    With your contacts, if you create something like a Mail-in-a-box server you can then use Davx5 (I think that's what it is) for your contacts and calendar, you'd be fine and then you get to move away from Google email and calendar as well. It uses Nextcloud for contacts/calendar and also gives you some file sharing capabilities.

      @nikiforossarantoglou5917 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go to xda-developers.com -> top right magnifying glass type your model and choose the picture -> go to the forum that is about ROMS kernels etc. Choose which os you want (or basically try a bunch if you aren't sure) and follow the instructions. Most likely you will find info about which Recovery you can use (like TWRP or OrangeFox for example), or you can post your question directly there instead of a random youtube video.

      Before I installed Graphene a few weeks ago, I tried installing other ROMs and I came to find out that there is no TWRP support for Android 10 yet. You can still flash custom ROMs if your Pixel device is on 10, just depends on which Pixel. Mines is the Pixel 3XL and it looks like I can. forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/how-to/guide-pixel-3-xl-android-10-0-q-t3964117 .

    One big step in de-Googling is finding a good alternative that is totally free speech. I use Presearch as my search engine. Presearch is decentralized search engine that is privacy searches and shares revenue with users. Soon enough the search engine will be powered by user nodes, who will also get revenue share. The next phase for Presearch is becoming as decentralized as possible meaning the community makes decisions for the company and not a board of directors.
    I know lots of people use DuckDuckGo but they have donated to liberal organizations. Many liberal organizations are in favor of censorship. Also DuckDuckGo is venture capitalist backed.
    Why not use a search engine that is privacy, revenue share to users and decentralized.

    If that was so simple. Is there alternative to Google Pay that would support most banks in various countries? Google Maps, still the best. Plus tons of various local apps that are available on Google Play store - like measuring air pollution in nearby area, some shipping apps for bons, etc.
    I tried to root and unlock Hammer Axe Pro, my dad's phone but it turned out I can't. There are no ROMs for this device, there is no way to unlock the boot, root the phone - basically, nothing can be done :(.
    As fort other phones I have (from Samsung), I won't touch it, too big of a risk.

  • @anthonyedwardcooper8820

    Hia, funny that you pick on the one information gathering process that does make sense, for your privacy argument. The collection of anonymous WiFi data, through simple scanning of BSSIDs and signal strength, coupled with GPS coordinates, is used to build up a WiFi geolocation database.
    This geolocation database is then used by others to 1) provide an approximate location (and depending upon WiFi/database coverage even more accurate than pain GPS) in power saving mode, and 2) helps to prime/start the AGPS when you turn it on.
    AGPSs aren't full blown GPS devices that you'd have in a GPS tracker, and without this priming stage they may take minutes to start and get a lock or not at all (like my old Nexus 4 - sigh).
    Probably the biggest information leaking software is Google Chrome, which I have removed from all my devices. Firefox is a better browser and so it's not a hard choice anyway.
    With an anonymous account on Google play store, how do you pay for apps? I hate ads, and they are a major infection vector, so I usually pay for an app, if its any good, just to get rid of them.

    • @madthumbs1564

      People running Debian, Mint, Ubuntu may not recognize FF as a better browser. Not long ago it sucked at youtube, and didn't have PiP. Vivaldi (Chrome based) was better for a while for me.

    • @anthonyedwardcooper8820
      @anthonyedwardcooper8820 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@madthumbs1564 I only run Linux (Ubuntu). The UI is much more functional in FF, Chrome is so basic in that regard, with FF you can have multiple sign ins for each site, uses fewer resources, faster, and generally more stable. FF at work will run until I need to reboot the box, once every 6 months or so, chrome will last about a month before it crashes. Whilst on an internal company LAN, both were heavily used against complex and demanding web apps. Unfortunately they only mandate chrome at work so I had to switch and noticed the difference :-(. Recently Chrome even started to stutter and become unusable when not connected to the Internet (no idea why - still investigating). Having said that Chrome does use Blink/WebKit and V8 which are the basis for Electron etc. Not surprisingly Google Chrome may work better with TH-cam as Google own TH-cam and would want to tie people into using their products for the best experience so that they can harvest as much user data as they can. Heaven forbid they make their websites work equally well for all popular browsers :-).
      Anyway use what ever you're happy with. Unlike some nation states at least Google just want to do targeted marketing.

    Hey thank you a lot for all the technical knockledge and the work you put into your videos. Fantastic!
    I have one more question and i hope you'll see my comment =)
    So i got a Nexus 5 and put Ubuntu touch on it. Thats the phone i go outside with, nothing Google or Apple related on it.
    Now i need a solution for the following problem
    I have a ministry on Instagram, where i do bible related live streams and stuff like that. I use the browser for that, so i can reply messages and post images on Insta, but i cant use the story or the live stream feature which i really need. So i need a mobile phone with the Insta app on it.
    From the privacyvideos ive seen, i think getting a pixel 3 and de googling it is probably a good solution. But is there an Instagram App substitute on F-Droid or Aurora Store AND is it for me possible to log in and use it like i normally would (posting stories and starting live streams)?
    Regarding that solution one more question: as soon as i install Instagram, which is a Facebook app so i guess its privacywise a bad idea, are they still getting my data even tho im on a de-googled phone?
    Sorry i know its a long text but im kinda new into this topic. Thanks and Blessings from Germany!

    Alonso: A good narcotics agent should have narcotics in his blood.
    Jake: What, are you gonna smoke that?
    Alonso: Nope, you are.
    Chris Titus: A good deGoogler must install this deGoogle store.
    Loyal Fans: What, are you gonna install the deGoogle store?

    I'm just sayin...

    • @Mallchad
      @Mallchad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@janosch1097 Same way you track any wireless device, triangulation or trilateral. Depending on signal strength, connection being used, how many towers are nearby and how often signals are being sent (in use makes it more accurate) somebody with access to the data could track you to within meters in an extreme scenario. If you are connected to a long range network, you are always traceable as long as there are at least 2 static connections.
      Or alternatively 2 moving connections with accurate navigation/positional data.
