to order one today, would they be saying a month or two for delivery, or more like 6-9 months? I was in a Honda dealership today but nobody seemed interested in helping me and I ran out of time.
Every time I watch your vids I can't help but think that your hand guards aren't mounted properly, or you've been given mirror mounting arms that are way too long. Or is it just the camera angle?
I have a question, I've got a 2022 model DCT...does your bike make a clunk sound in gears 1 and 2 when shifting around town at low speed? Mine does and it dont affect the bike itself, its more of an annoyance more than anything. When shifting into 3/4/5/6 its not noticeable at all...mind you the engine noise and wind noise likely drowns that out.
yes the bike is clunky at lower speed, it's clutch system uses 1 3 5 for lower change and 2 4 6 for higher, you need to speak with a Japanese guy I just think it works great😂🍻👍👍
Did you say you had a lexus with a dct? Because if I heard you right and you do have a lexus, they don't have dct and just have a conventional automatic gearbox.
Like I said on TAYM channel. DCT or automatic shifting is " pretend riding" so lazy to use a lot hand and a left foot to shift. It's not like we are on a race track and being paid to ride.i don't get it. If you don't have a left hand? I got it as a PT. But if we go automatic bikes, auto turn off blinkers, lane correction, notification of vehicle next to you and so on, go ride public transportation. I see this, more crap you people that asks for more crap on two wheels, the closer we get to bad riders. Already got enough drunk riders, and sport bike fair riders that think the road is a race track. Just give me a standard bike that does what "i" ask, not what a computer tells me. It might be me. But I like manual! It should be hard to ride for most, because I don't want most to ride.
I’ve had both DCT and manual bikes, I’ve got an automatic hybrid car, a manual sports car. It’s not a case of one is better than the other, they both do things differently and well. The only downside of DCT and quick shifters is my left hand gets cramp on long rides, because it’s got nothing to do !
I think you should think yourself lucky. When you lose the use of your left foot, DCT is an invaluable aid. I've been riding for 60yrs, and if DCT can make continued riding possible, then count me in.
