My hometown had a drive-in movie theater and they always showed double features. Usually, it’d be a movie you wanted to see paired with a generally less appealing one. In the summer of ‘90, my brother and a friend and me went to the drive in to watch “Dick Tracy” and we HATED it. The 2nd movie was “Spaced Invaders” and we stuck around to watch the beginning. Had a surprisingly funny opening scene and we said to each other, “This may actually be worth watching.” True, it wasn’t smart, sophisticated, or meant for adults, but we had a good time watching it, laughed a lot, and stayed to the end. To this day, I have a great affection for “Spaced Invaders.” Under the circumstances I saw it for the first time, it really hit the spot. WAY better than “Dick Tracy.”
7:46 In this episode, we accidentally learn that Roger has only ever seen the word _sentient_ in print and never bothered to sound it out. Or maybe it's a mistake he first made as a young child, and his neural pathways simply hardened around it. This has probably happened to every English speaker at one time or another. It's just par for the course when you speak a language whose phonetics make no sense. (Don't get me started on spelling bees. In any sane language, they just aren't needed.) But it's odd that ABC let this flub go out on national television.
Spaced Invaders DOES have a good concept: real aliens overhearing the Orson Welles broadcast and wanting to join in the fun. It COULD have worked, but it was simply too freaking dumb to get away with it. There MUST have been a better film that could have come out of this....
If you deal with idiots on the daily, that characters behave like this absoloutely wouldn't shock you. Maybe your life needs more econ and law majors in it.
The Michael Caine acting video was fascinating.
Thank you for the Michael Caine instructional video. I will be looking for it. And of course, Michael Caine is one of the truly great actors.
Roger had me laughing at his review of "Spaced Invaders".
Very very slow 🐌lol

You hated it that much? It's not very good but I don't think it's terrible.
I'm glad that enjoyed it ☺️.
does anybody ever talk about or know why Gene was always fidgeting with his ankle in most wide shots before he begins a review?
The Guardian 1990 is a jacked up horror film. 😳
Armand Assante is an awesome talent.
Yes, he is. He won a Golden Globe for Gotti, I think.
@@reneedennis2011 He didn't win the GG, but he did win an Emmy for it.
@@Xayjohns Okay. Thanks for the correction 😊.
@@reneedennis2011 No problem

I noticed that, too but maybe wasn't as distracted by it to the extent that you were.
Spaced Invaders looks absolutely ridiculous! 😆😆😆😆
Is it a good movie I haven’t seen it
@@paulienuti8031 Really? Okay!
It’s incredibly corny, but it’s lots of fun. It’s one of those “stupid but ENJOYABLY stupid” movies.
@@crescentfreshbret Cool 😎!
Q&A is what law & order is now. Where is this Armand Assante now‽
Q&A is a good, realistic crime drama.
@KUARENTA KILLA I agree 😌.

Best Nick Nolte film.
I need to check it out.
@@peterglen8396 Well it's a little known fact that Nick Nolte was in Another 48 Hours. When he did that crime film.
Friedkin is a brilliant filmmaker but yeah, "The Guardian" was not his finest...
The last narrative film he did was hysterical.
