I'm a little buzzed right now, but I still remember my Opa (German for Grandfather) taking me to this and enjoying the heck out of it as a little guy (love the Martian who was the pilot). Your channel provides a lot of joy for people. Carry on bud! XD
I loved this movie. I remember when my dad brought it home from the video store. I was skeptical, but I loved it. I still quote lines from this. My dad still refers to people as Captain Bipto from time to time.
Man, I loved this movie when I was younger. Then, when I got a bit older (and discovered weed) I rediscovered it. Now, I’ve tried to show it to my kids. My oldest daughter said it was lame and old - the exact quote included “... so old it should be in black and white.” On the other hand, my youngest daughter loves it; she thinks it’s hilarious and like the “Jack Nicholson” alien. Well... I know who’s not gonna be in the Will.
5:43 - I've watched this underrated movie more than I should have throughout my life and can positively state that the towns people are less angry at the fact that there's no way out of Big Bean (beyond normal roadways) and more at the fact that their new highway off-ramp has been destroyed before its time, seeking mob vengeance against The Martians simply out of spite. A good joke in my opinion.
I love Spaced Invaders I pull out my copy and watch it regularly. The special effects are passable and have stood the test of time a hell of a lot better than some big budget flicks of the time. The movie never trys to be more than it is and you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
Sam's played by Douglas Barr, who played Colt Seavers's nephew, Howie, on the action series, "The Fall Guy". He later became an episodic director, working on "Sweet Valley High".
I love this movie. One of my good friends who sadly passed away about three years ago had a halloween ritual where he and his family would watch this every time the holiday rolled around without fail. I tagged along and watched this with them for three or four years. I have some great, but bittersweet memories of watching this with my friend and his family before he died. I'll have to go back and watch it again some time.
Even though i have not seen this flick, like so many others on this list, I absolutely love your series! I started watching exploitation films and schlock B grade movies back in the early 90's thanks to an old friend who had like 400 movies on VHS, and I was hooked. Many of them that I have seen from that massive VHS collection, you have either explored or done a good bad flicks about. I introduced my wife to your channel and she learned a lot about my past ( and present ) " goodbad " guilty pleasure film adoration. I don't know. I suppose this is just very nostalgic for me and in the meantime, she gets an education in something she has never known about. I guess what I am trying to convey here is that I just frickin LOVE this stuff. You make ART Cecil and it rocks. keep up the good work.
I remember my older brother taking me to see this in the theater, and I thought it was pretty funny. Even my brother was laughing at some of it. It actually holds up pretty well and shows what practical effects can accomplish, even if they're simple.
Izzy SoDope This kinda reminds me of Sgt.Frog, is it just me? I mean it's about a bunch of aliens trying to rule the world, but are too dumb to do it right!
YES!! Thank you for remembering this lost cult-classic! I LOVED this movie as a kid, and It STILL makes me laugh! (even my hard-ass dad liked this movie!) "Prepare to die, Earth Scum!" and "Captain Bipto!" are too lines I repeat constantly with my friends. Gets a laugh every time! We will always have a soft-spot for this one. =)
THANK YOU so much for reviewing this flick. This is a movie my family would watch near Halloween every year and even my mom could get in on the quotes "or in your case, a whole LOAF of toast" .. lol.. Another great episode.
When I was a kid I went trick or treating one Halloween and some old lady dropped dry toast in my bucket. She did it on purpose...just before she disappeared. She hasn't been seen since. Weird, eh?
@John Collins Wow! That's awesome, dude! Grimlock...yes, I remember him now! Gregg Berger...he was so talented! I'm overwhelmed with nostalgia! Gregg Berger...he was nominated for 66, 662 Oscars but never won! It's a crying shame! Say, what's the name of that criminal who was knelt to death recently? Gertrude Flubadub...or something? Loved this as a kid. I saw this SO MANY times :D Thank you GBF!!
This is one of those movies I haven't seen since I was kid. Basically forgot about it. It was one of those things that just felt like a dream, until I experienced it again. It all slowly came back to me. I feel transported. Thanks for the reminder. Nostalgia was what got me here all those years ago. The fact that you loved Freaked when I asked about it didn't surprise me, but felt awesome. Only my family members know it, cause my dad showed it to me when I was a kid. That and Killer Klowns (which ruined dream from ages 5-10). I'm okay now, in case you were wondering.
Lol wow I remember this movie. We used to have 2 Vcrs so we could record movies we rented onto a blank vhs. My mom recorded it for me and I only remember Royal Dano from Killer Klowns an I just could not get into the movie. It seemed to just go on forever! However I was like 6 years old at the time. .maybe I need to give it another shot. Thanks for reminding me of this nearly forgotten film!
this channel is awesome, the content always leaves me speechless with admiration, and it must have the coolest and most positive subscribers on TH-cam !
Thanks for making this video review about Spaced Invaders. This is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. Sure, it isn't one of the best movies from this genre, but it's still entertaining.
Oh man! I watched this way back on VHS... the only part I remembered was the aliens singing "home on the range" and someone dressed as a duck tackling someone else while screaming "YOU'RE ALIVE" At some point, I thought it was a fever dream... Thank you, goodbadflicks
I have a ton of love for this movie. I feel like when it is mentioned it gets dismissed out of hand but it's so much better than any of the ET knockoffs of the time. I recently rewatched it after not seeing it since I was a kid, and besides being really nineties it holds up. So many great moments, like Klembecker passing out cigarettes to trick or treaters, the Martians blowing up a corn silo thinking it's a missile silo, Vern as a weak nerd turned badass Zorro, Captain Bipto stuck in the car grill, the carnivorous duck. Gotta see if I can make people watch this on Halloween.

I was 14 when this was in theatres. And that one scene when their captain was ran over on the highway, was cut from the theatrical viewing. That scene was one of the reasons I wanted to see it (The comical timing was funny at my age then) but they didn't show it.
Thanks Good Bad Flicks for the memory jog. I actually remember watching this when I was a kid. I thought this was based off the arcade game "SPACE INVADERS" but I was wrong. I still liked it. I kind of liked them paying a quick homage to TOP GUN with teh one alien being a bad pilot that wore a heavy brown jacket and shades. I think when I was a kid I thought it was ok. Beyond that yeah it's more a kids flick. I'm surprised they put it on DVD. I saw it years ago on VHS.
I saw this movie when it first came out in theaters. Actually, it was the first time ever going to the theaters. I love it, my favorite line? "Ain't you dead yet?!"
I loved this movie, it was silly but still entertaining. Scout in a can has been a mainstay in tabletop sci fi rpgs for me since I saw it on this. "Scout in a can! Smart, efficient, easy to use and expendable!"

I loved this movie growing up. The last time I saw it was about 12 or so years ago when my friends left me to trip on shrooms with this on tv. It made for a pretty entertaining experience.
I watched so many times growing up. I'm only now remembering what it's actually called, because I think our VHS recording had a different title labeled on it, lol.
